My 2013-14 Switchover list: (I have until the 11th to complete this list)
NYE activities (this involves, beer, wine, grilling brats, eating chips, and either movies or playing with the Wii)
Post budget in noticeable place
Post workout routine in noticeable place (and diet reminders)
Complete literary review for class Reorganize storage area in back of pantry Put Christmas stuff away (packed up- just needs to go away) Put luggage away again Pull small rack out of pantry and put in my room Find new home for stuff on small rack Neverending Saga of dishes and laundry Place all yard sale stuff in storage area with list of what is in there Put cover back on foyer light
Put stepladder, step stool, and other "stuff" in pantry/storage where it belongs Put work table back in pantry/storage- better idea- place in my room so I have plenty of workspace for school Drive Mom and friend to Famous Dave's (and I get fed for driving) Organize all chaos in house (you can all stop laughing now) Quiz 3 for school (not open until Sunday) Clean house again Consider Goodwilling stuff instead of hassling with yard sale and offer to help with food or something at yard sale instead (benefits 4-H)

Mizbear, can I come along to Famous Dave's? Yum!
1. I need to get all my paperwork together to do DD's FAFSA for 2014. (Boy, THAT came up quick!)
2. Begin organizing year end paperwork, both for our family, & for Mom. That'll take up a bunch of time. But, the earlier I get that organized, the sooner I can get back to cleaning & purging. Even though I won't get the W-2's to finish the job until the end of January/early February.

Sarah, welcome! As others have said, it's best to start small and keep the tasks manageable. IMO that's the best way to stick with it, and not get overwhelmed.
There has been no change with the DD issue, and as much as I'd like to toss her out, I'm not going to do it, and I'm not going to pay agency fees for a 6-month rental. I'm still looking at the FB groups DS2 sent me, and hoping that something affordable near her school comes up. Also finances are not great now, after all the recent issues with the rental. We also have a gutter that is leaking, they are coming to look at that Thursday. So I'm less and less inclined to borrow the money to get DD out of the house, because that loan would stick around for a lot longer than six months.
My cleaner came yesterday, it's AMAZING what she can do in 3 hours. So DS3 and I did five loads of laundry (I do NOT do DD's anymore). We were having trouble shoving the vaccuum in the broom closet so I cleared out the floor of that closet (although not the shelves, I may do that today).
We still have the tree up, we usually take it down on Twelfth Night but that's the day we go back to school / work so we'll probably take it down on Sun instead.
I go back to work PT on Monday, then full-time the following Monday.

Well, yesterday's "up before dawn" was just a one-day thing. Today I slept in until 10am. (But most of that I'm sure is due to taking a couple of Tylenol PMs at midnight.) So, I'm slogging along trying to get myself back into the swing of things in hopes to conquer the last of my to-do list.
Vacuum rec room Pick up pictures, fill out paperwork, mail them Laundry - whites (Wash, Dry, PUT AWAY) Vacuum the dog room Laundry - dog towels (Wash/Bleach!, Dry, PUT AWAY) Clean up yesterday's dishes Prep Xmas stuff for storage Read church book
Ready??
Set??
GO! (get another cup of coffee and contemplate what I'm going to do instead of what's on this list)

Christmas with the in-laws is tonight. I anticipating being asleep long before midnite and then tomorrow I will continue with the cleaning binge I started the other day. I'm excited for a more productive New Year. Tomorrow's agenda: Sort thru and toss stuff that is no longer good in the bathroom. We have shelves in there where things go to die. When I don't know where to put things, or if I am trying to keep stuff high up enough so that the 2.5 year old won't get it, it goes in there. I think I can make a big dent with just a half hour of effort. The weather is supposed to be unpleasant. I don't have a window by my desk but last time I went by the doors it was snowing pretty heavily. So I don't expect to do too much outside of the house tomorrow. We shall see though, since DH is off too and he always want to being going somewhere. Happy New Year (early) everyone!

