I did my marathon shopping today: CVS - I had my quarterly rewards to use. Got some clearance Easter candy. WAGs - I had two $1RRs to use. I found some Smokehouse BBQ almonds on clearance for $1.25/can. Arteagas #1 - Fuji apples for $.44/lb. Staples - converted some rewards into rebates and found some hardback books (good authors) on clearance for $1. Walmart - Prego for $.57/24 oz. jar after price match and $.75/2 coupons. I stockpiled (10) Costco - cottage cheese, cheez-its, Kirkland mixed nuts, and Kraft Parmesan cheese Arteagas #2 - more apples. 99 Cent Store - broccoli, bananas, carrots, snow peas, bell peppers, bagels, Philly, and English muffins. Grocery Outlet - Oscar Mayer deli roast beef (7 oz. for $1.49) and Sara Lee deli corned beef (10 oz. for $1.79). I grabbed the wrong size of the Kettle chips so I ended up not getting any. Boy, I'm pooped. I made homemade bean soup yesterday. I hope DH doesn't mind having it again tonight cuz I'm done for the day.

Dancin, thanks for looking!
I hope everyone is doing okay. It is weird how little posts there are here anymore.

Dancin, thanks for looking!
I hope everyone is doing okay. It is weird how little posts there are here anymore. I think it's a sign of the times and it's sad. The number of great MMs, especially at the drug chains, has decreased dramatically relative to how it used to be. I stopped rolling drug chain rewards when I could no longer do it for free (or really low OOP). Quite frankly, I am shocked I was able to do it for as long as I did. I'm getting some pretty decent deals on food items, but unfortunately not a whole lot that anyone can replicate.

I have been checking in now and then, but I am completely out of the drug stores and there are no deals that I have to post on food items, since I have started shopping mostly in the farmer's market

I just got my local grocery ads for sales starting today or Thur. got to say i anot terribly impressed AGAIN!!!
Do have a couple things I want at 2 fruit/veg markets but NOTHING at Aldi for me this week.
My fav fruit/veg market will post their ad overnight. Two independent stores do NOT send ads to my area so I have to go to see what is on sale there. I am going to 'try' to see them online.

I had two man. q's for the Bic disposables so I bought 2 at RA along with the BOGOF Snickers q. Had to get something else as the q is $3 and the razors are $2.99. Hate when that happens. Rec'd 2/$2 UPs in return. Also went to WAGS for the Cascadian Farms cereal: $1.99 ea and you receive 2,000 bonus rewards wyb4. I had 4/$1 q's so .99 each. Great price for those cereals. Also signed up for the bonus rewards program and linked it to my Walk w/Walgreens account. Now when I log my miles each day, I get 20 bonus points per mile. I walk everyday except Sundays so those BPs will add up. Never thought I'd be back at WAGS, but here I am. Must say the one good thing about the lack of deals: there's now stock on the shelves.

I have been checking in now and then, but I am completely out of the drug stores and there are no deals that I have to post on food items, since I have started shopping mostly in the farmer's market I think that probably 90% of the deals that we all were posting were at the drug chains. beachbum: It isn't just the Grocery Challenge that is slow. The national coupon messaging boards are a lot slower too and I really wonder how much longer they will be viable. WUC gets a lot of "new blood" everyday from people who are just discovering couponing, but the site's daily participation rate has been consistently dropping and now seems to be at a plateau. The guy who started the site, actually had to go out and get a "real job" recently. That says A LOT. He went on EC, I'm assuming in part to increase traffic on his site and it did, for a very short time. He appeared in Dec '10 or Jan '11 and peak participation on that site occurred in May '11 and has been dropping ever since. It's ironic that the thing that he thought would make his site "immortal" is the exact thing that is killing it.

I'm not doing any huge deals lately either. I did have $30 Ups expiring this week. I had the 2 $3/1 Bic Q's too so did that, plus the Almay deal and the Garnier deal, and bought an ink refill. Lost a bunch of Ups, but there really wasn't anything free or close to it. So, I'm happy I got an ink refill with no OOP. I think I still have $12 Ups.

So maybe, as a group, we just have to get back to basics and talk about how we're saving in spite of the coupon restrictions and the lack of great deals at the drug chains. Yesterday when I was doing my shopping, I shopped at three stores that do not even take manufacturer's coupons: Costco, The 99 Cent Store, and The Grocery Outlet. The savings at Costco were minimal, but the savings at The 99 Cent Store and The Grocery Outlet were pretty darn good; and every little bit saved, even if it doesn't come from coupon usage, adds up. I continue to hone my meal planning skills making sure that the perishable food that I do buy does not go to waste and continually attempt to add more variety and nutrition to what we eat. Doing that while keeping my grocery costs down in the face of rising prices is my personal "Grocery Challenge".

