Well, the "why aren't we talking about it" story is everywhere today, so it appears to be a self-correcting problem.
Personally, I just don't follow many murder trials. It seems like he very clearly broke the law and killed newborns and the justice system is taking care of him. There's not a novel legal defense or anything like that at play - it's just a bad guy getting punished. The sad truth is that enough horrific things happen in this country that just being tragic isn't enough to make something interesting.

*groan* This is anything but a "major" national news event, but it has been covered in the media. It's murder. There are murders committed every day world-wide. Must we wade through the gory details of all of them? Not everyone scours the internet for news of blood and gore, paul. It takes a "special" person to do that.

The issue is there is not a story (apparently) on Politico covering this criminal case while there are other stories like: A search for "Susan Komen," yields 166 matches, ... funding of Planned Parenthood.
A search for "Todd Akin" results in 865 matches, ... a nobody Senate candidate ... (from the link in the OP) So Politico covers political events but doesn't cover criminal trials. Seems like a reasonable thing for a website titled Politico to do.

Yeah, I'd heard this as well. Sick.
Ten--it's not your mouth that makes the noise. Easy to scream without one, I'm sure. Impossible to talk or control the sound.

The man at the center of the trial is a man aptly described as a butcher in the tradition of Joseph Mengele who has been operating a "house of horrors" and there is NO lamestream media coverage of this at all.

Yes there is, I saw a news story about this guy a couple weeks ago.

He's a bad doctor running a horrible clinic. Unfortunately, he's not the first bad doctor running a horrible clinic, which is why it isn't a sensational news story.

He also isn't the first doctor who ran into trouble performing botched abortions - in fact there used to be a whole lot more of that, prior to abortions becoming legal.

Not sure what you're up in arms about.

$5 says this story is utter rubbish.
edit: that is without any review of it, whatsoever.
edit2: this story was covered by the Atlantic, which is about as liberal as it gets.

It's not easy being green and cutting the throats of tiny new born babies.

If the baby had no mouth, how could they tell it was "screaming"? Sworn testimony. You don't need a mouth to scream- just to control it. Doesn't matter if there was no screaming- this is sick. The fact that you'd question the facts of the case as if it would what? Mitigate the claims?

I recall this case when it broke. It was all over the news. Now, it's gone to trial. It's in the news again, just as most lurid murders and the trials of their perpetrators make the news. Do we really need to slog through all the muck again? It's already been done to a fare-thee-well. The courts will now deal with the "good doctor". We sure can't do it here.

What she describes doesn't make sense from a fetal development aspect. I'm sure the court will deal with that issue if the court deems it important to the case.

Is that an accusation or suspicion on the table somewhere?

Pretty sure that was because there was all kinds of photographic evidence that the girl was completely passed out while the boys entertained themselves, but because the people doing the fingering were football players, the coaches and police initially managed to get it the whole thing shoved under the rug.
If they'd prosecuted the boys when the pictures first surfaced this wouldn't have been a big story. It was the cover up that was the story.
Not sure how that compares to a criminally negligent doctor.

You implied it is possible. It seems you suspect it. I'm just wondering what your possible basis for this is? I think you just want to disagree to be disagreeable- or because you just don't want to face the fact that this isn't one doctor. This is the doc that got caught. This IS the abortion holocaust in America, and it is commonplace.

Wouldn't you need lungs to scream? Don't the eyes and mouth develop before the lungs? I thought the lungs were the last thing to develop. I know a lot of premies - and they all have eyes and mouths. And almost all of them had to stay in the hospital because their lungs weren't developed yet.

When you find out babies are being born alive and butchered- beheaded. And there are limbs in jars, women being left drugged unsupervised for hours...as the story goes- a "house of horrors" that's bigger news than some 30 year old college twit begging for taxpayer funded birth control being called, of all things, a slut in the heat of the moment by a radio talk show host in mid tirade. But somehow that managed to be front page 'outrage' to the point some people in the media who I guess thought they'd be safe from it were openly talking about repealing the first amendment.

Who knows- maybe the poor victim was butchered before being dragged out to be "dealt with" by the nurse?
