Logging my food into MFP - I haven't been making the best choices and now its easy to see why that weight has crept back up. But I did get in a workout today. Just got to get them in tomorrow (which I will - meeting up with a friend to go jogging for an hour), and then Tuesday. Off to a pretty good start.
Week one: 3/5

I didn't do so well with exercising this week. I only did one workout and I couldn't walk for 2 days! That's how out of shape I am! I have been doing much better with my food though. I have been under my calories both yesterday and today - and the weekends are usually the hardest. Planning dinner out tomorrow night and have already been scoping out the Applebee's under 550 menu!
Watching The Biggest Loser! I love this show. This season they are focusing on childhood obesity as well. They have 3 teens on the show - will be interesting to see how this goes.

I made goals and stated them to DH. Also told him the budget was going to have to stretch if necessary... Goals: 1. 10 off = new purse. 2. 20 off = massage 3. 50 off = trip to destination spa (for the day only, sadly)
I'm thinking I may need to figure out something for 35 lbs. but we'll see.
I didn't eat well over the weekend but I did chase, well walk fast, after DS for over an hour at the Domes (local indoor botanical gardens); spent 45 minutes or so pushing a double cart though Target and treadmilled last night. 1 mile = 22+ minutes. I didn't want to push too hard as I haven't treadmilled in months. I was just starting to feel it in my thighs/butt when I stopped. I'm not sure how hard to push myself on this. Any thoughts?

That's a thought. I'll have to look into that. Keep in mind, I'm lazy and procrastinate ;D .

I haven't been doing too well on the exercise front except for chasing after my 19 month old and since we live in a 2nd floor apartment, carrying his 26 pounds up and down the stairs a few times a day. Been more aware of my eating since starting this and am trying to get better about portion sizes. Also upping the water intake. This thread is motivating. Lets keep up the good work!

I do use the kids as weights too. I'll lay on the floor and place my hands on their hips/tummies and lift. Or they will sit on my feet and lay on my lower legs and I lift my legs up. One kid at a time, obviously. They're both about 42-45 lbs.

I'm going to treadmill tonight. Does removing the ornaments and lights from the tree count as exercise? lol. I did put them back in their bins and back in the basement too. But then I finished off the wine (maybe 1/2-2/3 of a glass, straight from the bottle while I watch Poiret. So that probably cancels each other out... I'm making tacos for dinner tonight. The kids like them and I have leftover rice and beans so I'm going to make myself a taco salad. ;D

This is probably a stupid question, but any foolproof way to make rice and black beans? I had it at Chilis and it was so good!

I bought a box of rice in the taco aisle and a can of refried beans so I'm no help.

I did go jogging last night for 45 minutes. Of course, DH calls as I am leaving the gym and asked for Dairy Queen. I got him a regular blizzard and I got a mini. And then had 3 beers after the ice cream. Pretty sure all calories burned jogging were replaced and then some!
One more workout to fit in this week! DH is gone on a business trip for the next few days. It will be a lot easier to eat well and get my exercise in without him there.
Week one: 4/5
**ETA** - I just logged those calories from last night. WOW! The MINI blizzard still had 400+ calories. And the beers were about 125 each. Glad I didn't chow down on the cheezits like I wanted to as well.

Please help talk me off the chocolate ledge! I eat when I'm bored, I just had 2 slices of pizza, a glass of water and a carrot. Guess this means I need to buckle down and do my job.

Beth - can you just take the chocolate away from your desk? What about a glass of water with a straw? Usually that solves the problem for me - I can take a sip from the straw whenever I would be reaching for something to eat, crunch on ice or chew on the straw if I am bored. Then I have to get up for frequent breaks so it keeps me moving around as well

Sorry, I don't have chocolate at my desk. I don't have the willpower for that. I'd have to go to the vending machine to buy some. And there's peppermint taffy in the kitchen so going in there isn't good either. There's not really anywhere to get up and go to, except the bathroom here right now. We're kind of overflowing with people today.

sam - thanks! found that but it doesn't include how to do the rice and beans. maybe it's just too simple for a recipe...

There were some links on the page to the beans recipe. Surprised the rice wasn't on that site too.

red - the recipe for the beans was added in the comments section. i didn't see any chilis rice recipes when i did site search, but i imagine doing a bag of uncle ben's steamed rice will do the trick. let us know if you make the black bean recipe & if you like it.

i watched Biggest Loser last night. i think it will be an interesting season. i like that they are putting childhood obesity out there too. Are the kids in some kind of contest too, or just added to spotlight the epidemic? since i missed the premier (& i wouldn't be surprised if i missed another episode since) i'm not sure what all is going on. have ya'll been watching? last season i watched with more commitment after missing the first few weeks & jillian wasn't in it. or maybe she was & i missed it? or maybe that is the new twist this season - 3 teams instead of 2? what are your thoughts? if you watched last night did anything stand out? to me, it was the guy on bob's team that lost ZERO pounds & he said he did everything right (but his face betrayed his words).
i have done 4/5 workouts for the week - i'm counting the housework done on saturday & sunday because of the on-my-hands-&-knees floor mopping i did. i will get my 5th one in today & will do a weigh-in tomorrow.

Does taking down all the Christmas decorations, hauling them off to the garage and hoisting them up to the top shelf again (quite a feat for those heavy boxes), and then moving all the living room furniture back, all by myself count as enough effort to be an exercise for today? I hope so, because I am too beat to do anything else! We are moving at work too, so a co-worker and I spent a good 30 minutes loading up boxes of files, stacking, and labeling them for the transfer. Whew! My muscles were seriously getting a workout today.

No treadmill for me last night. I was in bed by 8:30 with my Kindle. Woken up at 10 by DH for snoring and moved to the couch. Heard DD get up and knock on our bedroom door and opted to let DH handle it. Turns out she peed in her bed so he dealt with changing sheets at 2am. Of course, he had to ask me where the sheets were and then DD wanted me to snuggle with her. And when I was done snuggling (around 3am), DS was up so I went to snuggle with him. So I"m tired.
Tonight: 1. Fold laundry. 2. Do laundry as I now have 2 sets of peed on sheets to wash. 3. Deal with last of Christmas - wait, I'm not on the Organize thread, am I? Whoops. Sorry.
Ok, I forgot to weigh myself this morning. Will do that tomorrow. I'm not treadmilling tonight. Will do that on Thursday.

I love MFP! Thank You!
Altho, it did say to eat more, so I am making a conscious effort to eat almost non stop (least that's what it feels like)
I agree, Tree and Christmas is a workout by itself!

Finally cleared a space in the bedroom so that I can do my exercise videos in there. We have a small apartment and the only other place I could do them is in the living room and there are too many toys (landmines I call them) to make it feasible. Need to get a new wire for the wii (our cat chewed thru the old one) and see if that can be moved in the bedroom so I can have that as an option too. I have zumba for the wii which I love. Gonna make that happen this week. Gonna weigh in tonite or tomorrow morning. That will probably disgust me enough to keep up my eating healthier. I have been trying not to snack as much. I eat when I'm bored and it seems like I'm bored a lot

I have been trying not to snack as much. I eat when I'm bored and it seems like I'm bored a lot Boy do I hear you on that. I too eat when I'm bored and I've been very bored this week at work. And trying, sort of, to not snack. (Really, the handful of carmel corn just jumped out of the can at me. I had to defend myself.... )
