I did manage to get Jack in last night ... he was playing hard to get. He wanted in early tonight, then wanted back out ... nope, not gonna happen ... supposed to rain tonight. Chance of thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon.
I need to do some around-the-house stuff tomorrow, and make a grocery run.

The guys finished up the pantry Friday mid-afternoon. I did a little painting on Saturday. Sunday was get things back in order before returning to work day. I got everything put back in the pantry and out of the living room. I dusted, it was amazing how dusty everything was. In general just got things sorta back to normal. I still need to paint the kitchen walls and all my new trim work. One door is almost all the way painted and the other door still needs paint. The main thing that is slowing me down with painting is that I know I need to scrub the walls. I don't mind painting, I just don't like the prep work.

This morning, I looked in the mirror and decided that it was time for a trim. Once that was accomplished at my favorite Great Clips (I have short, simple hair that's hard for anyone to mess up), I decided to once again venture forth and tackle a trip to Walmart since I was already in the same parking lot and assumed (wrongly) that the checkout lines wouldn't be ridiculously slow on a rainy Tuesday. Anyway .... I remembered my reusable bags (since we now get charged for bags in Caifornia) and ventured in ... without a shopping list since it's at home on the fridge. I think I managed to get what I needed, and then some. I treated myself to a rotisserie chicken (hot and fresh) and some potato wedges (those I'm saving for dinner), too. After waiting forever in line (seriously, I'm surprised that darn giraffe didn't have her baby while I was standing there), I successfully checked out, got my things to the car, came home and put things away. (Breakfast was my normal cereal and banana, and instead of my usual protein shake, I had hot, fresh chicken ... which I also shared with the cats, since I'm a softie). Not surprisingly, lunch will also be chicken. And dinner will be chicken. And I'll probably have chicken for lunch tomorrow, too. (Unless I share more with the cats, a distinct possibility.) On a completely unrelated note, have you seen that video going around of that GIANT chicken? www.usatoday.com/story/tech/talkingtech/2017/03/20/internet-freaking-out-over-giant-brahma-chicken/99402222/It rained enough last night to make a yellow, polleny mess of everything ~ but not enough to actually wash the pollen away. There are yellow streaks and swirls on my driveway, and the gutter water has yellow froth. There's the possibility of thunderstorms this afternoon and I'm really hoping so .... it's a mess out there right now! I am glad that our cars are parked in a garage. (Though yellow pollen on a yellow Mustang might not show so much!) I looked at my laundry and decided I didn't have enough for a load yet, so I've put that off until tomorrow. I'm still waiting on the trash dumping so I can bring things up. Come on, rain! Come on!

Yes, the trash can is on wheels.
Nurse came today. She was surprised at how easy I can get on and off the couch.
Surgery was 15 days ago. I have come a long way, but I'm not 100% yet.
I am eating real food now and nurse said that is helping gain strength.
For today's shower, she was in the bathroom. She got a new client near me so will be back on Thursday. For that shower, she will be in living room and we will see how it goes.
Getting closer to graduating from home health care.

Eating real food didn't turn out to be the best idea. I think I over did it. I didn't feel well yesterday and don't again today. Nurse was here this morning. Think we have the food item that I overdid figured out.
Nurse said to call her if this continues because my family (except for dad) is out of town until Sunday evening.
I do now have a grab bar on my shower. Had to sit in shower a lot longer today. Grab bar definitely helps with getting out of shower.

Theotherme, Hope you continue to heal. Glad to hear that you got a grab bar and it helped. I'm not doing so great either, I tried a new medication and it didn't agree with my stomach. I should be better by tomorrow,

My allergies and sinuses are a mess ~ spring pollen.
Have a friend coming in for 2 nights from out of town.
More rain tomorrow ... and it's an Adoption Center day.
Megan (cat) has watery eyes. I chased her around to put some terramycin (cat eye antibiotic) in them .... now she's traumatized with watery eyes. She was fine yesterday.

Peace77 and TheOtherMe hope both of you are feeling better soon. My Oreo kitty also is struggling with her annual watery eyes. She will look like she is crying there will be so many tears running down her face. Fortunately this year the vet just refilled the NeoPoly Dex drops for me without a vet visit. When she adopted us both of her eyes were horribly infected. The vet said then that they had been untreated for so long that some scar tissue has probably developed in the tear ducts, so watery eyes tends to be an on going issue with her. It flares up every spring. I am still working on painting the kitchen.

Basketball season is officially over for me. My team got beat last night. Is it November yet?

After 2 days of chasing Megan around to put Terramycin in her eyes, I had a friend help me yesterday buy some Vetericyn opthamalogic gel/drops in her eyes. (This took a 20-minute chase of her through the house). Not sure if they helped, or lot ... but that gel is antimicrobial and should flush out any dust, etc she's got in there. She still seems to be feeling fine.... except for the watery eyes and two people chasing her around the house, of course.
Cats!

I have been working on getting my kitchen/dining room walls painted. I think that is done except for a little touch up. The trim work is still left to paint but that is for another day. I am done in.

I always found it easier if friends were around to help me medicate cats. So much easier. Since Lucy and I have a relationship where I just pick her up, I think I could just do that. I have never had problems getting her in to the carrier to go to the vet.
I'm still slow and tired. Cleaning lady is coming Wednesday. I can't drive so she is going to have to take a check for part of it.
I do think tomorrow I am going to start the car. It has not been started since early March. At least it hasn't been cold.
I hope to wash some blankets tomorrow, clean off the footstool and kitchen island.

Theotherme,
Be careful please. Blankets can get very heavy when they're wet. Maybe the cleaning lady could put them in the dryer for you.

