OK, I've figured out a way to move this argument off it's current course and on to a whole 'nother topic and subject.
When I was pregnant with my second, I had a glass (one small glass - but a glass nonetheless) of wine a couple of times. And my OBGYN was the one who said it was OK.

The judging has gone both ways in this thread - both towards moms/parents who make the decision to leave their kids in the car AND toward those who say they would call the cops. Judgment hasn't gone just one way. Seems like a lot of defensiveness on both sides. Have your opinion, own it and be adult about it. Maybe we should have a poll and end this once and for all. Are you: A) A crappy parent who endangers their children, or B) A nosy, judgmental bitch who should mind her/his own business. There seems to be no middle ground, so I'm thinking a poll would solve it Moonbeam? Unfortunately, doing polls right now is difficult as we have to disable another plug-in to do so. Virgil is working on it and said he should have a fix in by the end of the month.

Heavens to Betsy... I wasn't even planning to drink tonight but this thread is changing my mind. LOL! I don't drink and sure wasn't planning to change that tonight ... but, I'm having second thoughts! Muttley and bunnysmom, let the damned argument go. Let it go! I've removed all the involved posts. Now, drop it. Any further posts pertaining to it will be removed. mmhmm, Administrator

Oops i posted before i saw the mod's latest post... "When I was pregnant with my second, I had a glass (one small glass - but a glass nonetheless) of wine a couple of times. And my OBGYN was the one who said it was OK. LET THE FLAMES BEGIN..... " You do know this has already been argued about, right? That was just about as pleasant as this one i think firebird started that one too.

I just changed my kid's diaper without asking her permission because otherwise I'll be responsible for her turning out to be a social misfit who isn't attuned to my emotions...
...crap, wrong thread.

Btw, Sam, I don't think I knew you had a bun in the oven... Uh, what exactly did you think her big rainbow timeline signature showing number of days pregnant and announcing "It's a boy!" meant?

Lol, I guess shes using the app and didnt see it. We have a boy coming in about three months hopefully. Hit the first big milestone of 24 weeks, hoping I can breathe again after 28. Pregnancy on its own is hard enough but this has been pure mental torture. Hence the need for a drink right about now!

I'm on my phone and can't see signatures. However, I'm also horrible at remembering people's real names. If you're the FB friend I think you are, I did actually know already.

Okay, yeah, sorry. I didn't recognize your screen name because your real life name is different and I'm remember-things-impaired. I did know about your little boy already and I'm super thrilled for you

Here we go... I did not test my blood sugars the last 3 days I was pregnant with JoJo even though I had GD. After I had the fasting test for gestational diabetes, my doctor's office left a message for me to please call their office regarding my test results. I knew from prior experience that if the test results were OK they'd just say that on the message. So instead of calling them back right away, I immediately called my sister and told her to get her butt over to my house... that before I was officially diagnosed I wanted to have Dairy Queen one last time.
Turned out I didn't have GD, was just borderline and they wanted me to repeat the test with a more extended version. So that wasn't my final DQ outing and DS was only 6 1/2 pounds when he was born. But that's also the kid who's incredibly small for his age and has had all sorts of other issues, so maybe the DQ wasn't such a hot idea. On the other hand, the kid who I had the few glasses of wine with has been perfectly healthy and is a mellow, happy guy...

We need a new thread... Hello my name is.... I'm a bad parent... Can I start it out with the story about leaving my kid at the Y for swim team not knowing the pool was closed and not noticing when he chased my rapidly departing car through the dark parking lot screaming my name?

Can't remember where I saw this from, but there was a correlation of car deaths with car changes and requirements for how babies are constrained in cars. I think that they said that there was a blip up when car seats could no longer be in the front seats due to passenger air bags, and then another blip when it was required that the car seats be rear facing for babies. Then there are the idiots that just leave their child in the car to go drinking..... www.wtsp.com/story/news/weird/2014/07/03/child-left-in-hot-car-while-parents-drink-inside-bar/12126143/

I can't believe I forgot about this! Years ago my mom's idiot cousin (and her younger brother's best friend) was supposed to be watching his son. Tyler was I think like 6 at the time (is well into his 20's now so obviously this was years ago). He stopped by the bar to "quick say hey" to a couple of his regular drinking buddies. Left Tyler in the truck with the engine running. After about 45 minutes Tyler got bored and decided he was going to drive home. Tiny ass town of 350 people. Got confused by the whole brake/gas situation and drove into the bar. Cousin's buddies were pissed because it was a historic type building and the repairs took quite a long time so they were without a drinking hole for months.

I just saw an article about how he had been sexting multiple women (including a 17yo) while his son was in the car.
I deal with some fairly disturbing stuff at work, but thinking of what that poor baby went through makes me sick to my stomach.
You don't want to be a parent any more, fine. Drop your kid off at the fire station or a hospital. You're still a shitty person, but at least your kid won't have to boil to death. What the fuck is wrong with those people?

Seems There was insurance on the boy. And family members stated he had asked them about how to cash it in. www.nbcsandiego.com/news/national-international/265851491.htmlI can't imagine killing an enemy for 27K. But your own kid? I have a hard time grasping that there could be someone that sick out there. I really do hope it's not true and it does come to be an accident, but it's not looking good.

I'm not sure it gets any worse than planning on cooking your child to death in a car. I'm not in favor of the death penalty but I don't seem to have a problem with forgetting this man in a hot van somewhere, maybe in transporting him after his conviction.
