Shoots before shots. We will have to see how this plays out.

I've been to a pet store that had a roller rink attached to it. It was a pretty big combined operation, and successful. A lot of kids came to the rink and also looked at, and bought pets and supplies. None of the big snakes that they sold got into the roller rink. Although the media if inclined could of made a story about the place. A movie even, snakes in a roller rink.

Well that's just stupid. Who will be buying these drinks? Even if you go shooting and put your gun in the car- you still end up in possession of a gun under the influence which is illegal.
Now- I could see if people had gun lockers at the range and kept their target pistols there- but somehow I don't think that's what is going to happen.

OK why the hell not- maybe the NRA will shut up once everyone has a gun and can take it wherever they feel like. We can start with getting rid of metal detectors in DC- including all Senate and House offices, chambers, etc. Same with state legislatures- if you want a free-for-all state- then put up or shut up. No special protection. Guns in court. Planes too- the 2nd amendment doesn't end when you leave the ground. Guns on the space station already- never know when someone might need to stand their space. There's Ruskies up there ya know....

And I would like to make a special point about guns in court and other places- how can they be banned anywhere? How is it Constitutional? How is banning guns on planes Constitutional? As the NRA points out daily the right to bear arms shall not be infringed- there is no second amendment allowance for public safety or the safety of anyone at all.
So that leaves two camps- those that think that gun control should be a proper function of government, and those that do not. And in the middle of this are a shitload of hypocrites.

I've owned guns (still do), and used them for target practice at the range.
I also have a locked case that the guns get placed into for transport (in the locked trunk of my vehicle), as well as a storage case in-home - including trigger locks on those guns, when not in use.
I wouldn't go near a range where booze is mixed with the handling of weapons.
Some things just don't go together as easily as oil and vinegar.
Guns, and gun-safety are critical. Booze and guns are one of those things that don't mix well together.

I live in WI, there have been bars in the shooting ranges forever. I've never heard of any issues...but don't let experience and real world application get in the way of outrage who is outraged? i think most of us are chuckling at this.

You wouldn't get away with that where I shoot. If you've been drinking, you're not shooting.

Not everyone at the gun range is shooting. I don't shoot at ranges but have gone to watch. My nieces like to go to the range to shoot handguns around here they rent you the guns with the lessons so they could go a shoot then go have a drink.

I'm pro gun and think it's stupid to serve booze at a range. Some clown "finishes" shooting, starts drinking, remembers he got hit by a hot shell casing from the shooter next to him and decides to make an issue of it. Granted, the odds of this happening are low but I've seen way too many "nasty dunks" to just dismiss the probability.

Actually, I'm outraged. No way should any responsible gun owner mix booze with shooting. I'm glad I shoot at one that doesn't.

Entering any activity in a reduced capacity from drink or drugs where you can potentially harm some one is a bad idea from my perspective. This bar and range media hoopla is just that, hoopla. The bar is separate from the range and will be as effective at keeping a drunk patron out of the range as another that stops at the bar up the street before shooting. Maybe even better because they know who's been drinking.

This is high end club, not a "shot and shoot" joint, but something of a country club for gun sportsmen. In spite of what many of you people think, the mere presence of alcohol won't make us shoot holes in the ceiling like crazed cowboys in a saloon after a long cattle drive. Most of you guys couldn't afford the place anyway so you're safe.
Guns, and gun-safety are critical. Booze and guns are one of those things that don't mix well together.
Then don't drink and shoot.

Of course we all know no gun owners would ever drink while they are armed Always a law abiding bunch until they aren't.
But what's the difference- bars serve the shit out of people that go out and kill people with their cars all of the time- so why not those with guns? Any extra gunfire will most likely be contained to those particular locations so why would I care- I will just avoid those places. In fact I don't plan on going in any bars where guns are allowed or nearby. I will having my fun in one of those scary gun free zones the mass shooters are supposedly targeting.

You're right. Bars serve alcohol to drunks who go out and kill. Bars are also held liable for doing so. That being said, I don't close bars anymore so that decreases me chances for getting killed by a drunk driver. I also wouldn't frequent a gun range that allowed people who have been drinking to shoot. Sane people can do things to mitigate their chances for survival in an insane world.

Owning guns mitigates your chance of survival. So apparently there is more to it than that.
Do you avoid gun free zones? Sure are missing out on a lot if you are.

I seldom leave my property unless it's to live on the boat for a while. I'm kind of peopled out. I do travel to hunt, but it's usually to remote places with the DW and guides.

Depends on where you live I guess- I go to the comedy club, NFL games, NHL games, various other venues.

And know what- I am not even sure what the gun policies are at the various places I go to- because I never bring my gun and don't care. I like margaritas and good beer- I have no business with a weapon when I am at the Saucer, at a sporting event, a show.

I go out to have a good time, not sit in my seat paranoid. No reason at all for anyone to bring a gun into a bar, a football game, any of that. I am glad there is security at the door. Sorry I am so un-American. Does the thought of people walking around a stadium open carrying assault rifles on their backs not bother you? It should.

Yeah, there's a lot of that going on all over the country.....
The only gun free zones I know of around here are schools and military bases and some government buildings (courthouses?).
I guess it's just a coincidence that there have been shootings in those places. Maybe, if they made the "NO GUNS" signs bigger, the nut jobs would go somewhere else... Yeah...those gun free zones are working out real well...for criminals....

Yeah...those gun free zones are working out real well...for criminals.... There isn't because the NFL doesn't allow it. Chipotle, Target, Starbucks- another story.
Of course it is a coincidence. But the NRA loves to use these tragedies as a reason to arm more people- and of course sell more guns.
I keep waiting for someone to post even one case where a mass shooter targeted a particular place because of a 'no guns' sign. It is a fantasy.
So can I gather when a mass shooter targets places where guns are legal to carry you would consider that just a coincidence? That's the special situation? When these nuts gun down armed police is that just an outlier? Back to planet Earth please.
