And Gadaffi?? I won't be surprised to hear if he is dead. I'm sure he knows WAY too much to live. I have been reading some weird things he is saying. If even half of them are true-- someone is going to kill him for talking.

Whole governments have tried to take Gadhaffi out. He's still quite active, it would seem. He's not an easy hit, by any means. No "someone" is going to succeed in that goal.

Which is why I wonder if Obama is going to bomb him. As horrible as that would be, I would LOL at it. I think he will go with secret paid assassins, though. Bombs would really mess up his campaign.

Doubt we will bomb them, possible if he continues the attacks and uses the Air Force aginst the people , a no fly zone with support of European nations but right now CNN is saying Bengazi has hundreds of dead and this is the latest from the Huff, not sure if true , but supposedly he is trying a bribe to all the people.. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GADDAFI TRYING TO BUY OFF PROTESTERS - Earlier today, the Libyan government sent a text message to every phone in the country with the news that all government workers will be getting a 150% pay raise, according to a HuffPost Hill source who has been in regular contact with multiple family members in Tripoli and previously provided reliable information. The only state phone company is controlled by a Gaddafi son and it's been regularly sending concessions to protesters. There is a rumor going around the city, he said, that Libyans who have made phone calls to CNN and Al Jazeera have been killed or kidnapped. He said that there is currently an "eerie calm" that his brother said "reminds him of a David Lynch movie, where you know something bad is about to happen."
The African mercenaries, which he guessed number over 100,000, have been painting over anti-Gaddafi graffiti, but using the wrong color paint, leaving obvious reminders behind. Anti-aircraft weapons, he said, are pointed toward the ground rather than the sky. A coalition of Libyans inside and outside the country have started a Facebook group, "World Citizens for Libya," to get information about the crackdown out. Our source is nervous that the media's attention may soon wane before the revolution is won. "It's like, 'Okay Libya, let's finish this,' and that's gonna happen, that's the nature of the news cycle. But we really need to fight that and keep people paying attention," he said

Watching O'Reilly. He brings up a good point. Gadaffi should be arrested, thrown in Gitmo with the rest of the terrorists, and tried for the Lockerbie bombing. They have a good case against him now. How could anyone not agree with that?

Which is why I wonder if Obama is going to bomb him. Not likely, Gawdawfully .... He said, "Now, ruling America is a black man from our continent, an African from Arab descent, from Muslim descent, and this is something we never imagined – that from Reagan we would get to Barakeh Obama."www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3877174,00.html

Analysts: More Libyan bloodshed could prompt U.S., NATO interventionBy Michael Martinez, CNN February 25, 2011 11:31 a.m. EST (CNN) -- If the U.S. military were to intervene in an increasingly chaotic Libya, it would most likely be part of a NATO action in which Libyan bloodshed has reached a humanitarian crisis, analysts said Thursday. As reports emerged Thursday about deadly clashes between leader Moammar Gadhafi's forces and anti-government protesters in the town of Zawiya near Tunisia, analysts highlighted how Gadhafi has already pledged to fight a rebellion to martyrdom. Military intervention "is something which I hope doesn't happen, but it looks as though at some point that it should happen," said Simon Henderson, senior fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/africa/02/24/libya.military.intervention/index.html

From what I can find, choppy seas delayed the departure. As for the size of the boat sent, I don't know why it was chosen. One thought that occurs: Turkish and Greek ships aren't likely to be fired upon. Anything US is. A small ferry will draw less attention and present a smaller, more elusive target.

Seriously, dez, if you think about it there's no way Gadhafi was going to allow us to dock any of our large ships. If we can't land charter aircraft, what would make anyone think he'd let us dock large ships? Basically, it's my guess they were forced to, in essence, sneak those people out of there.

Possible not sneak, but definitly not allow a naval vessel of ours to dock and remove them, even a support vessel, if a incident happened or possible carrying special troops to intervene...had to be a vented civilian third party vessel I am sure.

