The wall behind the bed is claret red. Other walls are cream-colored. Furniture is black lacquer, except for the antique rosewood wing chair and table in the sitting area. It has an Oriental feel, as the headboard of the bed is a large, antique, folding Chinese screen. I like it because it fits me, and it's a place to put some of the things we brought back from our years in the Far East. I doubt it would be right for everyone, but it was right for hubs and I, and it still suits me.

My bedroom was one of the few rooms I did not paint when I moved in. It was an "okay" color, at least neutral and something I could live with. I planned on painting it, but I moved in 5 years ago and still haven't. It's a medium brownish/tan color. For years I was on the quest for the "perfect purple" that I was seeing all over decorating shows, like a medium, dusty purple with grey tones. It does not exist...I have a big purple square painted in the middle of one wall. It looks like the grape ape exploded. Everything I've bought is either too grape or too pastel, so, I totally gave up... I spend ZERO time in my bedroom other than to sleep, so, really could give two shits what "feeling" it convey's. Nobody sees it except me...who cares...

that sounds pretty, mmhmm. thyme, my bedroom is painted "Newport Blue" from Behr. all wood furniture is a light oak, my curtains and all bedding are basic white. woodwork is white. the carpet is a neutral "caramel" which is a few shades of tan all in a plush carpet. I feel peace and calm when I walk in, and I would absolutely recommend this color to someone that would appreciate it.

Thyme,
I take my cue from the outside, hence the 'Palo Verde" green. I also have the sun yellow in the kitchen a red clay earth and of course like everyone who first moves to the desert, I had to have the turquoise sky wall in the guest room and bath. But no kokopellis!

My bedroom sounds a lot like chiver's. Calming appeals to me where I sleep. Tennesseer can decorate my living room.
I heard a good piece of advice from a friend recently - decorate in the colors that look good on you. If you have a lot of something in your wardrobe, it probably flatters your skin tone. Paint should do the same thing. (Personally, I'll take any flattering edge I can get in the bedroom)

Well at least it isn't "Mongoloid". LOL. My grandmother always talked about people with Downs Syndrome as Mongoloids. Made me a little uncomfortable. Yea. What an awful word to use. We have come a long way though some of the still uninformed still use the term. My dad was in his late 70s when he and mom came for a visit. We were discussing the bird feeders in my backyard. I made mention how the black birds were causing a problem at the feeders. For some reason, my dad didn't hear me say "the feeders". He responded "You have problems with the colored people here too?" I laughed and explained to him I really meant birds.

The walls are cream. The cabinets, closets, trim (floor boards and crown molding) and built-in shelves/window seat are white (just enough of a difference to see it, but subtle). The platform bed, antique Chinese sideboard that functions as a headboard and the dresser are dark mahogany with hints of dark red undertones. The area rug (over hardwood floors) is mostly blues with touches of sages, creams/tans/stone and dark red. The bed linens and duvet covers are white, the pillow shams are blue with cream and stone accents, and the blankets and throws are blue and stone. The window seat pad is blue and the throw pillows are blues, creams and stone. Very soothing and minimalist - just like we wanted .

I have sage green in my kitchen - I love it. I just had to get past the terrible memories of olive reen from the 70s.
Bedroom walls are yellow and we have a pastel comforter. It has been that way for over 10 years, and now watching HGTV I realize it is so 2000ish. It is time for a change.
My suggestion is to pick out a comforter that you like, then pick paint walls. It is easier to pick out paint colors.

White comforters seems like a magnet for dirt. Especially with 3 cats. Granted, one cat is white.

I'm down to 2 adults and right now a second set of foster kittens. None of them soil the bed. But if they did, that's why the comforter has a washable duvet cover - white cotton sateen or white cotton flannel are excellent for covers. JMHO - YMMV.

My cats are indoor/outdoor. It isn't like I'm getting a brown comforter so they can poop there. It is just the dirty paws. They go out into the dust, and then come in and get on the bed. My old cat used to roll in the dust and then come inside and clean himself on our bed. He would leave a little pig-pen style dust ball.

They always stay nice and clean.

LOL - me too. Also, my old cat used to barf on the bed, a lot. My current set barf elsewhere (thank you!) And if there is a multi-colored pattern, even if there was a small stain, I could pretend. With the white, you can only turn in over once.

Well Thyme - this may be moot because you many NOT want white, but if you do: Buy a down comforter and get a separate duvet cover - one that can be stripped off and washed. You can also get different colors for different seasons or moods. No turning it over, you pull it off and wash it (no covers that need drycleaning!!!). Or keep your existing comforter and start your duvet/cover collection for it Cotton sateen and cotton flanned (100% cotton) wash the easiest. They can also be bleached if necessary.

I have a duvet and cover now. I don't want multiple covers - that would mean I would have to find space to store them. I am a gal who has one set of bedding, and I use it until it dies, and then I get a new set. If there is barf, I wash it and put it back on the bed. We do have a set of extra sheets and a blanket - in case we have a middle of the night issue. So, our linen closet is basically full. I'm too lazy to have moods and seasons. I just have the one thing.

You are so wrong about there always being a paint color. I bet I took 50 paint samples to the store that day along with a sham. We had to see it in natural light, artificial light, and so on. Maybe you think that confirms your theory, but that's way too much work.
My ex-MIL's house and shop are showplaces, and my DIL has a degree in Interior Design. I did NOT want to mess the color up.

They can mix the color to be whatever you want. So, yes there are an infinite number of colors. That just isn't true with bedding. Buying paint is very difficult because they can mix whatever you want. But, there simply isn't a color that you can't get made for paint.

Our master bedroom, master bathroom, and guest bedroom all have buttercream walls. Calm, cheery, peaceful. The enclosed patio off our master bedroom sliding glass door is bright turquoise.

I need to paint my bedroom, and I happen to need a new Duvet cover - so let's make this one big bedroom update extravaganza. What color is your bedroom? What feeling does it convey when you walk in? Why do you like it / not like it? Would you suggest the color to someone like me? Hot Pink with bright yellow accents to go with your eyes. Our walls are a beigy/taupe color that we find very calming and bright and airy. I love the sage green colors too. We have that in our drapes (I think it's called lechen?) but it looks like sage green to me. We just updated our comforter to have more green in it with ivory and beige in the throw pillows. We get our bright colors from our patio cushions and reds and hot pink flowers that are seen from all the windows we have. We like neutral wall colors because we change colors in other things and we hate repainting. Chocolate and creams or greens/taupes with whites/ivory and splashes of reds look great with the color. It's similar to this:

Sage green relaxing I don't know why I like it, I just do. DH picked it out, I thought I'd hate it. I was wrong. yes Our kitchen is sage green (ish) and I love the color there. Our current bedding is green, too. I found out after we had painted the kitchen that green isn't a good color to have in the kitchen (according to HGTV.) And then my husband lost 50 pounds. Do you think there is a connection? I painted my kitchen/family room Behr Grape Leaves about a year ago and haven't lost any weight. ^ not my house. Mine is more Mediterranean/earthy than contemporary but you get the point.

My bedroom walls are white, my bed spread is tan and brown with some type of pattern (leaves I think?) on it. never looked at it that closely. My sheets are kind of a carmel color.
I'm not sure what you mean by "feeling" something when you walk in. I go into my bedroom to sleep. My mom bought me the bedspread for my birthday and my sister got the sheets for Christmas.
