You think the meds she is on can be doing this to her? It must freak my uncle out because he isn't on any meds. Sometimes, certain medications can cause changes in mentation in some patients, zib. She's also 78. She may be showing some signs of Alzheimer's, or vascular dementia. Or, it might just be who she is. Maybe, she's always been a little prone to believing every conspiracy theory that comes down the pike. It's really hard to say.

If you go to some of the prepper sites, those people will sit, are you to death. Many are hoping our world falls apart to get it over with, they are that dumb. To not think about what this country would be like without authority. And many hate Obama so much they are wanting to do something about it. I hope the government is watching these sites, we have a lot of really crazy people out there right now. They see a conspiracy under every rock, every move, kind of like Paul. But they are what you call low information people and I doubt many of them understand what they are reading to be honest. But its still getting scary. It will blow over once a different president is in place until we get another minority in then this will ramp up again. These people all say diversity is great until it happened and now "oh my God"! I was going to say many of the P&M threads are doom, gloom, money hidden offshore so the IRS cannot touch it, along with foreign property to escape the zombie apocalypse.

I heard about these dates while I was on a date and asked what my "professional opinion was". We've had drills in the past, they are drills, lights stay on. Mostly it involves phone calls and simulations ("how long did it take this powerplant to call this number" "were phone lines clear" "was procedure followed"...) Even if the world did "go black", powerplants are set up to have "black start" capability--the ability to start power back on, with a hand crank on a generator if necessary, if all power at the plant were to trip off. Some areas would take a while (east coast a few years ago), if it wasn't planned, but power would come back on. They don't even do the trip testing they should at some of these plants because of the lack of backup breakers, redundancy, etc.

I recall, as a young child in the early 50s, having drills at school in case somebody dropped a bomb on us. They'd herd us all into the hall and have us get on our knees, roll into a ball, and cover our heads with our arms. I remember asking my father what good that was going to do. I figured the bomb was going to blow us up, or poison us, anyway - and I was just a kid! We'd talked at home about the atomic bomb and what it did, so I knew enough to know covering my head wasn't going to do much.
We had air raid sirens on the schools here - and practiced drills too. WW2 was well-over, but the sirens & drills were still taking place in school. I was pretty young maybe 6 or 7 - but I remember we had to "take cover" under our desks if the siren went off.
Yeah, right! Like hat was going to protect us from a possible bomb.

I hadn't heard anything about this allegedly imminent catastrophe.
No matter what happens on November 13th and 14th, it doesn't hurt to be prepared for a possible power outage of several days duration. I'll have kerosene lamps and candles and fresh batteries on hand... as always.

I'm remembering the end of 1999, when everyone thought all the computers were going to shut down, & all sorts of horrible things were going to happen. Well, we're all still here. Lmao! My cousin and her boyfriend had a new years party for that and at midnight her boyfriend swtiched off the main braker to the house and everyone was dead silent, until I pointed out that all the neighbors still had lights on

Didn't someone else on this board have a family member who thought the power was going to go out too? Strange

You have 3 more days to buy all the batteries, propane gas tanks, and logs for the fireplace you can before the blackout begins.
Rumor has it all the world's airlines are grounding their flights beginning 12 noon GMT in anticipation of the total world blackout. All planes must have landed at their destination by 9:00 p.m. GMT. There is fear the planes will fall from the sky as the engines burn out.
Another rumor (very strong rumor I might add) is gasoline powered equipment (including vehicles) will stop running at 12 midnight GMT on the 13th. Something about electromagnetic impulses from above. This will be breaking news by Monday according to my well-place source in the U.S. government.

Don't you know everything is bad because we have a minority pres in, once he is out and the old white guy is in again, all problems will be solved. Just listen to a bunch of media and that's the underlying current. Why do you think there is so much hatred, never seen anything like it before and if you listen, whether people say it outloud or not that is the implication. Oh brother. What crock and bull.

Its me. My aunt firmly believes this. By the way I hate Obama too because he's nothing but a liar, not because he is black. But this has nothing to do with my aunt who believes the power outage is real. I was firmly behind Cain and he's black too, last I noticed. Too bad he couldn't keep his dick in his pants. Cuz then the racists who are racist because its okay to be racist if you're black but not if you're white, would have nothing to whine about.

One could interpret that post several ways, depending upon various factors. Having read quite a few of the over 18,600 posts made by the poster in the last 3 years, my own personal interpretation is guided by accumulated experience. As for the allegedly imminent power failure crisis... it will be a matter of public record in a few short days. At that point all the Chicken Littles will have to find or contrive some other threat to obsess over, dramatically.

Isn't that the premise of a TV show? Guess it really won't be breaking news since none of that shit will work A well built plane wouldn't fall from the sky either- too bad the 'new and improved' equipment can't make a turn without a million lines of code- AKA Die by wire

I am from the civil defense era of duck and cover under our school desks. That made the school kids feel safe from a nuclear blast. There were also large underground civil defense shelters stocked with food and water. Everyone needed to know where the closest defense shelter was. That was in the 1950s. I decided at that time, I did not want to survive to clean up.
I don't know when the citizens quit being kept on alert by that.
In the 1970s with the fast rate of inflation, everything was how to prepare for the coming crash. I loved racking in 15% to 17% interest on my certificates of deposit. All I had to do was feed the compounding interest beast.
Stock pile food so it could go stale is what a lot of people did.
Now, the banks are keeping the money for themselves and our savings is worth squat. The problem lies where money is not worth anything.
I now make more money off my credit card dividend on expenditures. There is no safe place to put extra cash to make some earnings and keep it safe and liquid.

Didn't think so...

The light bulbs in the hall leading to the mud room and garage have blown. Is this a harbinger of things to come?
