Seems someone else is feeling guilty about being a bad mom. I'm sure a fair amount of us have done something that we either now feel is wrong or someone else does. Hell, I'd have the cops called on me by several posters due to my kids and cars stance. Meh, they can bite me.

I agree and am glad I didn't have judgmental moms deciding whether I was a good mom or not.

Don't like Red Bull. Blech.
It sounds totally crazy, but the latest quick and easy sailor cocktail is a simple mix of 1/2 of this stuff called "Whipped" vodka (cheap flavored stuff tastes like whipped cream but is way too sweet) and 1/2 that handcrafted Tito's Smooth Texas stuff they sell at Costco. If I hadn't tried it and liked it before someone told me what it was, I wouldn't have even tasted it but it's pretty darn good. And clear - so goes inconspicuously in a water bottle.
Still love the Dark and Stormies when it's hot out. Dark rum and spicy ginger beer. But since that's carbonated, don't put it in your Camelback.

"I agree and am glad I didn't have judgmental moms deciding whether I was a good mom or not."
See I didn't think we were judging the mothers. I thought we were talking about what we (as a mother or non-mother) would do if we saw a baby/kid in a car. But then I went back and re-read the OP and I guess the subject is bad parenting or not.

My friend (who brought the yummy stuff that everybody was fighting over) told us about it. If you go to our local Costco, it's the only Vodka called Tito's.

It sure seemed like judging moms who left their kids were bad horrible mothers and I sure for the impression from you and some others were definitely saying that. If I'm wrong, I'm glad because it really made me think poorly of you.

Not sure if PA state stores carry it, but this is the stuff: titosvodka.com/
You mix 1/2 the Tito's with 1/2 Pinnacle Whipped Cream Vodka (cheesy and cheap, but it tastes good in this mix). We call the result "The Smooth".

I may say mean $hit but I don't think anybody is a horrible or bad mom here at all. I said this earlier. I think everybody is a good mom here. If someone leaves their kid in a car, I don't automatically think they are a bad mom. I think they have assessed their situation and decided to do so with careful consideration. However, I, as the person from the outside, don't have a window to the mom's mind so if I see the kid in a car alone, I am calling the cops.

I don't necessarily think judging equals thinking bad mom. We all judge, and we judge everything, compared to our situations/thinking. But to me that doesn't mean that person is a bad person/mom/whatever.

Thank you for your "concern". But I get both as needed (I will spare you TMI). And letting go works both ways.

Trust me...I think we would all rather hear your TMi then continue to see the two of you fight over kids left in a car. Geez...your posts are peppering up some good drinking recipes!

The judging has gone both ways in this thread - both towards moms/parents who make the decision to leave their kids in the car AND toward those who say they would call the cops. Judgment hasn't gone just one way. Seems like a lot of defensiveness on both sides. Have your opinion, own it and be adult about it.
Maybe we should have a poll and end this once and for all.
Are you:
A) A crappy parent who endangers their children, or B) A nosy, judgmental bitch who should mind her/his own business.
There seems to be no middle ground, so I'm thinking a poll would solve it
Moonbeam?

No question about the "lightweight" part. Drinking is one of the many things I'm not good at it. Making them, tho, is an entirely different story. Belly up.

GEL, I see it like you do. It hasn't been one-sided in many ways. I do however, like the idea of turning this thread into a drinking thread or just locking it up.
Oh, the posting on the thread is frightful, the reading, I wanted to be delightful, yet here it just goes on and on, Let it go, Let it go, Let it go.

So, the funny thing is I had read through the posts several times that I am harping over and didn't get. Then I read it my husband and it finally clicked.... 13 hours after I originally read it (and I had read it out loud a couple times before that).
As to why I got seriously peeved off twice in this thread- the first time, the automatic assumption was that I was talking about something that is illegal in all 50 states (forward facing before age 1). While I didn't specify it, the vast majority of parents use a convertible car seat to rear-face at some point in time. So for the assumption that I was talking about something illegal was so far out in right field my only response is that "well this person must think since I do one thing wrong, I do everything wrong". I've already gone over why the second post set me off. But it is the same response in my head "well this person must think since I do one thing wrong, I do everything wrong".
DH and I talked about how polarized things have become. That you are either doing things the right way or the wrong way and there is no in between.
FTR - I still don't think my logic is all that faulty when "the call the cops posters" (for lack of a better word) were asked, what was wrong with waiting a minute or two, and the response was "No, can't do that". So, to me that is right then and there they are going to call the cops. That is all. Cam you see why I would have that interpretation when it was asked as a specific question?

I'm able to remotely start my car without the keys in the ignition.. the doors have to be locked in order for me to do it. So I could have my kids locked safely in the car with the a/c on but no way to put the car in gear and drive away. Is that okay? Actually I left my 11 yo in the car with the keys in the ingintion and the car running and he assured me that he would punch anyone who tried to break into the car. -banana-after reading 22 pages I have finally found the one thing I wouldn't have done: leaving an 11-yr old in the car with the motor running and the keys in the ignition. -banana-Of course that is only because, knowing my kids, I would have been 99.9% certain that on returning both the car and the kid would be gone ---AND they would still be grounded TODAY 20+ years later!

Please, someone get seriously drunk on my behalf. This mom can't wait for my own house and 3rd trimester so I can have just one little glass of wine.
