NEVER! I get terrible road rage on a number of topics, but people asshats who go at or below the speed limit in the left lane are my biggest peeve. Semi drivers are the worst offenders. Every morning, one will get into the left lane and then drive 5mph below the limit for the next 10 minutes until they finally remember they're supposed to be passing someone. GTF out of my way!

I actually got stuck behind a semi-truck student driver on a 20 mile 2-lane highway with very few no passing zones. He was being extra careful

Guilty. I drive below the speed limit . . . usually 55 on the interstate even when it is posted at 70. Somehow I think you all knew that I usually play by the rules. My students are so used to that side of me that they have now stopped asking me to break them.

70 is the maximum. Unless there's a posted minimum of 60, then 55 is fine in the right lane.

And if it's a single lane and you're driving 45 in a 55 mph zone, look behind you. If there is a line of 20 cars, you might want to pull over or speed up.

When I was in law school in Albany, NY, I went to a symposium in Boston with 3 other women. The woman who drove was petrified of getting a speeding ticket (I think she thought they were punishable by death or something) and she drove 5 miles per hour under the speed limit in the middle lane of the Massachusetts Turnpike. I though she was going to get us killed since we were going a good 20 mph slower than the rest of the traffic.

lol.....at least 20 below everyone else on the road. but that's exactly it - in the middle lane?! was it her car? I'd have insisted on driving, that's just a miserable experience.

I had a pickup truck, so couldn't fit everyone. I offered to pay the ticket if she got one, but it didn't work. She said she was driving "safely." No amount of explaining that having tractor trailers rocketing up your butt is unsafe would get her to go faster.

I did not mean to suggest that 55 in a 70 was not by the rules... But 70 In a 70 is not outside the rules either. Heck, even with six points my cruise is set 4 miles over. Wish we had 70 mph limits And agree with the under on a two lane... Note those behind you...

I have 3 very good friends that I will NOT EVER ride with again. One won't make left turns.....in fact, she will go around making right turns until she gets into a situation where she can turn right to get where she wants to go. Thank goodness she's terrified of driving on highways.
The other one doesn mind driving on highways (egads), but will wander around on the interstate highway driving 45-70 mph, left foot at the ready to hit the brakes, slows down on curves even when the speed limit is 30 mpg.
Friend # 3 is a wife of a cattle rancher. In her part of the world, she is likely the only traffic on the highway, Therefore, she will spend half her time wandering over into the other lane on a 2 lane road, thinks stop signs are silly as there's no traffic anyway.
I'm not sure which one is the worst driver, but I will not ride with them again.

The only time that you are reasonably safe going 5 mph under the speed limit on the Mass Pike is when you're gunning it from the onramp into the flow of traffic.

Country driving is s different breed some times.
I guess most people haven't flicked their headlights off at night to check nothing is coming before blowing through a stop sign?

You are kidding, right? I did feel dumb one night as I waited on a redlight at 2 a.m. in the middle of a small town where everyone had gone to sleep. But I still waited. By the way, I always drive in the right lane. You guys can have the other two.

Some states, such as TN, where I live-- can use the left lane just as they use the right, as long as they are going the speed limit. It's not just a passing lane. Anyway, I often use the left lane going to school because people are rude and I find it hard to get in that lane when I need too. I usually drive 60 (5 miles over the limit) and still I get mad looks and tail riders. Sometimes I move and let them pass if I think I can get back over soon enough when I need too. I find that most people are speed demons, rude, and expect you to constantly move for them to allow them to 'race' down the highway.

Do I drive below the speed limit, you ask. If some A-Hole is on my bumper and pushing me, you bet I will.

So much uproar over slow drivers. Why not as much uproar over texting drivers?

And if it's a single lane and you're driving 45 in a 55 mph zone, look behind you. If there is a line of 20 cars, you might want to pull over or speed up. In CA it's the law that if you are driving slower than the speed limit and you have 5 cars following you, you must pull over to the shoulder. Earlier this year I was driving down the mountain road of the cabin and someone was too afraid to pass a bicyclist. Speed limit is 35-55 depending the section. The bicyclist was riding at 25-30. The normally 30-45 minute drive took over an hour and I had over 400 miles to go I blame them both. CA recently passed a law that says you have to give a bicyclist 3' to pass. This road had no shoulder. But this bicyclist was one of those speed racers and he and his buddy went from riding on the far right to riding side by side taking up the whole lane. I really wanted to stop the guy when I passed him and say if you want to be treated like the vehicle you are than you need to pull over in the turn-outs like every other vehicle when you have 5 or more vehicles following you. I think that by the bottom of the hill we had a parade of 20 cars!

As long as the texting drivers are going the speed limit, obeying other posted rules (not running stop signs, swerving, etc.) and not otherwise endangering the surrounding drivers, they can do whatever they want. I don't care what someone does while they drive (eat, listen to the radio, talk to a passenger) until it begins to affect me.
It's when I'm stuck behind someone doing 40 in a 55 zone or having to get onto the shoulder because a truck headed the other direction can't be bothered to stay in his/her lane that I get angry. Sometimes these people are texting, and sometimes they're just oblivious.

Texting while driving is illegal here, so I let the cops take care of them.

there really aren't many texting drivers around here, it's a ticketable offense - $100 for the first time, and it goes up after that. so either people have gotten better about hiding it, or they just aren't doing it.
I know I surf FB or text when I'm inching along in traffic, but that's it.

Please tell me you don't live near me.
