I was trashing my kitchen cooking eggplant last night. there's an "after" pic in the Christmas dinner thread.

I was trashing my kitchen cooking eggplant last night. there's an "after" pic in the Christmas dinner thread.

Just looked at the picture.  That ìs the problem with fried foods.  Plus it smells up the home.

Having said that, nothing better than fried eggplant subs.

I will never fry eggplant again.   Baking breaded eggplants is sooo much easier and 99.9% as good.

oh, my house totally reeks right now! I had a sink full of dishes last night b/c the dishwasher was still running. I left the used oil in the pan to cool too. I slept in til almost noon and am just now getting around to cleaning up. good thing I won't be here the next couple days (going skiing tomorrow) so it can air out!

Where are you going skiing?  I went up to Mt. Snow a few times but discovered skiing was not for me.  I realized going down hill head first again and again was just not fun.

probably Jiminy Peak in western MA. my sis lives out near Amherst, so I'll be halfway there anyway.

aw, sorry you didn't have fun when you went. I didn't ski until I was in college, but since the balance is pretty much the same as skating, I picked it up pretty quickly.

I'm a little late to the party, but the one thing I wanted to say about the Duck Dynasty dudes is that in my mind they've made their fortunes from essentially blood money. I can sympathize with those hunters who kill to feed their families, but there are a lot of hunters who just like to kill things for the thrill and leave wounded birds to bleed out or drown. 

Of course, it's typical American attitude to actively support violence yet condemn consenting adults for their sexuality.

I'm sticking to my original theory- it was a stunt.  It was an attempt by some people at A&E to make an ideological decision appear to have a business justification.  I remain committed to my hypothesis, unproven though it may be, that A&E thought this show was for their audience to laugh at a bunch of what they thought were inbred, stupid rednecks-- probably originally had Dueling Banjos as the theme song.  They were going for, in my theory, a "People of Wal-Mart" vibe.

What they got were sincere- wouldn't fight on purpose, cuss, or skip their prayers- down to earth, rags to riches, sinners to saints people who put faith and family above fame and fortune and 14 million of us out in flyover country may not eat squirrel brains, but we instantly relate to them- because they're us.

I'm a Staunch conservative and I never had an issue with the show beyond the fact that it was beyond stupid.
