... Hard to believe she would have time to both record a phone call that will be released tomorrow and remember September 11th as well. ... "Today at 11:00AM ET, Executive Director of Let’s Move! Sam Kass, Partnership for a Healthier America President and CEO Lawrence A. Soler and industry representatives will join a conference call to preview First Lady Michelle Obama’s trip to Watertown, WI to announce a new nationwide effort to encourage everyone to drink more water. The call will also preview an around the clock, cross-network, bi-lingual day of water messages on a dozen TV shows. This call will be embargoed until 6:00AM ET on Thursday, September 12," reads the White House press release. She wasn't on the conference call.

uhmm I'm not seeing an issue here? Can't she do both? Do you think it takes a lot of effort to tell people "drink more water"? especially if it is a cause you believe in and are already a subject matter expert in? Is that really going to distract her from observing and helping the country with 9/11?
If they had Thursday night football this week, would you think the sportscasters are "insensitive" or whatver to 9/11 if they studied up a bit on game film or whatevr on Weds (9/11) for about an hour and then did actual sportscasting stuff (soemthing they are subject matter expert at) the next day on Thurs (Sep 12)?

Drinking more water causes weight loss. Something most of us, including Michelle, can aspire to.

I've been drinking a gallon a day plus other fluids. I've lost weight. If you think you're hungry, you may just be thirsty.

It's more if you drink more water your stomach feels full more and therefore you eat less. Or you're replacing calorie-full drinks with zero calorie water. The water itself isn't making you lose weight (though drinking cold water can help you burn more calories).

Only over here would it be controversial to say that you should try to drink more water.
In case you haven't noticed, Americans are fat. Guzzling soda at the rate we do probably has a lot to do with it.

Its only controversial in the OP because of the date, 9/11/2013. Apparently we are supposed to refrain from anything that doesn't acknowledge 9/11 for the entire day.

Not at all I totally agree with you.....I jut think the fact that she barely even did much on 9/11 other than observe 9/11 makes paul seem even more than he is with this idea AND I wonder what Paul would have thought if Pres Reagan was the president and Nancy would have done a "Just say no" PSA on thurs (9/12) and prep on wed (9/11).....somehow I don't think he would have had a problem with that I really have trouble deciding who is worse, Paul or EVT.........

Dem, not sure if you were dissing Bush with your post, but I do think the 9/11 rememberances almost become an annual advertisement for Al Qaeda. I live near NYC and in the past one of the parts of the official ceremony at Ground Zero was reading off the names of those who passed. I feel for them and their surviving loved ones. However, I can't see all of them as Patriots or heroes as most had no choice about dying that day. They were people who got killed by no fault of their own just like those who will be killed in accidents today or incidents like the Boston Bombing and Newtown shooting.
Given its named Patriot Day I'd rather we be grateful to those who stopped the one plane and those emergency responders who lost their lives saving others. I doubt any of them did what they did for America as at that time I don't think we knew who was behind it all. It might be my perception, but it feels like we are annually remembering/celebrating tragedy versus giving thanks to those who did their best and moving forward. I realize I have the same quibble with Pearl Harbor Day as I don't see the positive in actively remembering such a large tragedy. Apologies to Zib and anyone else I might offend. I just don't see the positive in annually commerating such a horrific incident in our history.

I am curious what PBP can tell us all about this comment of his. I wasn't aware the White House had a welcoming ceremony for Al Qaeda:

Tenn, I attempted to look that up not even knowing that Al Qaeda had a flag. My guess is it may have something to do with Egypt and our embassy there, but that's just a guess.

As run on sentences go it is almost impressive enough to be entered in that literary contest. Not funny or off the wall enough to win though...

Given the "one year anniversary" part, it has to be about Benghazi, but I'm not finding any mention of a flag being raised over the US mission there. Would PBP care to elaborate?

I'm just wondering if the "flag" is metaphorical; I find no mention of that detail in any accounts of the attack.

I imagine paul is referring to the Islamic flag that was attached to the top of a ladder inside the US Embassy compound in Tunis on the 14th (not the 11th, if I remember correctly), Tennesseer. More attention was given to the riots in Egypt than to those in other countries, like Tunisia, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Pakistan, etc. Whether the flag was an Al Qaeda flag, specifically, I don't recall (not even sure they've got one). Islamic militants always use black flags with white Arabic writing on them, but they don't all say the same thing.
