Rainy day says that Canada doesn't plow and they all make it through just fine in little cars. I'm embarrassed for you :-p. that is how it was a little over a week ago. They had t plowed our street yet and the snow was over the bottom of the cars on my street. My SUV had no problem making it, though. Buy the damn snow blower!

All my neighbors are out shoveling, I'll wait it out another hour or so...sounds like a social hour...I just want shovel, nobody speak to me, and come back inside.
The jacked up 4x4 was probably my dad driving around picking up employees!
Counting the days until my son graduates...this whole "what, it snows in the Wintertime, when did that start" is getting old, real old.

(relieved that Carl does, in fact, exist, LOL--thanks Chiver for confirming it) DH, ODS, and I are home. Our town had school so YDS Is there. ODS is home Sick with a cold. And, unfortunately, our 12 week old puppy is sick so we have to go out in an hour in the worst of this storm to get him to the vet. :-(. He was there for a 4 month check up on Tuesday and seemed fine afterwards. He was howling uncharacteristically at 2:00 a.m. This morning. He wanted to go out, so we did, and he then had a huge poop. He went back to sleep fine. When DH greeted him this morning, he crawled out of his crate and pooped in the kitchen, then went out and pooped and threw up twice. He is now very lethargic. He tries to sit up but is clearly woozy. Oy. Poor little guy. Please send some "healthy puppy" karma his way. Cael, too funny, ODS (if he recovers in time) are headed to Baltimore ourselves tomorrow. We are supposed to be in PA today and tomorrow, but the storm forced us to Change our plans. We are heading out on "ODS' and Mom's EXCELLENT, AWESOME, COLLEGE TOUR". Should be fun--he's a good traveller. See you along 95 South!!! ;-) Hope puppy is ok! My Maltese was VERY sick this fall. Out of nowhere he started vomiting uncontrollably, eventually vomiting blood by the time we got to the vet. He also was lethargic, had diarrhea, etc. He was tested for everything under the sun and no diagnosis. It was a long, slow recovery, prescription diet, medications, etc. he is "mostly" better now but will still have a day every month or so of vomiting and diarrhea. When it happens, I put him and boiled chicken and rice diet for a couple days and he's better. We thought he was poisoned with the whole chicken jerky treat fiasco, he had many of the symptoms, but nothing ever confirmed. Praying for your pup! It is so hard when they are sick cuz they can't tell you what's wrong! You can give him Pepto to help with vomiting and diarrhea and settle his stomach. I use it with my dogs any time the have upset tummies.

GRG hope the pup gets better! That's funny lol, what college are you visiting? (you said it was a college visit or did I imagine that?) We're going to be in Timonium for a convention. Hoping the driving tomorrow morning won't be so bad, I'm taking us down via the Tappan Zee and NJ tpk to avoid NYC. My friend who lives in Baltimore takes that way when they come up to visit, says it's worth the little extra distance to avoid the city.
Went out for a drive at lunchtime and the snow is coming down and it's getting pretty bad up here on the nawth shaw. Hoping we get let out early!

It looks like we got 10-12 inches so far. The lot my car is parked in hasn't been plowed yet. I did clean off my car and started digging the car out, but then I thought, meh. If it is plowed I'll just have to do do all that work again, and if it isn't plowed then I'll just have hubs drop me off at the train station tomorrow (he parked on the street and dug his car out).

I hope Baltimore gets plowed out for all of you traveling. I got the hell out last night after work. For no better than they deal with it at times, you would think they got snow once a decade instead of every winter.

It looks like about 12" so far. It's stopped for now, but it's supposed to start up again later. I live on a major country road but haven't seen any vehicles except the snow plows.
I did a little work earlier, but can't get motivated to continue.
Poor sized foster dog had a hard time getting through the snow to find a place to "go". She followed my big dog's foot prints.

We haven't had snow but we have had storm after storm in England.....and there is a lot of flooding in the home counties. I sat here last night, with a candle.... because the power was down...Hoping our trees didn't fall on to the house. Its because there has been heavy rain in Indonesia. It set a world weather pattern which has given you the arctic blast and in turn us the storms

It should be fine tomorrow. I've got a couple pics from friends. The really bad one was out further and even he got dug out and went joy riding. I am very glad I left though. Snow shoveling would not improve my injuries.
GRG I hope the poor pup gets better soon.

I must say, I'm a little jealous of everyone getting snow! I haven't lived in a snowy region in nearly 2 decades. Its sunny and 70 degrees here in Sacramento today. I know that sounds nice and all, but we are in a severe drought, and the 2-3 days of rain we had last week just wasn't enough. Even our mountains are missing snow. Ya'll wanna send some water our way?
Stay safe and warm everyone!

I really think I'd miss the snow, at least sometimes, if I moved to an area that doesn't get any! I actually love snow most of the time. By March I'm pretty ready for beach weather again though.

All of the colleges, courts and malls are closed today and many have already announced closures for Friday as well. We have 16" of snow in some areas and more predicted to come tonight. Some side streets aren't passable (including mine). Cael, if you're going to the State Fairgrounds, you may be ok. That area has been predicted to get ice instead of snow. The roads to/from the Fairgrounds are very well traveled and should be clear. Some of the local restaurants may not be open if staff can't get in.

Well, they did plow my street but it is worse outside than I said earlier. Timonium had enough snow that a friend who lives there reports that the snow plow got stuck in her cul de sac. A neighboring area got 12"-14" inches of snow, so I'd assume Timonium got the same. Many schools, colleges are already reporting closures. It's expected to freeze tonight and Maryland State Police are asking people to stay off the roads. The Storm is Heading North! Please be careful.

We are an hour north of Baltimore, have over 14 inches, it is still snowing, and practically everything was shut down today.
I would not travel to Baltimore tomorrow.

I thought you were talking about Shaw's for a minute there. Did you get clobbered up there? We moved 20 miles down 128 a few months ago (July) and we have way more snow than I really ever want to see again. And ice dams. I hate friggin' ice dams. The good thing is we have really nice neighbors who take pity on the gimp, aka DH, and very nicely snow blow or plow our driveway. Seriously beats shoveling. Wouldn't be so bad if the damn driveway wasn't so long! Now we're deciding on how much to pay/give a gift card for. Any ideas? We're also thinking about a cookout this summer and inviting them. I also thought about making a couple of flower boxes for the wives. And Greenies for the snow plow guy's dog. P.S. Cael - what was the vote on the Brimbal Ave. project? DH is now "retired" so I haven't been in the area to get a Salem News and find out. Duh. I just realized I can look it up online. What were your thoughts on it anyway? GRG, I hope the pup is much better.

I am so glad I got out of town when I did. My work is in Baltimore and as of now they are attempting to open at 11:30am tomorrow. Its my regular day off so not my concern. I don't have to go back until Tuesday.
