Rumor has it we in the Pacific NorthWet might get a bit of snow by the morning. I wouldn't mind a little bit - just enough to put us two hours late for school. Noooooooo!!! I am going to Seattle on Sunday to spend Xmas with DS2 and his wife. DS1 and his wife will fly in from S'pore and I do not want to see snow while there . At the kids insistence we'll all be staying in their tiny 800 or so sq ft home - no hotels allowed - and I can just imagine the cabin fever that would result. In the meantime I am going to see my babies for a week Joss, Don't panic. It's barely a dusting, but several schools are closed. Most likely, it will have melted by this evening. I'll keep you posted.

I have a snow day today but I have TONS of cleaning to do because on Christmas Eve I'll have the extended family over again this year. I know of three who won't be coming so I think we'll be down to 22. Uff da!
Deep clean big bathroom
Deep clean small bathroom
Wrap gifts - esp DH's
Clean out fridge Clean off pool table Cover dog kennel
Take dog for walk
Go to post office (Hayley gift, Norway cards, watch return) Deep clean entry way
E-mail mom
Renewed Prescription
OK, that's my goal for the daylight hours of today. Hopefully tonight I'll be able to make another list that DH and I can tackle together.
ETA: I got 3-4 things done on Friday and DH and I have worked on a few more today. I think we're doing OK so far.

Minor victory, I had too much coffee yesterday and now the table in my kitchen at the office is clean again. I have lots to recycle, a few books to give away and a few new coupons! (I sit there and go through coupons at lunch and it get mountainous after a while) I'm leaving to get lunch so I'll take recycle out with me then. I may need to have too much coffee at home this weekend

Had a pretty productive morning thus far! My chiropractor gave me a free adjustment so my back and shoulders are in alignment again! Then to Costco and the grocery store for a few things like dog food and veggies. I don't have calls for a few more hours so I think it'll be a good time to clear off my desk and tackle the pile o' papers on the floor. I'm thinking it's time to brew a pot of coffee, put on some Christmas music and set up the scanner...
Edit: The scanner is set up (nothing's been scanned yet though) and I'm working my way through the stack. So many papers. I'm going to work until at least 5:30 and then move into the living room to clean. I can't WAIT to get all these clothes dropped off at consignment tomorrow and there's a nice big box ready for Goodwill too. Counting the items because while I'll be nowhere near 2,013 things at least I'll have fewer to tackle in 2014!

Hi Kids! Another busy day here.
DD got scheduled to work breakfast rush, so I dropped her off, then ran to get some fresh baked goods for some school staff members that DS works with a lot. After that, I went & did some grocery shopping & dropped off clean laundry to Mom.
DD got off work just before I had to pick up DS from school. Then, he had therapy tonight. Now I'm paying bills, & filing some of my shitepile of papers.

Rukh, I just started shopping TODAY, so you are WAY ahead of me!
DS1 requested something that I found a fantastic price on ... 45 min away. It was too late to go today. So I went to the local mall and got DS2's gift. I will get up early tomorrow to get DS1's gift.
DD has already had half her Xmas gift (she is in Amsterdam for the weekend with her girlfriends and we paid for her ticket) and I will get her a few items of clothing for the other half (things she can exchange / return from a shop she likes).
DS3 wants a new watch (his broke over the summer.) They are out of the one he wants at both local malls, but they have it at the flagship store near DH's office in Paris. So I reserved it over the phone, and DH and/or I will pick it up on Monday. For the other half, DS3 will choose some clothes at the same store I will shop at for DD.
DS2 called me crazy excited with a crazy idea for DH ... it is expensive but we are all splitting it (I'm paying half, the 4 kids are splitting the other half). I probably shouldn't have said yes but DS2 was so crazy excited, and I was happy at not having to find something for DH myself.
I also want a gift for DS1's girlfriend, and maybe something for DS2's girlfriend too, not sure yet. DS1 and his GF have lived together for several years, and she will probably be visiting from the UK, after Xmas, like she does every year. DS2 and his GF have been on-again, off-again for several years, so it doesn't seem the same to me. Or else if the timing works out, I'll get tix to something. That's what I prefer to do but it may be too late now.
My in-laws sent me their quarterly contribution to DD's tuition today, so I am feeling less stressed about money. This said I know we tend to go overboard, because we really ONLY buy the older kids Xmas and birthday gifts, and the younger kids Xmas and birthday gifts and some clothing.
ETA: I've decided to get DS1's gift at Ikea ... it's closer, and a much more reasonable price.

