Phoenix,
Your mood. Does a color make you feel excited, or calm? Cheerful, welcoming and a place to hang out?

My bedroom is a pale blue (Dew Pointe by Fresh Aire). Blue makes me feel calm and peaceful. Most of our sheets are dark blue. Our winter comforter is navy in one side and tan on the other. Our summer quilt is white and blue.
I suggest picking your comforter or artwork first. You can always have paint made to match any color you want.

I think I'm going to go with a light or medium gray. Then, anything but brown will match it. And maybe I can last 20 years without painting again, even if I go through 5 duvets.

I love Revere Pewter!! If we ever build again or move that's probably what I'd want to get. It would be stunning with Mahogany furniture. Bonny!

Our walls are white (we rent and can't paint), the spread is Williamsburg Blue with light yellow accents. Furniture is dark cherry.
I love it. It feels so restful and serene.

All bedroom walls are eggshell with white trim.
My master bedroom is themed Old Hollywood. It's purple and silver. The bed is ivory, so it blends in with the walls. I have two comforters, eggplant and silver. My nightstands and chests are mirrored furniture. I do have a black storage ottoman in front of the window. I have two sets of purple sheets, jersey for the winter and Egyptian cotton for the summer.
My guest bedroom has cherry bookcases and dresser. The headboard is bronze. The duvet cover is sage. The sheets are sage.

My bedroom is painted pale peach and the comforter and accents are burgundy/cranberry.
I prefer warmer colours up here in the Great White North.

My sister did her dining room and living room in a very expensive, chi-chi Calvin Klein shade of green, but to me it looks like every institutional school cafeteria and hospital corridor of the 60s.

Our kitchen is sage green (ish) and I love the color there. Our current bedding is green, too. I found out after we had painted the kitchen that green isn't a good color to have in the kitchen (according to HGTV.) And then my husband lost 50 pounds. Do you think there is a connection? I painted my kitchen/family room Behr Grape Leaves about a year ago and haven't lost any weight. ^ not my house. Mine is more Mediterranean/earthy than contemporary but you get the point. Love green walls like that! We rent, so our walls are kind of eggshell. Not white, but they have yellow undertones. Our comforter and covetlet are green. Our current sheets are gray and covetley our back up set is brown. The duvet cover we are hoping to get (registry) is light gray and white, and the sheets and coverlet are white. We upgraded bed size last year and are still using the free basic frame. I intend on getting a black or dark colored bed frame soon.

Our bedroom walls are this: and an accent wall of this: DH picked out the colors and I love them! We have dark wood furniture and I use green accents around the room (plants, a couple of green pillows and a green throw).

those were my sister's wedding colors, beer. the flower girl's dress was the bottom lavender and mine was a sage green. actually, if any of you use the Ivy color scheme like I do, it's the dark green of the reply button.

I pulled one of those little sheets with 6 different colors of gray on it, and brought it home. Last night I asked my husband if he had any opinions or feeling about the paint color, and he responded "No." I'm sure it is very nice of him to trust me so much. This morning, I asked him "Lighter or darker." He said "Give me the paint chips and I will pretend to have an opinion." I love him! Anyway ArchietheDragon - he picked the darkest gray there was. Nearly black. I was looking at the gray that was second from the top - nearly white. I said "Don't you think that would make our room look like a cave. He pretended he was joking. LOL.

My walls are called "summer green" but with the light and everything else in the room it has more of a blue cast so the feeling is very tropical and soothing. ( I only put 1 coat of paint on the walls and the old main color - a nasty bone white peeks through and with the sunlight coming in the window it looks like the sun is sparkling on water.) It goes really well with the brown carpet that I had installed which looks like wet sand.
My bedding changes by my mood - I have several dovet covers and sheet sets which work. My bed is a dark cherry sleigh with dark nightstands.
I really prefer this color scheme compared to the old one.
(The old scheme had a deep mustard yellow wall that the bed was against and it completely changed the tone of the room - nice color but it just felt too dark.)
I enjoyed the color so much I used it in the spare room and it really looks like a summer green in that room. Peaceful.

Our hallway is red. And we have a DR/LR combo room we painted pewter. We did the ceilings and the walls and did the trim and crown moulding white. It looks something like this (only pewter! ) ETA: DH does all of our paint selections, but the ceiling/trim idea was mine.

I have to tell you that this room is small and dark. I like that it is small and dark. We sleep in there. I don't need it to be anything special. And I don't need a "master retreat." We don't hide in there, or anything. I'm afraid too many dark colors will just make it horribly small. We painted the office red and I don't like it very much. The office has a lot more light (no window coverings) and I still think that dark paint just soaks up the energy of the room.

So if it is small red might be bad for the whole room?
Maybe a red accent wall?
