After a couple of frustrating shorter sessions on the elliptical I manaaged 40 minutes again yesterday, and the scale was down to 129 this a.m.

Greenis- that is what I generally do if I find myself eating ramen... But I was being a greedy goat with the salt!
Kept my sodium in check and drank plenty of water/ tea yesterday. Scale was down from yesterday... Only .5 pound up over my lowest.
Today we have our reviews and find out our merit bonus and merit raise. Fun fact- my supervisor was fires in April... So our reviews were conducted by the director of finance and 2 other people who served as our interim supervisors. I got to view the written appraisal and I am pretty happy with it... Hoping they show me the money today!!! Fingers crossed!

Glad to see this thread is more active!
I've been doing moderately well tracking on my fitnesspal, I haven't been great so weight is still hovering around 200. (I also blame PMS!) But!! Here's the great news!! I woke up 3 times this week at 5:30am to get a workout in!!!
Not sure if y'all remember, before I ha dmy baby I'd work out 2 or 3 times a week in the morning before work, but with anew baby it was impossible for me. But I now have a one year old, and I've been pretty well rested for months, so it was time to bite the bullet. Plus, I have this DVD work out set that I like, and I was excited about trying it. It's a kind of knock off version of P90X I think. But my heart rate is up, I'm sweating and various muscles are aching! I feel good!!

Scrgrl: I’ve walked every day this week, so my steps are up. I’m not quite reaching 5000 steps every day, so I think this will be my next goal. It sounds low, but I don’t carry my phone at work or at home. Minnesotapaintlady: I haven’t taken pictures yet, I need to figure out where to store them. My phone and computer are pretty open with my kids. I feel my body is already changing, so I’m wishing I had already. Kilroy: Last weekend DH and I ate fast food, ice cream TWICE, chips, and beer. Yep the scale went back up a pound for me too. This week I’ve been eating more salads so I’m hoping it starts moving back in the right direction. I just have to survive the weekend, including a party Saturday night. Mizbear: Congrats on the promotion! Even if it is wearing you out. Sarcasticgirl: it has been raining here too, or foggy. I haven’t tried my bike yet. Sending good luck for a big raise!

Ooh, me too with the flavored water - citrus fruits or cucumbers. So refreshing! And, considering it's been 100 degrees (or close to it) the past 3 days I'm doing anything I can to stay cool. I sure miss the carefee days of being a kid when this heat never bothered me at all. We went to a large, indoor aquarium on Sat. and walked around there for several hours. Was nice to be inside but slightly active at the same time. Unfortunately, we went out to eat later that night (at a place I should know beter than to expect much from) and literally the ONLY thing on the menu I could eat was a side salad. They served it with a packet of dressing which was probably not kept at the right temperature and I'm pretty sure I got food poisoning (or something close to it). I was SO sick Sat. night and all day Sunday. No workout for me this weekend. Anyway, feeling better today, so I'll fit in whatever I can after work today.

Kilroy just think if had the brownie without doing the workout.
June Recap
Not too good on steps. A little more than 382,000. Not as high as I would like. I was shooting for 425,000.
Weight is down 10 pounds for the year. Considering my eating and drinking habits lately this is a good result.
My July step goal is 382,200.
I am hoping to walk 4.5 million steps between July 1, 2014 thru June 30, 2015.

Thank you, SC and ners, for the reminders that exercise is about more than calories and that all of it counts.
I have started doing ten pushups as soon as I get up in the morning, and I think they are finally getting easier.

And as soon as those push-ups get easier add one or two more! Your body (and mental health) benefit the most from constantly challenging yourself, meeting those challenges, and tackling new ones.
Sometimes a little tweaking is needed, though. I've griped on here before that I'm struggling to get past the 2 min. mark on my planks. What I usually do is start my weight workouts with a 2 min. plank to get my heartrate up and then finish with another. However, that's becoming negative for me because I've reached a plateau, so I decided instead to add TWO 90 sec. planks to my weight routine: 2 min. plank to start 90 sec. plank mid-session 90 sec. plank to end I'm sure the benefits are about the same?? Anyway, no sense turning a positive into a negative. I'll just figure out a way to make it work for me.

I couldn't get myself out of bed to go to the gym this AM. I swore if I stayed up to watch my late TV show (which ended at 10pm here, so really, NOT LATE), i'd get up. Nope, wasn't happening. So I forced myself to take a 2 mile walk after work. Which was actually really nice, and turned into 2.5 miles. There were lots of disappointed (and drunk) soccer fans out walking too, but they just made it more enjoyable At least I got SOMETHING in today.

