How many posts did he have anyways? Was he over 20K? He probably should take a break if that's the case. Say what??
<SL Tries to take a few thousand off her post count>.
Since he found he had other things to take care of that were more of a priority, maybe deleting his acct was the only way he could take a break from the board. We are an addictive bunch here, after all.
I don't think we've seen the last of him. He'll more than likely be back when he's ready.

Anyone who posts on the Games board is going to have a massively inflated post count. I don't go there too often anymore, but I can easily post a dozen times in five minutes when I do. And I'd wager that at least 40% of SL's post count owes to the Games board. The board has been active for 1233 days, hence 20K posts averages out to roughly 16 posts per day. That's not earth-shattering, although it definitely implies an hour or more per day spent on the boards. As a reference, DebMD averaged 110 posts per day during one of her busiest weeks. And the record for most posts in 24 hours is held by Tosh at 215. Of course, both were so out of control they were eventually banned, but I digress... When you post/play on the Games threads, those posts are not added to your post count. Same with the Help Shelter Animals thread.
That's something Moon implemented quite a while back .

That's something Moon implemented quite a while back .Is it back off again? The board started out counting, and I elected to turn it off years ago. But a while later Moon noticed the board was configured not to count posts, thought it was an oversight, and re-enabled counting. Then after another while, the subject came up in one of our discussions, and I guess she must have re-disabled it. Or maybe the settings changed with the migration to v5. If you were also tweaking the settings, we should have the rest of this discussion in private, since it kind of makes us sound like we're headless chickens running around and crashing into each other. The bottom line is that 95% of my posts are Game board posts that took me absolutely no time to write. Therefore my true post count is somewhere in the 500-600 range and therefore I do indeed have a life.

My DH knows full well that I play here.
In fact, on Saturday mornings, I always tell him "I need to say Good Morning to my friends before I start any projects."

He just pinged me back and said that his addiction to the board has reached the point of being counterproductive for his life. He closed his account in hopes he could focus more on what he needs to do. He says he will may return later. Please, tell me it is a joke. What is that 'he needs to do'? make another baby? 20 min top! If he had something to DO he would have told us what is that he has to do. Idk... Twenty minutes? I had no idea he was a marathoner.

I don't tweak any of the settings - either Moon or you do any of the board tweaks, Virgil.
I just remember in the "Report Bugs" thread, someone had noticed their post count hadn't changed when they played the "Change a Word" game - and Moon reponded to that post saying that if someone is playing those games on a regular basis (like Wyouser, NNP, or myself), it wouldn't reflect a truly accurate post count number on their/our profiles.
She put in the tweak to exclude those game threads from adding to a member's post count total.

He tried that last night and somebody got their panties all in a wad. Asked him if he ever contributed anything helpful....or something like that. oh yes, because what he posted on Lena's thread about her son having surgery was just so damn funny! Except his post was in the thread about Tennessee and their new law regarding pregnant women and drugs....and had nothing to do with Lena's son.

I think singlemominmd was referencing Reply #11 on Lena's thread about her son's surgery, GEL.

Ah....I thought she was referencing the post I typed about since she quoted me. I don't even know who said is as I don't remember. Since she responded, I thought she must have been the one who posted it. I didn't read the thread about any little guy's surgery.

I think, if I remember correctly, GEL, there were at least a couple of Archie's posts to which people objected yesterday.

I feel like I need to step away for a bit too. I have yard work, house work and a bunch of other things to do but once I sit down at the computer I am on for a few hours.

I think, if I remember correctly, GEL, there were at least a couple of Archie's posts to which people objected yesterday. Probably. I object to people's posts all the time. Gotta have a thick skin to be around here. If he said something that was totally mean and out line, I would think it would have been addressed by a moderator. Since it wasn't (at least publicly), and I know you all try to keep a eye on that stuff, that tells me that those in charge must have known he was just being "Archie". Archie doesn't have a mean bone in his body, in my opinion. If he was out of line, he won't be the first one. I wasn't saying anybody was wrong or right - just that it was said. If someone objects to it, they have every right to say so. Just as long as they are talking about what I really posted, which was that I'd seen that comment and it wasn't in any thread about anybody's son. Archie is taking shit for doing a whole lot less than others around here do. That's only my opinion, of course, but there are people around here who are downright mean and nasty and I didn't see him that way. Archie contributed a lot to this board in the way of humor, looking out for the underdog and just being himself. Just because he didn't go around with a stick up his ass who couldn't type anything that didn't have something to do with a dollar sign, does not mean he didn't contribute. And before anybody has a meltdown, that wasn't referring to anyone in particular. If it was, I'd say so.

Btw, where's chuckie (savoir faire)? He drops in now and then, achelois. I know his beach house was really messed up by the big storm, and that was taking up time. Don't know where he is with getting it back into shape.

A little birdy told me that the wench was suffering a little bit since there are officially no more men on this board. I'm here to tell you I ain't NEVER comin back!

Well, I enjoy Archie's humor and contributions also. I do understand wanting to balance one's time appropriately. I just lost an hour and a half playing on the magical internet! Could have mopped the floors!