Be patient with yourself and your healing. Celebrate your successes.
I'm finally past being only at 50% or less, post flu. I think I might be at 60% of my healthy pre-flu self.

I did some laundry today, and I went shopping at Trader Joes. I also got to chat with my wonderful DH on the phone ~ so that's always quite delightful.
I had an out of town house guest Thurs-Fri-Sat ... which was fun. Now I'm putting things back in place.
Looks like it should be sunny this upcoming week .... that will give me a chance to get bird feeders filled, get some bushes trimmed, and to get in some reading in the sunshine..... at least Monday through Thursday. (Friday and Saturday will be Adoption Center days.)
Megan's (cat) eyes are looking just fine ... so I didn't chase her around the past few days.

Blankets are waiting as I found some comfy clothes that needed washed. They weren't heavy.
Have a couple of places to clean up by Wednesday--even if that means putting the stuff in a room the cleaning lady doesn't clean.
21 days ago was the day of the surgery. I want all days to be good and they just are not yet. I'm getting impatient.
Last Thursday, I had had two rough days, so nurse stayed in bathroom while I showered. I'm not brave enough to shower with nobody in the house.

Petco yesterday. Petco today. Petco tomorrow. Petco Saturday. (The regular staff member has the flu!) Wow ... four days in a row of having to be nice to people at the Adoption Center whilst enduring sometimes really ridiculous questions..... I'm up for the challenge! At least there are cats to pet. Not really any kittens ... it's not kitten adoption season ... just kittens being born season. (They have to be fixed and have had 2 shots to come to our Adoption Center... so that usually puts them around 10-11 weeks of age at the earliest) Right now, we've got a lot of adults and teenagers, though.
McIntosh (cat) is driving me (more) nuts. He keeps sitting in front of the TV and won't budge unless I get up and walk toward him and then he jumps off. Augh. My wonderful DH listened to my mini rant about this and then told me to check my email. He ordered me a nerf blaster gun and soft darts to discourage McIntosh from parking where he ought not park. I looked again at the order and saw that he actually bought TWO nerf blaster guns. Methinks he is concerned about my being armed with a nerf gun when he is unarmed.
We've got a LOT of wind here. Knocking-over-trees and power outages windy. No wonder my asthma, allergies and sinuses are acting up!
Tomorrow (Friday) is payday ... woo hoo! I get to pay some bills. I need to fill bird feeders ~ maybe tomorrow after Petco (it was too dusty and polleny out there this afternoon when I got home.)
I did pick up a few things at Trader Joes on my way home. Being at Petco four days in a row is throwing off my schedule.
All is well with my wonderful DH.

This has been a very long horrible week. Co-worker was on vacation Monday-Thursday, thank goodness he will be back tomorrow. We had a bunch of layoffs yesterday and several people moved into other departments etc. My shoulders are a knotted up mess. I may try and get in the chiropractor next week or see if I can get a massage. Right now I am so tired I could fall down on the floor and go to sleep right there. I have a couple more bills to pay for tomorrow then it is off to bed for me.

Rough week for me. Today was the last day with the home health care nurse. Both she and my nurse who checks in from hospital thinks I've had a stomach virus.
Seems to be gone today so I can start to get my energy back.
Both said it was definitely a setback.
Guess who doesn't understand? My niece is bringing some things by tomorrow and helping me with a few things. I love my niece so much.

I know a half-dozen different people with a nasty stomach virus ... there is definitely something going around right now, that's for sure.
Today was stressful at the Adoption Center ... I think every crazy person in a 2-mile radius came in today ... we had to ask several to leave. One I had to yell at. On the upside: 2 adoptions today, so yay. I'm relieved that tomorrow (Saturday) is the last day of this 4-day stretch.
Our 10-day forecast includes 3 days in the mid-80s. I am so NOT ready for the 80s.
I need to do laundry ... probably Sunday.
I filled bird feeders and put peanuts out for the squirrels when I got home. I was too pooped to fill up the thistle feeders for the finchies, but they can eat the other seed and I promised them I'd do it Sunday morning. (They still have SOME!) Gave some extra water to my droopy sunflowers. We can only water on Sundays, so I turned the sprinkler time on to go off on Sunday.
I also need to skim the pool .... it has a gazillion pine fronds floating in it from our wind storm the other night.

Four days in a row at the Adoption Center .... my brain is fried, I'm thoroughly tired of the public, and I need some peace and quiet.
I've got laundry in the wash and it's almost midnight ... my goal is to get it in the dryer before bed, and then deal with it tomorrow.
Two kittens adopted today. Put gas in my car on the way home... so that's off my To Do list.
Tomorrow, I'm going to try to skim more leaves and debris from the pool ... I got a bunch out yesterday, but not all of it. Tomorrow afternoon when it's sunny should be a better day for tackling this.
Monday: pool guy, spider guy, and the dentist! (EEEEEK!) I have to go by myself to the dentist since my wonderful DH is still deployed ... and my dentist anxiety is already slowly ramping up.
We've got mid-80s in our forecast for next week. (sigh)

Finding out again how weak I am. This morning, I've gotten myself together, brought in the paper, done two loads of laundry and put away. I have also fixed two meals--yes, light food as we are reintroducing solids again. I am beat and will again be taking a long nap.
It's when I do stuff like this (and I know I have to do this stuff), I know how far I have to go to get back to whatever my normal is.
Nurse gave me good advice: set small goals for each day next week leading up to taking dad shopping on Thursday. So my calendar has goals. The entire Thursday goal is to take dad shopping.

Theo, a nap sounds like a great idea! I've done two loads of laundry today, paid some bills, and worked on getting more leaves skimmed out of the pool. It's a nice day out there.
