I've had an off month of eating well and I am trying to get back on track, but special events just keep popping up and my willpower is low.
On the plus side, I have still been exercising! 2 or 3 times last week, and I worked out this morning, so that's all good. Weight is back above 200. For some reason I am not as stressed about it as I have been in the past. Maybe because we are actively trying to conceive and it's sort of too late to lose more before trying? I hope to still lose while we are trying, but there's no hope that I'll be at 180 before trying! Unless I cut off a limb maybe!
However, I have also had 2 people ask me if I've lost weight, so I am thinking even my moderate workouts might be making a small difference in my appearance. I'll take it!

OMG, stood on the scale this morning and it said 127.5. Did it again and it said the same thing. Woo hoo! Today's not a gym day, but that makes me want to go hit the elliptical/spinning bike.2.5 pounds to goal. Fantastic! THAT'S the way it's done, ladies and gents. Using your progress as motivation. And rewarding yourself with non-food rewards. Super!

THIS is a very important thing to remember: it's okay to not be perfect! The "all or nothing" attitude is bad. Some days we eat better than others; some days we work out harder than others. It's all about the cummulative effort.

I am back to exercising at our fitness center. I went last night at 9:30 when I got off work and walked/ran on the treadmill for 15 minutes and then did the rowing machine for 15 minutes.
This morning I went and walked/ran on the treadmill for 15 minutes, 15 minutes on the rowing machine, and 15 minutes on the elliptical. I hope I can keep it up. As long as I don't skip a day I might be ok but when I skip a day or two I just can't get going again.

ilovedolphins I too am struggling with getting back into a good routine. I have gotten out of the habit of exercising before work.
I have been getting in my steps, but it is a constant struggle. Too late into the evening, get up in morning no motivation.
Tomorrow, I think the rule will be no computer until 2500 steps. Let's see if I can keep to this goal.
Keep up the good work everyone

I haven't done kettle bells this week... DH and I have been working late every night this week plus my lower back has been hurting. I need to get my core strengthened again. Something happens when I get home from work... All thoughts of workouts just escape me. I am so mentally exhausted from work that I seriously just turn my brain off and don't want to think about anything... Except maybe candy crush. I have a couple books that I can't even start reading because that seems too much. There is no break on the horizon... So I just need to figure it out! I am really going to try and get with it as soon as I am done taking my dog for a walk after work. Must remember!!!

Uuuuuuggggghhhhhh, having a massive backslide! I rewarded myself for surpassing my goal with food and I haven't been able to stop. I also only worked out on Tuesday this week so not only am I eating poorly (for me, poorly = quantity and lots of dessert. Mmmmmm, chocolate) but I'm also being lazy. Sigh.
Is this just self-sabotage? Is my body telling me I haven't been eating enough and it's overcompensating? Doubtful since I haven't been overly hungry or felt like I was missing much. Really disappointed in myself.
And I have a travel wedding this weekend and it's always very hard (for me) to behave when I'm out of my routine.
Ok. Pity party/rant over. Moving forward.
Tonight, I will eat the delicious, fresh greens already in my fridge for dinner. I will get up tomorrow am and do my Friday Five miles. I can pack some greens and healthy food for the afternoon and find healthy seafood for dinner. I will find some kayaking on Saturday to get some good exercise in and let myself eat wedding food without feeling guilty. Sunday, I can run/swim/something outside and eat crabs and resume my typical routine on Monday morning.
This backslide is a blip, it does not need to define my behaviour moving forward. (trying to psych myself up, can you tell? haha....).
Thanks for listening!

Worked out for the first time in 3 months. Can barely move. Working to get past this back to the routine. I think I'm coming back ladies - DH and I just decided to do IVF, and I want to be in as good shape as I can before going into that and the pregnancy gauntlet. The fitter and trimmer I am, the more chances things will go well. Unfortunately working out yesterday means I spent all day today eating like a crazy person. Also, I think I have an ulcer and I wind up eating all the time to ward off the nausea. So I need to have a plan for all this!

welcome back Pants!!! today, Dh and I hit up the produce morning and then spent some time cleaning and chopping veggies. We've both got salads w/ lean protein prepped and packed for the week. I made some homemade granola a couple of weeks ago to go with greek yogurt. so breakfast is covered as well. The tricky part will be keeping dinners under control, especially since we've both been working so much... but hopefully we can pull it off. Oh... and we just did our sunday kettlebell workout. we just booked our Caribbean vacation for next year... back to st. croix. We've got 7 months to go! Ideally, I'd like to drop 30 pounds before then. DH hopes for 50. I think if he's willing to keep it up then we can really work together and get it done! also- weighed in this morning and am 1 oz above my lowest weight of the year. so my last few weeks of slacking and such hasn't done much damage. now i'm ready to see the number go down!