Yay Joss for big babies lol! Have a wonderful time! xo Yes, and my next visit will be a few weeks after that to go see the little baby --- provided the little guy doesn't take after his father who was 19 days late Debt, with the GF present thing for my sons I always bought for both of their GFs. From my perspective it was more about my sons than about the GFs and I didn't either one to think that I took his brother's relationship more seriously than their own, even if I did. Ultimately we can't know who our kids will chose as their partner and I like to play it safe for the things that I consider really important - like DSs happiness. YMO

Joss I think that is excellent advice and I will heed it! This said, I'm always more about "experiences" than "things"... two years ago I got all of us tix to the Cirque de Soleil, and it was fabulous to all go out together, all eight of us! So if I can find an "outing" we can all attend, I'd probably opt for that. But if I can't, I will definitely get both GFs a "thing" instead. (And it will be received as it will be received ... we truly do like both girls very much, but one is a humanitarian aid worker who doesn't like Stuff, and the other is a very stylish and posh future Parisian lawyer or judge ... they don't exactly have the same taste LOL) Another reason why an "outing" is my preferred choice. But you raise a VERY good point, and I will definitely buy for both girlfriends. In fact, after your post, I'm thinking I would prefer to buy the same thing for both, even if I end up buying a "thing" rather than "an experience". THANK YOU Joss!

I got 99% of my wrapping done today. Just need to do a quick check to make sure I'm not missing anything. Then tomorrow I can probably put wrapping stuff away. Haven't really done any cleaning or decluttering. Maybe tomorrow...

I got most of my errands done, still need to take in consignment for the household items and books to the library but that will need to wait until Monday. I had 15 things accepted at consignment (they're super picky about clothes) and a few items I can bring back in the spring/summer. Then I dropped off 43 items at Goodwill, returned library books, donated magazines and Christmas decorations and picked up coffee. Oh! and I had a scarf holder from Ikea that consignment didn't want and this woman waiting to trade in her stuff gave me $5 for it! I started staining the boards this morning but my brush was pretty beat up (small cheap craft brushes) so I picked up a bunch at Michael's while I was out. And I got the screws I need for my wood project so I can soon begin assembling that project! The family Christmas gifts got wrapped today so I can take those to family next week. I almost forgot that Thursday is my mom's 60th bday too so I need to do something big for that. Now I'm heading outside to do the yardwork!

Well, DD got offered another shift at work, which she took. She's really trying hard to save money for school. At least she's done Christmas shopping.
I went to the grocery store this morning, & baked pies this afternoon. They're cool & in my freezer now.
I'm going to try to be totally caught up on laundry before bedtime. Also, we're clearing out part of DS's bedroom to put in our Christmas tree. We have to put the tree where the dog can't get to it.
I might make a batch of cookies just for the kids to snack on, so they'll leave the Christmas cookies alone.

I was halfway done putting away the umbrella (meaning it was hanging out in the front yard) and I decided to keep it out for awhile longer! I'm going to run more Christmas lights from my front yard tree to the umbrella to make the front yard more sparkly. I'm still working on staining the wood out in the front yard so once that is done I'll have room to work on my side tables next.

I'm back from Ikea ... I decided to get DS1's gift there instead. It was closer, and more reasonably priced. (He wants a queen-sized down quilt).
So DS1's gift is done, and DS2's gift is done. DD's is half done.
Off to another mall to hopefully finish the rest (clothes for DD, clothes and a watch for DS3).
Then I can go into Paris with DH tomorrow and just "wander" and pick up a few stocking fillers.
ETA: Back from the mall. OMG I hate shopping! Got a LBD for DD, so she is 3/4 done. Got shoes and a shirt for DS3, so he is 1/2 done (the other half is his watch, to be picked up tomorrow.) I'd like one more item of clothing for DD but I'm sure I'll find that tomorrow in town.
One of my best friends just called asking if I wanted to go to the mall with her ... I said no lol.

I did laundry yesterday. And more laundry. And baked sugar cutout cookies with my kids (you won't believe my kitchen...) did more laundry, baked a batch of choc. chip cookies, did more laundry, made dinner, scrubbed 2 horribly disgusting sinks and changed bedding on 2 beds. Did I mention I did laundry? I don't know where it all came from.

Keep breathing ladies!!! Power through! POWER THROUGH!!!! It's going to be a great holiday - if we can make it to the big day!!!! I'm at work today. I should be done fairly soon. But I think I'm going to go home and make snowmen with my kids. They've been desperately waiting for packing snow... Although it is coming down fairly hard right now.

Debt- I wish I was "wandering the streets of Paris" I'm just working on little stuff here and there, some laundry, some dishes, some general "picking up". I hauled a bunch of empty shipping boxes to the basement. Some can eventually be broken down for recycling but that can happen whenever. Got my wrapping stuff packed back up (mostly) and back in the spare bedroom. That room is an absolute wreck, but I needed it out of my living space. I am going to bake a small batch of cookies today and a batch of fudge. I don't really do anything for Christmas so no huge rush to get stuff done here. My family does a small get together here the weekend after Christmas. Today, I would at least like to get the kitchen island cleared off, and some more random crap picked up and put away. My bedroom needs some work too.

