this thread isn't making a lot of sense...were a lot of posts deleted??
I'm going to whine becuase I just ate bread and I'm on a low-carb diet....guess what, I can still have a self-pity moment (vacation is in 6 weeks people!) and still care about devestation that happened in Boston.
Geesh

You don't have to see the humor but at least you could back off the idea that I'm belittling the events in Boston because I'm happy I don't have lice and that thought comforts me. It was a self centered post about self centered ways of comforting oneself. Nothing more. Boston was awful. And we can still talk about other things. milee, I don't know if that was directed at me or not but I wasn't trying to say you were belittling Boston... I was saying the opposite, that it's not selfish to be concerned about your own problems just because there are huge tragedies in the world. Basically, I don't like it when parents say to their kids, "So what if your teacher yelled at you today? You know there are kids starving in Africa, right?" It's one thing if knowing there are kids starving in Africa helps the kid put the problem in perspective, but it's quite another if it's coming from someone else because then it's more like "shut up - your problems don't matter." So I was just trying to clarify that my intent was not to come across as "stop whining, your problems don't matter." Maybe I'm the one who's not being clear today... ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/shucks2.png) Sorry if that's the case.

FB, I don't think that was directed at you, although it is hard to tell because the person at whom it was directed deleted several posts. And holy crap, I agree with Miss T too! I think this is the second time in a year, what is going on? ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png)

I celebrate small victories to make me feel better. Source: thought catalog (link below) 25 Little Things That Give Us Big Smiles 1. Your coffee comes exactly as you like it, with the precisely right ratio of cream to sugar. 2. You make all the stop lights when you’re in a hurry. 3. You come back from the bathroom at a restaurant and your delicious meal is already at the table. 4. Waking up thinking you have to get up and go to work, but it’s a Saturday. 5. Having a truly problem-free flying experience. 6. Flicking through the channels on an otherwise boring night and a movie you love, but would never think to watch, is just starting. 7. Arriving at the subway station right on time to catch both your trains, original and transfer. 8. Driving through a crowded parking lot and finding yourself right behind someone in the first spot who is just leaving. 9. Waking up in the middle of the night and seeing it’s 3:00am and you still have a few hours to sleep. 10. Finding out they are bringing back one of your favorite cancelled TV shows. 11. Checking your bank account the morning after a long, crazy night out and discovering you only spent $30. 12. Finding money in your coat pocket from last year. 13. Snapping a good photograph of everyone in the picture on the first try. 14. Getting out of a traffic ticket. 15. Saying the exact retort you want, at the exact moment you want to say it, instead of thinking of it after. I call these “Drop the mic” moments. 16. A nice cashier says “I can take you over here” as you approach a long line at a register. 17. A song perfectly fitting your mood comes on the radio or your playlist. 18. Realizing you’ve thought of a truly perfect gift for someone. 19. Cooking a steak to a restaurant-perfect medium rare. 20. Realizing you’ve put together the absolute perfect outfit for an occasion. 21. That moment when, while hanging out with a new acquaintance, you both realize you’re actually going to be great friends. 22. Hitting a stride in a workout where you feel so good/strong that it feels like you could knock out John Cena. 23. Seeing that the weather is going to be absolute perfection for an outdoor event. 24. The moment of excitement after you’ve just booked a vacation to somewhere you’ve wanted to go for as long as you can remember. 25. Laughing so hard that you can’t catch your breath at something that is probably only funny to you and maybe one other person.

Milee, I am having one of those days too. I got my hair cut...with bangs. The woman f'ed up my bangs and then I tried to fix them....and then I f'ed them up even more... had to put the scissors down and walk away because I didn't have much left for bangs. So...I opened a bottle of wine and said "someday they will grow back, until then I can wear a hat or pull them back in a barrett...or I can buy a wig."
I still care about what happened in Boston. But it is ok for me to cry about my bangs over a glass of wine too. I don't think that we are horrible people for having a bad day.

Sorry to hear about your day, Rukh. That does sound like a lot of things piled up at one and conspired to make your life pretty miserable. Glad you don't have lice and that you still think today is good. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)

It was responding to a post that has been deleted. I just got back from the dentist - still totally sober for the record - and it looks like quite a few posts were deleted when I was gone. But life is still good. I had an uneventful dentist visit (with how this morning went, I was pretty sure she'd discover I had some rare form of tongue cancer) and I still do not have lice. That I know of, anyway.

I went to a new stylist a few months ago and he totaled f'ed up my hair color. My hair was YELLOW. I am not kidding... what he did could never fall under the category of blond. I looked like Charlie Brown's sister, Sally. This happened on a Friday and I couldn't get in to see my old hair dresser to get it fixed until Tuesday so I wore a hat for 3 days. This wasn't a huge deal. I didn't cry or anything. It just kind of sucked. I actually laughed about it later because I seriously looked like a cartoon character!!

If you're sober post-dentist, then clearly your dentist is not a very nice person. You should be flying right now. And [could] everyone [please] STOP TALKING ABOUT LICE IT IS CREEPING ME OUT!!! ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)

Now instead of saying "at least I don't have lice" I will be saying "at least my crotch does not have lice..."

"Milee, is your head itching yet? If I think/talk about lice too much, that happens to me. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png) " Yep. Ever since my sister called in a panic last night, my entire body has been itching. "Could be worse...at least it isn't your crotch itching ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png) " ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/wte.png) Uh, that had not occured to me at all. Of course now it does itch because you've freaked me out. Thanks.