Ugh Complete step backwards. Weight is up, exercise is down. Time to get back on track.
Short term goal get 7 day average up. It is just a tad over 10,000. Need to move that number up.
Have a great week everyone.

This past week has been a struggle for me. If I don't sleep I am absolutely worthless. Incoherent, snappy, etc. Well, considering there have been non-stop fireworks EVERY night since last Wednesday, needless to say I'm barely functioning. Due to fire bans here this is the first year since 2010 fireworks have been legal so people are making up for lost time, I guess. Yes, they're pretty, the kids love them, etc. but WHY must it be every night until at least midnight?? Don't other people have jobs or do they just not need to sleep like I do? Endless questions... They all better be grateful that I'm too lazy to drive around the neighborhood and see who the culprits are and then pull up to their houses and start honking my horn @ 6:30 AM every morning on my way to work! Phew, anyway, it's also been 100+ degrees, so cardio has pretty much been neglected, but I did get in 3 good full-body weight workouts over the past 5 days so all is not lost. Plus, I don't rest between sets, so my heartrate stays up and it takes me about an hour to complete all my reps. Good enough for now.

Tonight I can't complain about my extra pounds. I got burned down my back at work and attribute NY extra flubber to it not being worse, as well as the new heavier shirts

Have enjoyed catching up on board reading after dropping off for a little while. Green - your 2-90 second planks is such a good idea! It seems so simple when you see it written down but I never would have thought of it. Just would have kept thwacking my head against the wall. How's it working? Ners - is there some kind of reward that might work if you get your average steps back over 10k before mid-month? Kilroy - ditto what everyone else said! It happened, you can't go back and change it, you can only control what you do moving forward. As an aside, don't you hate wasting calories on food whose taste isn't worth it?? They used to have these ooey gooey chocolate chip cookies downstairs in my office and it was the perfect PMS food. Hit every craving I had. They changed them and now they seem like mass produced cardboard. So disappointing! I won't waste the calories on that crappy cookie anymore. Sadface. Sarcastic - how's it going? Allergies persisting? Miz - hope you heal quickly, sounds rough. Hang in there. Flamingo - it is SO HARD to do the morning thing if you aren't getting up at that time every morning. Good for you for recovering with an afternoon workout. Crazylady - how are those steps these days? Missk - congrats on getting back into the swing of things. One of my baby-having friends always talks about this class she goes to that actually integrates playing with the baby (12 month olds can be heavy!). That probably wouldn't work for everyone but she raves. Today was the weigh-in for one of the DietBet games - I'm 1/1 so far! Game 1 - 7/10/14: 8.9 lbs lost to 185.3 (7/9/14 goal: 7.8 lbs lost to 186.4) Game 2 - 7/10/14: 7.2 lbs lost to 185.3 (7/11/14 goal: 7.7 lbs lost to 184.8) ** 0.5# left to lose before Saturday at midnight!**
I'm also starting to see my body again (happy dance). Unfortunately, any semblance of a chest I had developed is now back to the 'ol mosquito bites, but oh well. I'm going to be okay trading smaller b00bs for fewer fires starting between my thighs with the chub rub. There have absolutely been some slip ups, like the night I innocently went to the grocery store for greens and PIGGED OUT in the prepared food buffet. Then the day this weekend when I drank my weight in mimosas. Pro tip: after not drinking at all for 30+ days, consuming approximately two bottles of champagne is a terrible, very bad, no good idea. Haven't decided if I'm going to do more diet bets since I know the weight loss is going to get harder as I continue to build muscle and get closer to a low (for me) weight. But this has definitely helped motivate me. If I were to do it again, I'd work on integrating a social life back into life and also somehow being more consistent with my food. Always somewhere to improve.

Awesome update, scrgrl47!!! Congrats on the weight loss!
Consistency is so hard! I have stretches of good days and then have a bad day where I cannot seem to even remotely focus. Really annoying when those days happen, but all I can do is put them behind me and move forward.
Yes, the 2 90 sec. planks seem to be much more doable for me. Surely it's mostly mental at this point and I'm sure I'll move past this plateau but it will probably happen when I'm NOT stressing out about it.
Still dragging through the heat and lazy days of summer. Hope everyone has a great weekend and is more motivated than I am!

