What are your plans for turkey day?
Are you visiting friends/family?
Are friends/family visiting you?
Are you traveling, if so how far?
Are you cooking?

We usually do our own thing and I cook. Sometimes we had family over, sometimes we went to friend's or family's for TG but lately we seem to enjoy when it's just us and I cook when I feel like it so there is no rushing around. And we have leftovers!
Our friends and family are all local except for my favorite uncle. He's in South Florida. We once went there when he and his wife were first together or they'd come here to mom's before she passed but it's too far to drive on such a busy day.

A cousin who lives a few towns from me (20-25 min) has done Thanksgiving since 1979. She has a HUGE bunch of family these days. Back then I was the only one w/ a kid. Now we pretty much ALL have grown kids-some/many married and some of us have grands.
We have lost a few - my parents, her ILs, her aunt & uncle...........This has been offset by the ILs of her grown kids.

I wish we were getting together with family. Used to get together with DH's extended family. I always enjoyed that.

I am going to my mom's and hubs is spending it with his dad. We rotate families each year and it's supposed to be his mom's year, but my BIL is in Qatar for eight months and this is my niece and nephew's first holiday since he left. This will most likely be hubs' dad's last thanksgiving so obviously hubs wants to be with his dad. We'll probably have lunch with his mom that weekend.
I have a two hour drive and hubs' dad is moving to a care facility this week, which is only 20 minutes from us.

Going to my mom's. I'll be helping with a lot of set up/take down and meal prep.

I am cooking Thanksgiving dinner and then taking it to the vino bar and celebrating with my Italian friends like we did last year. I cook everything and the vino bar owner supplies the wine (sodas and water as well).

I have a friend visiting from London so DH are hosting turkey day for her and a couple of other friends who live hundreds of miles away from family. I am so excited!

Running a four-mile race for charity (benefits a local food bank), then making a small Thanksgiving dinner for the two of us. Family is too far to drive, and they all work on Friday (the day after Thanksgiving).

I'm hosting my immediate family for brunch. sis and BIL split the day between my fam and his, since nobody's house is big enough for all of us. I used to do a big meal, but we switched to brunch a couple years ago for a number of reasons. I like this better now - less fuss in the AM, I can go out the night before like I did back in college, and a much lighter cleanup. oh, and the bonus - everybody's out of my house by about 2pm.

Speaking of the night before...what do y'all eat the night before? I know the tradition is that it's a big night for pizza, according to the consumer statistics. We're having fish.

Thanksgiving we juggle both sides of the family - eating two meals, one at noon and one at 6 pm. The real fun is the U of A vs. ASU game. Half the family went/goes to one school and the other half picked the good school. Everyone comes down to our house in their shirts and we all talk fake smack, and watch the game and eat Tamales. It is a fun, relaxed day.

Either pizza from my stepbrother's restaurant or something quick on the road. It depends on what time I get out of work Wednesday.
I'll be at my grandma's and helping her make dinner. My presence is also probably required at my stepbrother's. I need to figure out what I want to make at my grandma's.

the night before was traditionally Chinese takeout growing up. in college, it became bar food wherever we were staying for the night. if that's what I do this year, dinner will be Mexican food. my friend's band is playing at a bar in a Mexican restaurant on Wednesday night.

I used to LOVE going out the night before Turkey Day! I played volleyball on Wednesdays so it was always "my night" even after we had the kids.

The night before? No clue. I haven't even planned this week's dinners, let alone one day next week.
We typically avoid bars on amateur nights.

We are going on a cruise for Thanksgiving. Most of our family lives out of state, with the exception of FIL. We will have lunch/dinner with FIL Wednesday (go out to eat, we won't make a big meal, FIL is 88), then leave on our cruise Thursday. My DH and I like to travel on the holidays. We figure we can celebrate with our families before/after.

The night before is a pot of chicken and dumplings. Since I've moved up north and have thanksgiving dinner with my in-laws (where everyone crowds in a basement and people serve food from cans *gag*) I make chicken and dumplings the day after thanksgiving for me and DH. But since we're hosting, we'll have them the day before. The yankees go crazy for my homemade chicken and dumplings!

As for the dinner out of cans...not so much. It's not that hard to fix a decent holiday meal. Especially if everyone helps out.

My mom is hosting everyone at her house. At last count there will be 33 of us. I have a large, Catholic family so 33 is actually a pretty small gathering. Special Christmas in January is usually around 60 people.
My mom will make Turkey and most of the side dishes. Those of us local will bring extra dishes that have been assigned to us. For example- I have to bring cookies (for others to enjoy), rutabaga, and clean green beans. Most of the family prefers the processed crap with the cream of yucky soup- I do not so I make the good green beans.
After dinner quite honestly they will all start Black Friday Shopping and leave the men folk home with the kids. A couple of my cousins are coming with out their husbands but all of the grandpas will be there. So they will get handed the little ones while (sexist as it is) the womenfolk go shopping. It's a nightmare trying to shop in a group of 15-20 so if DH and I go we go by ourselves. But this year we will likely just skip the Black Friday thing.
They will hang out in town most of the weekend and leave either Saturday afternoon or some time on Sunday. They are all within a 3 to 5 hour drive from us. They wear me out so I will hide out at my house across town and probably only see them Thursday and maybe Friday for dinner.

Night before- lasagna usually but this year they are have been arguing about who's Tater Tot Casserole is the best so they are planning a "Tot Off" and will probably serve that. With 30 plus people all arriving at different times it's easy to make and easy to pop in the microwave if someone shows up late.

Just us 4 for dinner again this year. We just visited family (500 miles away) last week, so will not be making the trip again this soon. Unfortunately we cook for about 10, even though there are just the 4 of us

My in-laws are coming over... all 3 of them. I think. My one BIL says he's going to be working on his carport. So there will be 7 of us total. DH and I will cook (and I'll try to find something for DS to do to help). MIL will bring something completely unnecessary and possibly moldy.

ODS has a varsity football game at 10:00 a.m. in and against our rivals: the next town over (we SHOULD demolish them). Afterward, darling sister is hosting at her house. I think the number is 19. I am bringing the turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, a big green salad, my world famous apple crisp, a chocolate trifle, and whatever other desserts I decide to make and brie with fig jam and a new-to-me cranberry salsa appetizers. All of that is for the traditionalists. Darling sister is making beef tenderloin. Yummmmmmmmm!!!!!! (I am so NOT a traditionalist when it comes to Thanksgiving.) I will also be bringing several bottles of an oaky, buttery, Chardonnay. We will be eating unusually early for us -- probably around 2:00. I am working retail at the moment and have to be at work at 4:45 a.m. on Black Friday morning. We probably won't see a customer until 9 or 10 -- we don't sell electronics. DH and I will each take our own cars to my sister's (20 minutes away) so he and the kids can stay and hang out and I can go home and crawl into bed at some ungodly early hour so that I can drag my sorry butt out of bed at 3:00 a.m. to get ready for work (I need time for the caffeine and hot shower to do their magic and for my hair to dry. I am high maintenance, LOL.)

I agree. gravy isn't hard to make... gravy out of a can makes me want to vomit. and as far as veggies are concerned- at least get the frozen steamable bags instead of the can! is less effort. oh thank goodness I am hosting turkey day this year.