No Egypt threads running. This one will do. www.foxnews.com/world/2011/02/23/coptic-christian-priest-killed-southern-egypt/Coptic Christian priest killed in southern Egypt Published February 23, 2011 | Associated Press ASSIUT, Egypt – A Coptic Christian priest has been killed in southern Egypt, triggering street demonstrations by several thousand Christians. The priest was found dead in his home. A fellow clergyman, Danoub Thabet, says his body had several stab wounds. He says neighbors reported seeing several masked men leaving the apartment and shouting "Allahu akbar," or "God is great," suggesting the killing was motivated by the divide between Egypt's Muslims and its minority Coptic community. About 3,000 protesters scuffled with Muslim shop owners Tuesday night and smashed the windows of a police car in the city, Assiut. Egypt's religious tension spiked in January when a suicide bomber killed 21 people outside a Coptic church in the port city of Alexandria. Days of protests followed. *I remember the Coptic Christians protesting with the Muslims just a few weeks ago.*

We want a decisive, rapid and courageous resolution from you," Shalgham told the Security Council on Friday. Speaking out against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Shalgham said, "Gaddafi and his sons are saying, 'either we rule you or kill you'". At the UN meeting, Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary general, and Libya's entire team of envoys at the world body urged the Security Council to act quickly to help stop the bloodshed in the North African state. "It is time for the Security Council to consider concrete action," Ban told the 15-nation council, which gathered to receive a draft sanctions resolution against Libyan leaders. "The hours and the days ahead will be decisive for Libyans." Diplomats said a sanctions vote could come on Saturday. Earlier, Ibrahim Dabbashi, Libyan Deputy UN Ambassador, said the situation in Libya would get worse and more corpses would be piling up. "We expect thousands to be killed today in Tripoli, so I call on all the international community to intervene now and to send a clear message to Colonel Gaddafi that he should stop the killing now," he said. By some estimates, thousands of Libyans have been killed in recent days in clashes between forces loyal to longtime leader Gaddafi and anti-government protesters. Flash..Just picked up by Debka...not sure if true, not yet reported on CNN, what I am watching..Debka say foreign advisors / US/ British/French HAVE enterd LIBYA ..Bengazi and Eestern areas of LIBYA..read it here..no comments from me beyond I am just reporting here....not sure if true. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- www.debka.com/article/20708/-------------------------------------------------------- US military advisers in Cyrenaica. Qaddafi's loses his air force DEBKAfile Exclusive Report February 25, 2011, 1:46 PM ( HMS Cumberland puts into Benghazi portHundreds of US, British and French military advisers have arrived in Cyrenaica, Libya's eastern breakaway province, debkafile's military sources report exclusively. This is the first time America and Europe have intervened militarily in any of the popular upheavals rolling through the Middle East since Tunisia's Jasmine Revolution in early January. The advisers, including intelligence officers, were dropped from warships and missile boats at the coastal towns of Benghazi and Tobruk Thursday Feb. 24, for a threefold mission: 1. To help the revolutionary committees controlling eastern Libyan establish government frameworks for supplying two million inhabitants with basic services and commodities; 2. To organize them into paramilitary units, teach them how to use the weapons they captured from Libyan army facilities, help them restore law and order on the streets and train them to fight Muammar Qaddafi's combat units coming to retake Cyrenaica. 3. The prepare infrastructure for the intake of additional foreign troops. Egyptian units are among those under consideration. Click here for first debkafile report of Feb. 21 on the Cyrenaica insurgency. Qaddafi was shaken up badly Friday, Feb. 25, when many of his air force commanders decided to no longer obey his orders or those of his commanders, debkafile's exclusive military sources report. This loss deprived him at one stroke of one of the key pillars sustaining his fight for survival against the opposition since Sunday, Feb. 20. It means he is short of an essential resource for recapturing the eastern half of the country where half of Libya's oil wealth and its main oil export terminals are situated. Friday, NATO Council and the UN Security Council meet in separate emergency sessions to consider ways to halt the bloodletting in Libya and punish its ruler Qaddafi for his violent crackdown of protesters." ------------------------------------------------------- {Click on Link to read article}

'What took you so long': Stricken Libyan rescue boat finally leaves Tripoli, but why did they take so long to depart? Boat packed with U.S. citizens finally sets sail
"US citizens". You mean convenient US citizens who are really just Libyans who spend large parts of the year in their homeland but return every so often to the US to maintain their meal ticket. Same thing happened in Lebanon in 2006 when all the "Canadians" there blamed the government for not responding fast enough to get them out of that hellhole. This is the thanks you get for taking in third world scum. You want to spend more than say 2 months out of the country and you were not born here? See ya.

I have more than a "clue". That organization is a corrupt farce that has been skimming "dues" since day one. Kofi Annan? What a pitiful excuse for a leader for anything. Some great parties they throw, I'll give you that.