For a while I was worried I had "broken the thread". So relieved to see more posts.
Happy New Year, dear friends, from the other side of 2014. I wish you and yours health, joy, happiness, and an uncluttered home. XO
ETA: I didn't get to the broom closet shelves today, but I shopped for and made a fabulous NYE dinner! Maybe tomorrow?!
ETA2: I did the shelves. (It is tomorrow, even though it's really early / late.) Only one thing to donate from the broom closet, but I threw out / burnt a bunch of stuff, and consolidated / reorganized some of it.
Also, after clearing up after dinner tonight, I put an old Ikea gift that I have never liked into the "donate" bag. I'm hoping to get rid of that bag tomorrow.

Also, through DS2's FB groups, I saw a room in an apt near DD's school, 40 min after it was posted. 750e per month. My comfort zone is 650, I could probably stretch to 700, I'd even be willing to do 750.
But it's all a moot point, because by the time I saw that post, literally just 40 min after it was posted, there were already 11 posts from people wanting it. Maybe I'm wrong but I didn't see any point in posting the 12th.
I'm hoping to bury this issue with the new thread. I know that many of you will judge me, I'm sure I deserve it, trust me, I judge myself too.
New year, new thread.

New year, new thread. Judge you for what?! For trying to do what you think is best? C'mon debt, you know better than that. Unless you've misrepresented yourself here for years, you're a kind, loving person who also happens to have boundaries for what behaviors they're willing to tolerate, especially in their own home. There's nothing wrong with that regardless of who we're talking about. Maybe I'm biased because I understand what it feels like to believe it's better for you and them if your adult child lives somewhere other than in your home, BTDT. Your home is suppose to be your haven imo, and anybody that judges you for wanting to protect that, even from your own adult child, tell 'em pink said "kiss it"! Happy New Year!

Today was pretty good I only had one client call and it went really well (love this client) so most of the day was errands and chores. There was a good coffee deal today so I bought one for the next person in line and think I'm going to do that more frequently in the new year! Remade the bed and flipped my mattress, turned all my hangers the opposite direction so I can see what I wear, started scanning pages ripped out of the magazines I went through this week (15 done, stack of 50 more to go!), made dinner and cleaned up the kitchen, took out all the trash, swept the front porch, stained more wood for shelf #2, put away the rest of the Christmas tubs, recorded videos for my business, did 2 loads of laundry, organized the bathroom and lit up a bunch of candles. Whew. Exhausting day! The bathroom was probably the biggest positive thing - I organized all my hair stuff and decided how I would re-arrange things when the second shelf is built. The cabinet is really clean and organized and I'm hoping I can keep it that way! I pulled out some things for donation (clothes, makeup bags, jewelry organizer) but I won't count it until it's dropped off at Salvation Army later this week. Oh, I also started re-arranging things on the bookshelves in the dining area (which moved in here from the office in Nov). Since I got rid of 140+ books there is a lot of empty room so I'm trying to make these display shelves until I sell them.

Rukh, doing FAFSA is like doing your taxes early. And, it always takes longer than the website says it will. It's easier if you look up a lot of financial information before you get started. Of course, technically it's not "complete" until your taxes are filed, & you upload your tax into onto the FAFSA website. But, I've always been told, when it comes to government financial aid, the early bird gets the worm. That's why I start mine early. (BTW, I'm taking a break from working on it right now.)

I made it, but barely. Still sleepy, I stumbled into the rec room with my first cup of coffee to say Happy New Year to DH and the cable box said 11:59am. Whew. Made it. Outta bed before noon.

Thanks for starting the new thread! I hope the intro doesn't deter others from joining. It sounds a little formal to me, but that's JMHO. We are far from "formal" here. Well, I was in bed by 9pm last night after a 15 hour migraine, one of the worst I've ever had. If it wasn't single digit temps and NYE and a 30 min drive, I may have considered going to the ER, something I have never done for a migraine, but this was awful. Anywho, got rid of it somehow in the night, and was up, showered and out the door by about 8:15 am. Made the rounds and did a bunch of returns I had to do. I was hoping I'd get it done before most people were even up, and I pretty much did. I don't go to WM EVER, hate, hate, hate that place but bought something online I had to return. I was there before 9 am and there were about 10 cars in the parking lot. Woohoo! I am off til Monday and we are getting a BIG snowstorm tomorrow and Friday, so, I will have plenty of "home" time to work on some cleaning stuff. I already started packing away my Christmas decorations but need to finish that up. OOPS, meant to post this on the new thread. I'll try to move it if I can figure out how...