Oh yes... Now I remember why I put off the kettle bell workout for so long. So many kettle bell squats... Which makes it super fun running up and down the 3-4 flights of stairs to get on and off the El!!! Judging by the way I hobbled down the stairs in my building, I am going to have some pissed off people behind me when I get downtown and have to take the stairs down from the train.

I made a fresh cucumber and tomato salad this weekend with homemade vinigarette dressing - yum! I also bought a bag of cherries. LOVE those things! Probably because we can only get them for a very short time each year and they aren't cheap!
I also checked out a book from the Library: "Body By You" by Mark Lauren. It's probably old but every now and then I like to see if I can change-up my workouts and wow, there are a couple of body-weight-only exercises in there that are killer! I think one is called the "pistol" - a one-legged squat where you lower your butt almost all the way to the ground and stand back up, unassisted, with your other leg extended out in front of you. Pretty sure that is bad for the knees so I don't know if I'll attempt that one.
Anyway, the book is very brief and matter-of-fact, which I like.

Finally had a day of sticking to diet and exercise! Have finally convinced DH to try circuit training with me to build muscle, so we did the workout together last night. Unfortunately, I did not kick his ass as much as I wanted to. Stupid men with their stupid additional muscle mass! But it was good, generally, and not as sore today as the last few days. Getting back at it!

And I've hurt my foot. Can barely hobble. Ugh! Sent from my Nexus 10 Uh oh! What did you do? Hopefully something minor that will heal quickly! I have no idea. It was bothering me a bit over the weekend but nothing major and it was fine... then I woke up this morning and i could hardly put any weight on it and had to hobble to get around. It is on the side of my foot below where my inner ankle is but above my instep. There's a bone there and it is really tender to the touch and it hurts when I move it from side to side. I stayed home today, because commuting into work would be pretty much impossible. I've been icing it for about 15ish minutes every hour and have kept it up. it is feeling a bit better than this morning. so that's good. Pants - awesome that you and the hubs are back at it! supposed to have a kettle bell work out today, but don't think that is possible. Going to try and figure something out. I can do dumbbell workouts while seated.

Huh, well that's weird! No bruise or mark? I know sometimes I'm in a hurry and will smack into something and not even remember until I see the bruise. Well, hope the ice works and a seated dumbbell workout is a good idea. Sometimes I do my weighted arm exercises while standing on one leg - adds a little difficulty and helps me work on my balance. Maybe give that a try? Just don't topple over and injure yourself worse!
ners, keep working on the pullups and planks. They take consistent effort but progress is really gratifying!
bsbound, yes, good to hear you're getting back on track, especially if you think you may have an ulcer. Any kind of physical activity helps the body and organs function better.

Sorry I haven’t checked in. I’ve been crazy busy. My class started, I've learned tons. I've kept up my walking. I added in a few jogging spurts, finally built up some strength and started getting home sooner, so I lengthened my distance. Lately I've had a hard time getting out of bed and it has been making my morning rushed. I finally lost 2 lbs though. I've been sick, stressed, and not sleeping well. A lot of stress at home, I'm looking forward to Halloween, it should be all over by then.

I woke up early to go to the gym this morning. Turns out I had a leak and sopping wet running shoes. Sigh. At least the gyms shoes were the only thing ruined and I was able to use my "gym" time to clean up the mess. And I have to buy new running shoes, because I just can't wear the ruined ones again. They are SO GROSS! I can't decide, should I be excited to buy new shoes, or should I be pissed that I'll be out $100 for new, good shoes?!? I know, #firstworldproblems.

The scale moved down... Even with PMS, bloating and a little bit of pizza last night. Hooray. The feel is quite a bit better but still hurts a bit. Trying to still keep resting it and icing it a few times a day. Kettle bells tonight plus a core workout. Happy Thursday!

Think of them as a new car and keep track of when you buy them and how much mileage you put on them! And, I know it's hard because good shoes are expensive, but I have at least 4 pairs at a time that I rotate daily. Now, I don't run. At all. I'm a weight-lifter, high-incline walker, or elliptical user so rotating shoes according to each workout helps my feet. But, this takes planning for me because I'm not your rich YMer my any means! I'm on a budget.

greeniis10: I bought new shoes tonight. I, too, rotate between pairs, so it's important I have the right number for the rotation Or, I'm just deluding myself into thinking it was ok to spend so much $$$. But, I now want to go run in them, so it's good motivation for tomorrow morning!! Rationalization is a wonderful thing
