No, it's a bunch of thugs with guns and masks picking on unarmed children in the name of religion.

So, that doesn't qualify as a War on Women?

No, these lunatics attack anyone who doesn't agree with their world view, including male physicians, reporters, teachers, health workers, etc.

Shooby I don't know why you are calling this a "War on Women". I read an article on it this AM. Nigeria is apparently the country with the biggest human trafficing problem in the world.
The perpetrators are Islamic Militants (Criminals) but that does not mean that all people who practic Islam approve.
Is this something the US should intervene in? IDK. I don't think we can afford to police the world. It would seam that the People of Nigeria and the people in that region will have to deal with this themselves to eliminate it successfully.

What is your point Shooby?
I don't think you will find a soul in the world, white, black, Asian, Christian, 99.999% of Muslims, Hindus, you name it, who think this is acceptable.

My point is that not forcing Catholic organizations to pay for birth control is not a "war" on women. THIS is a "war" on women. But, we like to use big grandiose melodramatic words.

This has nothing to do with a "war on women". This is nothing more than an attack on the most vulnerable, which is certainly nothing new. The school from which they were taken is an elite boarding school. The jerks who took these girls can now demand a ransom to return them. That's what it's all about.

As for how the US should react, I don't know. But take a look across the globe at how women are treated. There is a GLOBAL war on women right under our noses.

It is no more a "War on Women" than it is on boys in Nigera. It is a war on education. After all, Boko Haram in the local language means "Western education is sinful."
From February of this year:
29 Boys Killed as Boko Haram Attacks Boarding School in Nigeria
DAMATURU, Nigeria - Gunmen from Islamist group Boko Haram stormed a boarding school in Nigeria overnight and killed 29 pupils, police and the military said on Tuesday.
Many of the victims died as the school was burned to the ground.
"Some of the students' bodies were burned to ashes," Police Commissioner Sanusi Rufai said of the attack on the Federal Government college of Buni Yadi, a secondary school in Yobe state in the country's northeast.
All those killed were boys. No girls were touched, Rufai said.
Boko Haram, whose struggle for an Islamic state in northern Nigeria has killed thousands, are increasingly preying on the civilian population.

Well, then since we arent' giving out free condoms then obviously we have a "war" on men which is almost like kidnapping and killing them.

But, we like to use big grandiose melodramatic words. this started with Johnson (War on Poverty), continued through Reagan, Bush and Clinton (War on Drugs), then Bush II (War on Terror). if you are going to get upset about this usage of War, you will find that i am completely sympathetic, but it is not like it us came up out of nowhere.

It has nothing to do with the kidnapping of students in Nigeria - and who's this "we" you speak of that should be handing out free condoms?
That's so far off-track from the actual discussion or story in your link.

Why do I have to make a point? I am reporting a current event and I didn't even use Breitbart. But my point is that the REAL war on women is going on across the globe not the phony baloney one here..

That's been rumored but not proven, I think, xmascookie. It's also rumored they've been passing the girls around amongst themselves. No ransom has yet been requested, however. Whether one will be, or not, is unknown. The fact is, these girls are a commodity and those who took them have that interest, and that interest alone, in mind.

From a Daily Mail news article published earlier this morning:
"Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan has said security forces are doing all they can to find the girls and the Associated Press has reported that his government is in negotiations with the terrorists who are demanding an unspecified ransom for the students' release."
Daily Mail
Why would these criminals sell the girls for say $12 a girl when they can extract a ransom from the government for thousands of dollars each. $12 a head won't buy much on the black market but thousands of dollars a head will buy much. The jerks need big cash-not pennies to continue their war with Nigeria.
Selling the girls is just a threat to get ransom money (in my opinion).

Thanks for the link, Tennesseer. I hadn't seen the article about the ransom demand. That's what made the most sense to me, however. The creeps want to get as much moolah for this as they possibly can. In the meantime, the girls are suffering. It's an ugly situation.

This is an instance of militants who kidnapped some students to use them as collateral for monetary gain.