Safeway Shoppers GDA Alert:
Cracker Barrel Cheese 6-8 oz. Chunk or Bars $1.99 J4U Price LIMIR 4 - 1.00 3/17 $ .99 OOP ea.
Frigo String Cheese 24 oz. $5.49 J4U Price LIMIT 4 -1.00 IP (coupons.com / zip 08244) $4.49 OOP ea.
ICBINB 7.5 oz. $1.99 J4U Price LIMIT 3 - 1.00 Save $1 ONE TIME J4U Manufacturer's Coupon $ .99 OOP ea.
Question about the ICBINB: If you buy (3) will it take off $1 for each or just $1 for (1). The SAVE $1 coupon in the coupon center says "one-time", but does not show a limit.
Campbell's Skillet Sauces $1.50 J4U Price LIMIT 6 - 1.00 4/14 SS (reported to be coming out in Sunday's inserts) $ .50 OOP ea.
That's all I've found so far. If I see something else I'll post.
P.S. What is it with all the deals on cheese these days? I hope the Cracker Barrel has a long expiration date because I'm up to my eyeballs in cheese.

I had a very nice and surprising shopping trip at 2 different Walmarts today. Those stores that sell the smaller Almay makeup removers for $1.14 makes for some nice overage using the $5/2 Almay IPQs. I got 6 from each store and ended up getting these items: 1 broccoli crown 1 green pepper 1 4 lb. bag oranges 1 sour cream 1 lb. bag Diamond walnuts 1 jug vinegar 1 bottle cider vinegar 1 jar parsley 1 jar chili powder
Total OOP: $.58 (I price matched the broccoli, oranges and sour cream)
Yesterday, I got a gallon of milk, 1 sweet onion, 2 1/3 lb. bananas and 8 D. Hines flavor packs by price matching and getting overage from the D. Hines MQ's.
Total OOP: $2.40
On Sunday I bought a head of lettuce, 1 head cauliflower, 1 broccoli crown, 1 red pepper, and 2 bags baby carrots, price matching everything.
Total OOP: $3.74
Weekly OOP: $6.72 and I used $39.00 in coupons
We go through a lot of produce and that is the challenge for me in keeping my grocery budget in line. I was really excited about getting the bag of walnuts as they were $7.48 a bag.

Thruthfully I have over $180 in rewards from Staples, split among 4 checks, and I can't get excited enough with their deals to go over and buy anything with the rewards. They mostly don't expire until at least 7/31. About the only thing I actually need is ink for my printer. I think I might actually pay OOP for the ink so I can keep getting my $2 each for the empties. I will have six months I can recycle empties without worrying about it. At that point I might just use all my rewards to get a new laptop or desktop and just get out of the Staples game for a while. It probably helps that I have so much copy paper I was thinking of using it as fuel for in fireplace next winter to help heat the house.

I've been doing a lot more grocery shopping at Price Rite. They are a discount grocery store, similar to Aldi, but bigger, nicer, and they carry about 50% name brand products and 50% store brand. They do not take coupons, but a lot of their prices are great. I try to get there at least every other week, tend to pick up the same things, and usually spend $15-20. Their produce quality is way better than Aldi and prices are usually just as good. Some items I can still do better using coupons elsewhere, but for staples and certain other items, it's worth the trip.

Question about the ICBINB:If you buy (3) will it take off $1 for each or just $1 for (1). The SAVE $1 coupon in the coupon center says "one-time", but does not show a limit. Dancin- Thanks for the heads up on the cheese. I need to stockpile a lot -- have been paying full price lately! The coupon will take $1 off EACH tub, but, as you noticed, you have to buy them all at the same time. At least it does at my Safeway (which is a Dominicks store). Some coupons do show a limit, and also are "one-time". I only cherry pick there, but get phenomenal deals since they started the online coupons. Everything stacks. Frequently I pay even less than I think I will there. I recently bought frozen Jack's pizzas that were on deal-match from Jewel (Albertsons), and then there were coupons for on J4U, making a good deal. Turns out there was ALSO a "10% off frozen food" coupon that took off even more.

Okay, I have never used one of the "SAVE $X.XX" coupons before, so I didn't know if I could use more than one. The only thing that I don't like about the whole J4U thing is that there are so many items in the coupon center, it takes me a while to scroll through them all to find what I'm looking for. Sometimes it's just a pain, but sometimes the stacking is really good so it makes it worth it. Another thing that I don't like are the limits or "one time" offers. If you want to stockpile on a one-time offer and they don't have much in stock you're kind of screwed because there are no rain checks for J4U items. Yes, you can always go back, but that is more time and gas that I don't want to spend.

