Decoy, Good to see you! I was just kidding! I even wondered in the post if I were the "blacksheep". Hey did you hear the news? American companies' business is so good they are hiring overseas! MSN just never stops telling us new ground breaking information. Still I can not keep from going back there. It(MSN) is like a drug!

Decoy, good morning! I just asked Virgil if he would bring AIG and one other over. Hey did you hear the bad news about Atlanta? The property values fell to worst in the nation. Atlanta is in bad shape! I hope the worst is here and it is improving everywhere else!

BGA, I was wondering how you are doing?? So, I went to look for this thread...let us know how things are going for you and your family, best... watchdog.org/7883/georgia-governor-eliminates-14000-jobs-first-budget-makes-big-cuts/A lengthy list of possible losers includes nothing for the sports, music and aviation halls of fame which have been budget drains for years. There would be no state funds for the Civil War Commission, the State Medical Education Board, the Council for the Arts and the State Properties Commission. ==> Damn, look at how many banks in Georgia are breaking records with the Texas Ratio! Must be 50+ banks that are above the 100 range ... worst in the Union, I do say.... The Texas Ratio for The Park Avenue Bank increased dramatically from 99.48% as of September 30, 2009 to 365.23% as of September 30, 2010, resulting in a negative change of 267.13%.

I'm afraid we are seeing inflation in the things we need, food and fuel.
FT.com / Commodities - World moves closer to food price shock
Corn prices jumped 5 per cent to $6.37 a bushel, the highest level since July 2008.
The USDA said that by August the ratio of US corn stocks-to-demand would fall to a surprisingly thin 5.5 per cent, the smallest cushion in 15 years.
The US is the world’s largest corn supplier, meeting more than half of global import needs. Corn is an important ingredient in animal feed, and the tightening market partly reflects stronger appetites for meat in emerging markets. Record ethanol production in the US will also swallow up nearly 40 per cent of the US crop.
The boom in agricultural prices has lifted the outlook of the agribusiness sector in the US. Cargill, the world’s largest trader of food commodities, said its profits had tripled year-on-year during the second quarter of its fiscal year.

DJ, good to hear from you! I hope things are going well for you and yours! Things are going about as good as could be expected under the circumstances. I overheard some real estate agents talking the other day. Because of the foreclosures, trying to sell a home is like a war zone in North Atlanta. I ask one of the agents, if the government was doing anything to help slow foreclosures? The answer was "nothing". Over a million homes were foreclosed on nationwide in 2010. 2011 starts off with 5 million homeowners two or more months behind. They hope this year is the foreclosure peak. I am not so sure. As the 99ers continue to lose benefits I believe the foreclosure rate will accelorate into next year. Local paper article expected Georgia home values to fall another 6% in 2011. The snow storm really shut down metro Atlanta for about a week. I can only imagine what the state lost from sales tax and gasoline tax declines! The Ga. DOT has spent it's entire winter budget and yet two months of winter remains. Dang even nature is against us! Things look pretty bad overall. On a positive note- we have renegotiated the lease at one location. Worked out great for both parties-win/win. I believe if things do not deteriorate further we might be ok. There is not much left to cut. If we have another double digit decline.... Say it ain't so! Hopefully, we are dragging the bottom now. I am not so sure. Good luck in 2011!

BGA, I am glad to know you are hanging in there! I agree with you, I don't think house prices are done going down, expecting a glut of inventory to hit this spring. I am reposting this here as I think it is really important and see nothing, nothing on the news about it. www.aviationbusiness.com.au/news/teledyne-continental-motors-sold-to-chinaAVIC isn't a company, it's effectively a division of the Chinese gov't. Half the general aviation industry will be buying their engine parts from the Chinese Army. Any one from the red team or the blue team have the brains to call this out? Can it be bounced on national security grounds? It should be. _________________________________________ Subject to clearance by the US Government’s Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Timmy has to sign off.

A little trickery going on there it seems... It looks like a way for a American companies' management to retain their jobs while shipping the company off to China. Standard old school buyout there. Management keeps their positions while the companies employees are dissolved. Ying/Yang Teledyne stock up nearly 10% since the announcement.
Gonna be hard for other small engine manufacturing to compete with 12c a hour labor costs. Kinda gives me a pause for concern as Chinese general aviation is nearly non-existant. Probally a tech gain for their military.

On the Atlanta thing, I had a friend move his construction company from Dallas to Atlanta during their housing boom a few years ago.. He was turning 6 figures a Month and was running 6-8 crews at that time... But now he is down to 2 crews and very little new construction. Mainly just remodeling stuff. He may be moving back to Dallas....

How did America go bankrupt? Slowly at first, then suddenly! Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, England, and many other third world nations all Gone! Wall st. and the politicians want to "kick the can down the road" but that sucking sound you all hear is just interest payments on a debt so big it will bring down many of the industrialized nations. Greece is already in default having to borrow money at higher interest just to service the debt! What a joke. When they do default and survive many other nations will follow. The casacade will lead to hell on earth... as stock markets around the globe cascade down.

bga4444, How goes it! Interesting piece out of the other day on Business Insider as to the 'Dominoes.' And they are not the only ones on report. Unregulated speculative gambling bets (on and off the table) coming at the expense of what and who?

wxyz, and some wonder why people were in protest in Miami having rubber bullets fired upon them for going against Free Trade.
Heck,do you think we would be in the spot we are now if the work would not have been sold out down the road?

Very few Mexicans are working farms anymore. Take the 20-40 illegals out of the picture and we would be in far better economic shape in terms of jobs. We are also spending massive amounts on social programs that are becoming dominated by the illegal Mexicans. Not to mention the destruction of the very culture that founded and was one of the primary reasons for the success of this country.
i agree........ if you are saying we are spending welfare money on people that are not amercians, but the problem is not the mexicans, it is the welfare system.
mexicans were sneaking across the border long before they could get welfare. they, as would anyone else, go to where the jobs are to feed their families.

yeah, yeah maui1. This is a issue I spoke of long back and why it would continue to be allowed. They had the oppurtunity to curb it 50 years plus ago. And you are correct as to who wouldent look for survival and go into 'mode' to accomplish that. This is no different than the massive uprising around the world going on which is survival. And the big 'berg' is melting on containment of. Things certainly are becoming very interesting hey.

paying taxes is another reason not to blame 'illegals'. our tax system is broken, and needs to be trashed in favor a tax system that is simple, fair to all, paid by all, and spent wisely and prudently.

"As one of the minority that actually pays taxes" Every consumer, wheather alien or domestic, pays all taxes in the price of the product consumed - every last cent of Federal, State and Local. Every consumer pays the price of taxes, graft, corruption, bribes.......... It is a fact.

The absolute fact is that 45% of individual Federal Income Tax filers pay NO Federal Income Tax. Many, in fact, get money from the government in the PC-titled Earned Income Tax Credit. People who do have to pay Federal Income Tax are fully justified in calling this a shitty deal. All folks want is for everybody to pay their fair share.

What is sad is the fact that we could close the border COMPLETELY in about a month if we put the military on it in force. The politicians would rather sell out their country for power and votes.
locking america down, would not have been a good idea 200 years ago, and is not a good idea today.
imo, we are attributing all the wrongs to the mexicans themselves and not looking at what makes them want to come here the way they do.
we, americans, always feel that it is always 'the other guy' that is wrong, in all areas of world interaction, when we are the ones that control most things and don't do a good job of doing so.
