Although I am in support of losing the PG13 restrictions (to some degree), my fixed income would not allow me to continue as a member if there is a fee involved. I understand, and will support any decision made about this. Good luck!

TMR, we wouldn't kick anyone out. by "pay to play", i meant that anyone who didn't contribute may not be able to access the NSFW category.. and at this point, that's certainly not written in stone anyway.

I'd say either of... I'm not sure maybe though about what you mean by a separate area? ...

A controlled area of the forums, oped. EE, for instance, could be set to allow only those with permission to view/post in it. That could be done for an area such as the one moonbeam is talking about.

Ok. But it's not like I'd want to go to a place specifically to discuss R rated material... It's just that an observation or joke may come up in the normal course of a thread that is more mature than the rating... To me, having to keep track of what I can say where would be more confusing than just having the limitations in the first place...

I like it free. Don't you know a lot of the folks around here are cheap? It may not be in their budgets. Uh, yeah. I think i'm pretty clear on the "people are cheap" idea. however, if enough people were interested, it could be something as low as like $5/month... i don't think that's all that out of line. but, the main thing is knowing for sure that there was enough interest to keep it going.
oped, you're right that it *could* come up elsewhere on the board.. but as much as possible, I'd rather contain it just to keep people at work as safe as I could.

Then I think we might as well contain it everywhere... Or at least that's my opinion.
I don't even know what board I'm on anymore, unless I'm actually starting a thread.

I assume the PG13 issue is on boards I don't frequent. I would, however, be willing to contribute so those who need a place to relieve pent - up sexual frustrations can have it here. A question though, would it be tax deductible as a charitable contribution? Seriously, I so appreciate the work done by Moonbeam and others in the creation and maintenance of this board that I would even be willing to open a PayPal account (with technical assistance provided I hope) if that is the decision of the direction to go. EDIT: Decided that put me in the "other" line for voting in the poll.

People that complain about the PG13 rating are not interested in a board of just themselves. That has always been an option to them and not enough people are interested to keep it alive. They want an audience. I prefer to put up with the ads.

We did, briefly, have a sub-board that was where people went for "chatting." I didn't participate in it but as I recall, you needed a password to get to it. Someone reported it to proboards who made Moon shut it down. I'm not sure how I'm thinking/feeling about this. I don't want to lose this group. I think of most of you as friends/friendly acquaintances. Or maybe the crazier bits of a family. I mainly post/view from work. although we have a new set of rules for internet usage and I have to read them and figure out how badly I'm breaking them... But a NSFW sub board, clearly labeled as such, could work. I think I'd be willing to pay a yearly fee. Not sure how my husband would feel about it though. He knows how important you are to me. So he'd probably go along with a cheap yearly fee. I voted for "I don't know"

So, let's suppose a 60% margin of error. I'm seeing a pretty even tie for yes/no.

No. I just need you (and others) not to post things that you know are going to lead others past the pg13 line. That's all.

Another thought. I was remembering back when we were add free for a short time. I worried about how many "community" page views I was using. Not excited by that coming back.

Well, I voted for interested, but I'm not really interested in a split board. So I can change my vote if that is where we are at. I shall just have to give up the occasional bawdy reference.
Can we get a list of words that trigger an issue?

Can we get a list of words that trigger an issue? Words, alone, rarely trigger an issue, oped. The use of crude words is allowed unless someone feels they have to fill a post with them. Those words that aren't going to be tolerated are already censored. What causes issues is content, for the most part. Sexual innuendo intended to bring about an escalating discussion is the problem, and it definitely does happen, as moonbeam has pointed out. It's unnecessary, and can cause us to lose the forums. We've said this, and said this, and said this. To some, apparently, their need for attention (negative or postitive) outweighs the desire of others to retain the forums.

Well, I voted no, not interested, but I might contribute if it was decided to go that way.
I thinking having to pay $$ would kill the boards. I don't think you would get enough people to contribute long term to keep it going.
I also am fine with PG-13 rating. There may be some things we might want to discuss occasionally, but do we all want it bad enough to pay for it? I really doubt it.
BTW I was not interested enough in this subject to read all the posts.

Can we get a list of words that trigger an issue? I think it's going to be a moot point, as it appears that few are interested.

I don't know....perhaps it wouldn't be an issue....but I predict a lot of "I pay to be here. I'll say what I want." crap. I could be wrong. Won't be the first time. If someone who pays is banned, I guess they would have a right to ask for a refund and that could be a problem for those in charge.
That being said, I did vote "no" as I'm not bothered by not being able to be vulgar, but I would contribute if that's what the majority wants. I have thrown out the occasional cuss word!

I'm trying to remember any in depth vulgar discussions we have ever had and am coming up short...
I can remember the occasional joke. I know I got two posts deleted on looney's advice thread which mentioned $3x, but i personally thought her answer was hilarious... And it's not like it went beyond two posts? ...

I don't recall any really vulgar discussions either, but maybe that's because they were deleted/stopped before I read them. I've seen the usual "get drunk/get laid" nonsense, but that's it. I admit, tho, that I usually stay away from the threads that start going in that direction, so I've probably just missed it. I hope someone tells me quickly if I stray from PG13.

Archie doesn't break the pg13 rating. Excuse me? I wouldn't have said it if he hadn't done exactly that at least once.