Constanz after so long it doesn't really feel special anymore. At the last minute I decided to meet my friend. As soon as I get there, she starts getting hot flashes and leaves lol! I did get the presents for the two girlfriends: a fleece bathrobe (that's what DS1 requested), same bathrobe for both girls, two different colors. (DS1's dates are still up in the air, as are his GF's, so I decided I couldn't really get tickets to anything.) I am SHOPPED OUT and eagerly waiting for wine o'clock! I just need one more article of clothing for DD, and a little something for my friend's young son (close family friends).

I unearthed about half of the island. Got another load of laundry in. Went through a bunch of stuff I'd ordered online (mostly clothes) and have a whole bunch to return. Which is good, I guess, except I am not going anywhere near the stores before Christmas and will also be a zoo with returns after. Guess I'll just throw them in my car so when I get near the stores they have to go back to, they'll be there. Took more empty boxes down to basement. Hung up all of my coats. I tend to throw them on the banister. I pulled out some Christmas gift bags and tags to take to BFF tomorrow. I have a ton from all the Christmas clearance sales. It'll take me years to use them all. I'm trying to think of a "purpose" for a little side table in my room. It's right inside the bedroom door, about 3 ft long and 18" deep. It just ends up piled with crap. Any ideas? I thought about maybe moving my jewelry box and holders there. Right now they are on top of a taller dresser, which isn't always convenient to find what I'm looking for.

yay! have someone coming over this afternoon for the DVD towers. I'm hoping it's stress free and they just give me the cash and take 'em! It'll be nice to have room in my garage. Update! They are sold, got the cash and so happy to have them out of my garage 3 more things gone! I have the tubs of Christmas decorations all stacked up so I'm slowly reclaiming my living room (just in time to bring them inside and re-pack all the Christmas stuff, right?). Continuing to stain the wood boards outside, I should be finished by the end of the day! It would be great to finish this project before the holiday.

THE DISPLAY CABINETS ARE FINALLY GONE!!!!!!
They got them out of my garage this morning and I am doing a bit of a happy dance. So relieved to finally have them out of the garage.
I am hoping to pull together a handful of items to drop off at Goodwill today too. The guys didn't want the two chairs I had in my garage so I'm planning on including them in the goodwill drop off today.

yay Sheila! That should count as 12 items... one for every week it took to get those out of there!
I'm making a foil packet salmon thing for lunch that I miraculously had all the ingredients for! Honey-soy-lime glaze topped with garlic, green onions, crushed red peppers and green beans.

Debt - It's wine o'clock at my house right now!
Sheila - Woohoo!
Smart - You always have the best sounding meal ideas!
Constanzz - Do you think you shop more than you purge? It seems like you've mentioned picking up a few things from clearance sales, or yard sales quite often.
DH and I did a good job getting the large rec room area ready for company in a few days. Tomorrow's big clean will probably be deep cleaning the kitchen. It seems to be the place the family hangs out each year. (It's a pass-thru style so it gets a lot of action.)

Norway - it's all due to Pinterest! I was just happy that I didn't have to buy something to make this recipe and it turned out really, really good! I'm trying to clean out the fridge before Christmas arrives. I'm going to fill up my garbage cans and clear out the fridge before the new year too. I hung up more Christmas lights on the umbrella and gate outside and it looks so cheerful By tomorrow the last of the wood stain should be dry so I can continue assembling my project! Can't wait to put up the pics and tutorial on my blog.

Hooray Sheila! You got rid of those cabinets just in time for Christmas! (Nice present!)
Tonight we got the Christmas tree up & decorated. DS has it in his room so we can shut the door when we're not home, & keep the dog away from it. We'll need to go through some more boxes in the basement, as my angel topper is missing. And, I'd still like to put up one of my artificial wreaths.
The kids & I visited Mom before church today, & dropped off her present a little early. It's a sweater in Christmas red (she LOVES that color), so she can wear it as much as she wants around the big day. I'm not sure how much more shopping we'll do, other than I'll need to pick up a few more food items before Wednesday. Swedish sausage, anyone?

We managed to fill another 2 bags of stuffed animals (how we did that at 27 years old with no kids, I don't know)... but we have those and a vcr/dvd player we are going to drop off at my mom's house later this week when we swap christmas presents with her.
Tomorrow is my last day, then i'm off till the 6th... So hopefully i'll be able to work the living room then...
Hubs is supposed to go to IKEA to buy the dresser on tuesday with a friend from church who has a big truck **crosses fingers**