There was a 1$ off eQ also a couple of weeks ago for the Cracker barrel cheese. I don't have any paper Qs, so I used the 1$ off eQ to get it for 99c. BTW, I filter the coupons by selecting the category on the left hand side and selectively go through just some sections.

Freesalsa,
You may have already done this, but Sprouts has a deal until today on the Glen Muir organic canned tomatoes 1.5 each and they have 3$ off any 5 glen muir products right next to the display. The Q is valid until 4/17, but the sale price is not. Hopefully they will have a sale before the coupon expires.

found out yesterday that the 2 independent store's ads are a PITA to load/read online. Takes WAAAY too much time. Since I NEED to hit PetsMart this week it is just as easy to hit the stores. Finally, one of my local fruit/veg markets has romaine at a decent price.

Hopefully it would be something that would not be expensive to ship but would get a good price.

Hopefully it would be something that would not be expensive to ship but would get a good price. Yeah I have thought about selling stuff on ebay or amazon. Most of the things I get there are free but way too heavy to sell once the shipping would get factored in. I may look at prices of programs or ink and just burn them that way. It just seems like a lot of work when I have been able to buy 100% free after rebates items with my rewards and even if I throw them in the trash get my money back. I really am lazy! I went to CVS today to pick up a Rx. I wandered around and saw some CVS brand tums that was on clearance. It said $3.47 on the shelf which was 50% and DH needed some so I picked up two bottles of it. I got to the car and realized they had rung up as $1.07 so I went back in and bought the rest of them. They have a exp date of Dec 2015 so I know DH will use them before they expire and the way he goes through them I was thrilled! I ended up getting nine of the bottles of CVS Tums and a bag of robins eggs for $4.12 after ECB's. Those antacids are expensive and something we needed. I'm fine with using up all my ECB's and just jumping back in if something great pops up.

Hi everyone. Just a quick drive by post. I've been extremely busy with work - and shopping of course Not sure if it's been posted, but WAGS has a MM Neosporin/Band-aid deal this week (thanks Wild4Wags). I haven't been to WAGS in months (since they started this rewards programme), but this deal was too good to pass up. Buy 2 Band aid/Neosporin, get 3000 rewards points 2 x Neosporin @ $3.99 ea = $7.98 2 x Band aid @ $2.99 ea = $5.98 Less 2 x $3/1 Neosporin Qs (I found these on the Neosporin site) (6.00) Less $1/2 Band aid IP (1.00) OOP = $6.96 get 6000 reward points & submit for $5 rebate + free first aid bag $4.04 MM after rewards & rebateHappy shopping everyone!

Hi all; I worked on my Just4u list on Mon after work, but had no printer, so just scribbled my list. Late that night I looked at my receipt and realized I didn't get the deal I was supposed to on ice cream. Plus they were out of the deal match bacon on Monday. They matched another store's $2.49 for Farmer John 16 oz. So, since they are now right on my new short commute, I stopped again and went to the desk. He was so apologetic - uh, ma'am did you see it said pints, not the big one? MY BAD! Of course, I had to get the last word in, so I asked if they re-stocked the FJ bacon (regular price - sit down first - $8.99). That cooler is right next to the courtesy window, so I glanced over (still empty) and said, you know, it's not much of a deal match if you have no stock, and he very nicely offered to give me Safeway brand for the $2.49 price. Happy dance! Aloha!

hitenney I have had TONS of trouble nearly constantly w/the j4u deals and they cannot fix it at the register, even IF you have a print out. You MUST go wait in line at customer service and then the gal gets on the phone & then they 'might' be able to fix it. I am at the point where if it does NOT ring up correctly at the register the first time I leave the entire order. that is the advantage of having a stockpile and VERY rarely NEEDING an item.
I should really know better. did the Kelloggs Nutty Crunch deal at CVS Thur - on sale $2, less $1 coupon. Ate some this am. Do NOT care for it even as a snack item. Too sweet & bland for my taste and NOT crunchy-sugar frosted cherrios.
Did my major shop Thur, just need a few things at the local markets & my BIG fruit/veg mkt.

E-mailed the folks at Method products. They sent me two $1/1 Qs. Target also has $1/1 Qs. Hoping to get the pump soap priced at $2.66. Does Target allow you to use a MQ and a Target Q? TIA

Hi Pubbler, do you see anything good at Meijers next week? I don't think I'll be spending too much money or time there. The only thing I see is my coffee is on sale. I will be needing saltine crackers soon, but I'm not buying 5 boxes.