My mom was just here visiting for 10 days. She of course wanted to eat out everyday!! But, at least we had good weather and she enjoys walking so we got close to a 4 mile walk in every day. I went to the doctor a few days ago and of course they wanted to weigh me. In the middle of the day, with all my clothes on (because of course I weigh in first thing in the morning with no clothes on so they aren't adding to the weight), I came in right at the number I wanted to be at. WHEW! I still feel flabby and cannot wait to get back to my regular routine tomorrow, but at least I didn't balloon up while she was here. I'm sure, however, my arteries have hardened from all the crap we ate!

Thanks, Green! With the help of a very (very) sweaty spin class yesterday morning, I weighed in a few ounces under my last two diet bet requirements :=) I won all 3! Not sure what the overall profit is yet but from the $100 bet, it was $13.33. It was never really about the money anyway but it was a nice motivator and it'll be nice to throw any of the winnings at my student loans. Every extra $40 helps, right?
Because the 28-day game really helped me focus even if for a short duration, I'm going to join 3 more games that start within the next 2 days. Does anybody want to join one of the games with me? Two are $25 and one is $50. These will go through mid-August and hopefully means we'll be fitting into our nice work pants once the fall starts! Once I do the weigh-in's, I'll post the goals.
The key this time: consumption consistency! I'm going to go dry again except for the wedding I'm going to next weekend. Thankfully, there are farmers markets everywhere this time of year and a batch of local greens is right around the corner.
Flamingo - that's uhmmm, quite a long time for a visitor and away from your routine! Kudos for maintaining. Sounds like you also maintained your sanity, wohoo!

sorry for the absence. things have been CRAY-ZEE. I have a fiasco with trying to get my prescriptions refilled and ended up going 3 days without my allergy meds and almost killed someone. but I've been pretty decent since I've been back on them. I just wish there was some magical place I can go and have a break for like a day! I'm going to make an appt. this week with a dr. that does massage therapy, acupuncture and herbal healing. I'll bring up my allergies. I'll freaking try anything! weight hasn't changed, I haven't been working out and my diet has been crappy. the only thing keeping my weight from rising is smaller portions. but i feel pretty rotten and sluggish and i feel enormous. DH and I are starting our old kettlebell routine again tomorrow and the goal is sunday, tuesday and thursday. I realized the other day that i weigh the same as when I got married... but I certainly am not the same size. I was way more fit with more muscle then. Time to get back to the strength training! my 4 year wedding anniversary to DH is next month and I'd like to rock out my wedding dress. and just in case anyone thinks i am insane... I wore an ann taylor sundress that had only a few smidges of white, so I wouldn't look CRAZY! lol scrgrl47- great job on the diet bets! mizbear- oh thank god you are okay! what a horrible accident!!! flamingo- great job at maintenance! greeniis10- 2 90 second planks?!?!? you are my hero! what a core you must have! ners - i swear I'll catch up with you again. I have just been stuck inside so much due to my allergies that I can't rack up the steps like i used to. And I'm going to focus more on strength and less on cardio, but I plan to get in at least 10k most days. Sorry if I missed anyone! DH and I are having a date night tonight and I gotta run and re-do my pedicure and get showered and beautified! Enjoy your weekend!

I have gone to the gym every other day for a month, and the best part is I actually look forward to it. And I'm up to 15 pushups in the morning, which is decent considering I could barely do 5 a month ago.

kilroy, good job! Progress - I've found that is the best motivator! When I get stagnant and hit a plateau is when I start to lose focus. Excellent - keep it up!
sarcasticgrl, thanks for the comments but I feel like I'm way behind everyone else. I mean, wasn't the plank challenges earlier in the thread for longer than 90 sec. each? I didn't participate then because I didn't think I could hack it. But, I'll just keep at it.
I've really been wanting a Bosu ball. Any comments or thoughts on those? I've done a little research but figured I'd as the collective here.

Oh, either reading comprehension fail on my part or just being mentally intimidated and didn't read all the details assuming I wouldn't be able to keep up! Ok, well, now I don't feel quite as wimpy as I did before, thank you for the encouragement and I'll keep working on progressing.

OMG, stood on the scale this morning and it said 127.5. Did it again and it said the same thing. Woo hoo! Today's not a gym day, but that makes me want to go hit the elliptical/spinning bike.
2.5 pounds to goal.
