Cabotine, by Parfums Gres.
Everywhere I go, people say "Oh, you smell so good! What IS that?"
Are you ready for Thanksgiving?

Wonderful Tess ......... you are doing great. Take things one day at a time and remember to breathe. Remember this season is a holi-DAY, not a holi-MONTH ........... Take one spoonful of anything you want. If you want seconds, again with ONE spoonful. Drinking hot water works wonders .............. YEA for you
What is your predicted weather for Thanksgiving Day? Ours is rain .... and we are supposed to walk in a parade here in town.

Snowstorm is coming in and expected to last all week. Fine with me-an excuse not to drive an hour to mom's. Have you tried grocery delivery/pick-up yet? I tried the pick-up earlier this month and find it to be convenient.

I did a pick-up once, because it was free and there were coupons you could only use if you did pick-up. I didn't order anything fresh where I would compare the quality, and there was one substitution I said would be ok (Ken's ranch for another type of Ken's ranch). So it worked out and did save a lot of time! However, I don't have the "need" for convenience anymore (no little kids, no long commute, no good excuses) to justify the price when it isn't free, so I may only use it a couple more times (we either get 3 or 5 free pick-ups).
Today it is spitting a mix of snow and rain at home, and snowed yesterday at my property (phone shows it's not currently snowing up there, but who knows). Tomorrow should be dry, cloudy, and cold.
What is your favorite thing to do on a chilly day? (or just on a blah-weather day if you live where it doesn't get cold).

Hot home-made chicken soup. Snuggled in a blanket, Hunter kitty on lap ......... and watching a good chick-flick. If we had a fireplace, I would cuddle in front of that also .......... <sigh> but we don't have one of those.
What do you hate about getting older? I think my pet peeve right now is everyone trying to help me do things I can do on my own ..................

The thing that I hate most is I am practically blind driving at nigh now.
Any Christmas traditions that you are planning on skipping this year just because?

No family Christmas brunch this year. I will have a nice brunch but only two members of the family will be here; total of four people! That's down from seven last year and for many years before. The reason why? Kids have moved out (but they did invite DH and I over for Christmas dinner). So, some of my traditions are falling by the wayside, but my kids are starting their own traditions! So grateful to be a part of their new traditions 😊🎄
Any huge plans for 2020? God willing I'm retiring Dec. 31, 2020!

What I hate most is having to ask people to do things for me. Yes, I'm capable with most things, but I'm short....and have no business being on a 6' ladder to change smoke detector batteries....and that is only the beginning.
PS on edit: I'm too old to have plans 12 months in advance.

I can use “old age” as excuse for anything I say or do short of murder. Have you ever been skinny dipping? See what I mean about using old age

I have been skinny dipping!😉 My kids would be horrified to know. DH and my mother were!
I had a nice quiet christmas with just DD1 and her DH, my DH, and my 80+ year old mother.
I try to do one new thing each month and a big new thing every 6 months. What new thing would you like to try in January?

I'm not sure it counts, but I'm going to try actually celebrating my birthday in January. It's usually just another day, and the most I've ever done is have homemade cake with my parents (or taken my son for ice cream). I did go to a bar with my manager and her son when I turned 21, but it was more about being able to go to a bar for the first time (didn't get drunk since I had too many responsibilities at home). So this year, I got a double room at a McMenamins that includes dinner and breakfast for two, and will be taking my son with me. I still won't get drunk, but it will be the first time I've done something like this for my birthday.
I like this question, so what new thing are you going to try next year? (just in case you don't have anything planned for January...)

I'm going to try out a new location next year. my house is on the market, and I'm figuring out a long distance relationship. when the house sells, I'll move to an apartment while I figure out whether the new location is going to be still here in MA, or out in AZ.
are you heading out for NYE festivities tonight, or staying in?

I stayed in for NYD. My new thing this month was a biggie- I bought DH a new truck. First new vehicle for him in 27 years. 27 year old truck ran fine but he wanted a new one finally. For myself, my new thing will be a new bike to fine. Nice and easy but about 6 miles, I hope. What new thing will you do this month?

Just a couple of weeks ago. She was 5 weeks old and the daughter of a co-worker. Babies always have a fresh clean smell, except don't get too close to the bottom of the problem .......... lol
What did you get for your g-babies for Christmas? ......... We got our g-babies subscriptions to Highlights For Children.

Ok, back to the regularly scheduled program since I can't answer that - no g-babies!!

No g-babies here! However, three grand nieces made their way into the fam in 2019. Christmas 2020 the three of them will be close to one yr old. What's a good gift? I'd love to get this out of the way! No clothes!! All three have clothes horse/mother divas! These three get dressed 2 to 3 times a day. I'm committed to buying them a book every Christmas but what else should I buy? Can we keep it under $30 per child? And they all get the same gift 🎁.
How cold is it where you are?

Do they celebrate Mardi Gras where you live?

Central Jersey here. Not really; except for maybe sorority/frat parties on the college campuses. Otherwise you just see a whole lot of people walking around with ashes on their forehead.
Are you doing anything or are you giving up anything for Lent?

Lent?
We had choir practice for about a half hour before Ash Wednesday observance, and we didn't stay for it. I worked that day and was very tired so we went home. I had thought about giving up chocolate for Lent this year but I didn't. I did about 10 years ago because I had a bad chocolate habit that needed to be broken. I was successful and broke the habit. But I've noticed lately that it's creeping back into my life.
Biblically 40 seems to be the 'magic' number for change. Moses lead the people in circles for 40 years to let the older generations die and the young, strong, free people into their promised land. Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness before His death. 40 days can break any habit.
Are you planting any veggies for personal use this year? A month ago we bought a couple of tomato plants from Costco and they are loaded. Water them every couple of days, and use a q-tip for cross pollination.

I spent last Saturday at son's house. It was planting time. I planted tomatoes, red/yellow peppers, zucchini/yellow squash, eggplant, beans, cukes and other stuff. I benefit the most since I am the veggie eater in the family. Oh and tons of all kinds of hot peppers but that's for son and DIL Love digging in the dirt

Butterfly exhibit yes. Seems it was someplace in Florida (many years ago) where they had water ski people doing all sorts of tricks....have no idea what the name of the place was. Certainly not there now.
Just looked it up: Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven Florida.

Nope, I had to google what one is. Never even hear of them. What skill are you trying to learn (besides liver capacity increase) during Covid-19?

I binged "How to Get Away with Murder". Didn't realize it was on the last season when I started, so I binged it all then only had to wait a few weeks to finish the series.
Also on an "80s Twilight Zone" series binge. I've been staying in a fifth wheel on my property more (just got it in March, right before the madness hit) and it's a good way to spend my time when transitioning from night shift to days, since I'm worthless for the first day or two anyway.
Have you tried anything new the last few months?

Do new clothes count? I went shopping and picked up 4 blouses and 6 pair of leggings.
I'm exhausted. How you doin'?
