OK, this is creepy. The power is out in my home right now, but all my lights and electronics are still on. The phone's out too, but I can still make calls. This is just surreal. My government source confided to me that would happen and it was to confuse the people. Same thing with the dates.

according to hubby, at 6:27 am (and yep, he's one of those annoying types to know EXACTLY what time something happened), our cable, internet & phone all went down. Luckily, I had already had a cable dude scheduled to come out today because of the upstairs cable box not working. We had a booster adapter that went out...he replaced a plug and problem solved! World wide power failure averted! I was more worried about the epic teenager hissy fit kiddo would have had if the internet was down at midnight tonight for the PS4 release. He's had it pre-paid for weeks already, he's already bought 3 games & an extra wireless controller. There are 7 teenagers planning to go to the midnight release and kiddo took tomorrow off from work and has no classes so he can mainline PS4 for the first 24 hours it's out.

Sorry... but I think "kiddo" needs a wake-up call about priorities and values. Missing a day of work/pay after shellingl out extra money for a new toy... that's not an example of mature decision-making. Yeah, the toy is only brand-new ONCE... I get that. So what?

So what? kiddo works 2 jobs & is going to college. He paid for it with his own money. He took the day off from his 2nd part time job, not the 'real' job that is tied to school. You only get to be a kid once. Considering how hard he is working already at age 19 on top of school, I'm not going to kick his butt over 1 day off to be a kid. He has definitely earned it & worked for it. he should be able to enjoy something he's been working for, isn't that the point? Work hard to earn something you want, pay for it yourself & then enjoy it?

As soon as I saw that comment, my thought was "from everything I've read, Steff has an extremely responsible, mature young man." And "took tomorrow off work" sounded like it was planned to me. Not "called in sick", or "skipped work", but "took it off".
Not all kids are lazy pieces of crap. We all know what people say about assumptions...

Thank you Sug & apple. I think he's a pretty awesome kid even tho his room is a pig sty & and his clean laundry never makes it to the folded up & in the dresser stage. but at least he does his own laundry, so not my problem if he doesn't fold it. lol
And this day off was planned, asked for & approved. This is his part time job that he works 2-3 days a week around his school job.

I was doing something and wasn't paying attention. I was on spider duty.

Is ìt possible the spider turned off the power to your home so you would not find him? They are pretty crafty.

Eeew. Spiders. Creepy little monsters! Fugly, too! Blech!
We've lost no power, cats are warm, oven worked, and air conditioning system is optimizing (they installed a "Nest" thermostat with the new HVAC system). All systems are go around here.

The heat is shut off, but there's still warm air coming out of the registers. I can't wait for crazy night to be over.

Go west, young man. Nothing weird happening here as far as power's concerned. That's why it's called God's country.

I thought "God's country" was the upper balcony in an old theater?

There are lights, after lights, after lights flying in the sky heading east to west.

Good for your DS - glad he got what he'd set his sights on and worked for. Guess it's going to be a gaming marathon at your place this weekend.

Last night when he came in, he did the set up routine & then watched a Netflix movie on it. He said that since he had been awake since 6 am, he didn't want to stay up all night last night playing a game.
Then today, he wakes up & goes to Target because they had buy 2 get 1 free on new games for it. When he comes back he has 3 extra teens with him. They played for a few hours & then they all leave to get food & pick up someone else. They came back with 6 extra teens & 8 little Caesar's pizzas.
I haven't seen or heard anything from them in the past 2 hours. lol I figure I'll see the group again around 1 am when they go on another food run.