Latest from Libya..possible he , Gadafi , is running out of troops loyal to him, to arm kids , give a car to ride and terrorize the city..where the poor are , seem to be in the hands and control of the insurgents and more and more of the populace seem to be moving to the capital to confront him. As scary and dangerouse as it sounds, the reality is, as he runs out of $ to pay these so called supporters. they , supporters, see the anger of the crowds and realize what may happen to them if they fall to them, why stay and sacrifice themselves for what, it possible may be only a matter of time. I see no where for them, Gadifi and family to go, exile, except possible South America. Seems he has a connectiion some where there and if he has the $ to bribe his way there for sanctuary, though if asked to be sent back for trial, and the inducement of say oil at a good price, which country he found sanctuary in would refuse. I have a feeling the end for he and his kids is not going to be a good one. Just my mind going on possibilities. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110226/ap_on_re_af/af_lib----------------------------------------------------------------- libya ..Armed pro-Gadhafi gangs roll in Libyan capital Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011. (AP … By MAGGIE MICHAEL and BEN HUBBARD, Associated Press Maggie Michael And Ben Hubbard, Associated Press – 6 mins ago "TRIPOLI, Libya – The embattled Libyan regime passed out guns to civilian supporters, set up checkpoints Saturday and sent armed patrols roving the terrorized capital to try to maintain control of Moammar Gadhafi's stronghold and quash dissent as rebels consolidate control elsewhere in the North African nation. Residents of its eastern Tajoura district spread concrete blocks, large rocks and even chopped-down palm trees as makeshift barricades to prevent the SUVs filled with young men wielding automatic weapons from entering their neighborhood — a hotspot of previous protests. With tensions running high in Tripoli, scores of people in the neighborhood turned out at a funeral for a 44-year-old man killed in clashes with pro-regime forces. Anwar Algadi was killed Friday, with the cause of death listed as "a live bullet to the head," according to his brother, Mohammed. Armed men in green armbands, along with uniformed security forces check those trying to enter the district, where graffiti that says "Gadhafi, you Jew," "Down to the dog," and "Tajoura is free" was scrawled on walls. Outside the capital, rebels held a long swath of about half of Libya's 1,000-mile (1,600-kilometer) Mediterranean coastline where most of the population lives, and even captured a brigadier general and a soldier Saturday as the Libyan army tried to retake an air base east of Tripoli. The state-run news agency also said the opposition held an air defense commander and several other officers" --------------------------------------------------------------- {Click on Links to read article}

debka.com/article/20712/Qaddafi is set to defy Obama's call to leave, broad UN sanctions DEBKAfile Special Report February 27, 2011, 5:18 AM Early Sunday, Feb. 27, US President Barack Obama called on Libyan ruler Col. Muammar Qaddafi to leave now, having lost the legitimacy to rule since "his only means of staying in power is to use violence against his own people," and the UN Security Council's 15 members unanimously slapped down wide-reaching sanctions on members of his family and regime commanders, calling for an immediate International Criminal Court probe of Qaddafi, his seven sons and daughter and military commanders, on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. In Libya, the breakaway province of Cyrenaica established a transitional government headed by former Libyan Justice Minister Mustafa Abdul Jalil. President Obama, having issued his statement after a long telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, cannot expect Qaddafi's removal to be easy or quick. American, European and possibly Arab forces may need to enforce the Security Council resolution because, unlike Egypt's Hosni Mubarak, the Libyan ruler, according to debkafile's military and Middle East sources, is not about to go willingly. He was fully prepared militarily for the challenge of popular dissent to his rule by creating a well-armed and trained paramilitary force of 20,000 loyal troops outside Libya's conventional army. He also laid up a war chest of many billions of petrodollars stashed out of reach of sanctions enforcers. Living under the pressure of sanctions is not a new experience for Qaddafi who survived them for 20 years of his 41 years in power over his sponsorship of international terrorists. He also withstood an American bombardment of his residence in April 1986. By dismantling and passing to Washington his nuclear weapons program in 2003, the Libyan ruler won another eight years in power. He believes he can escape international and American ire once again, although for the first time he has lost half his country and Western armies may appear on his doorstep at the invitation of the transitional government of Cyrenaica. Libya's final chapter under Qaddafi rule is still to come.
