Trash cans out. Did laundry. Paid the homeowner's insurance bill. Did a bunch of cat rescue stuff. Tomorrow I will venture out to Trader Joes.

Tonight was a busy evening. I made a quick stop at the store after work where I bought about 1/8 of the things on my list. Guess I will be going back to the store tomorrow. I did remember to buy a bunch of veggies so tonight I had to clean lettuce, spinach and asparagus. It seemed to take forever to get that chore done. Garbage is out for tomorrow and just finishing up paying bills.

Saw surgeon today and gall bladder is coming out on Monday, March 6. Check in at 11:30 AM, procedure at 1:30 PM. Will have an overnight stay and, if all is well, be released Tuesday morning.
Sister is taking me to surgery and niece is bring me home on Tuesday.
Surgeon said the test I had last week made it very clear the gall bladder is not functioning and needs to be gone.

I've been out of town for a few weeks and will fly home upcoming Monday. Pantry and fridge on leaving looked like Old Mother Hubbard......plans for next Tuesday is some serious restocking, including lots of veggies and fruits.

TheOtherMe glad you finally got a definitive answer and can now move forward and start feeling better. Me, too. I spent some time last night reading blogs on what it's like after surgery. Sounds like I will want those pain killers for a couple of days at least. Did some grocery shopping today and will do some more tomorrow. People said when they started eating again after surgery it was soup and crackers type of stuff. My concern now, and my therapist agreed with me that I should tell the medical team, is that during my last surgery under general anesthesia, I had the near-death white light experience and I also did not do well after surgery and ended up hospitalized 28 days instead of 4-7 days.

Best wishes on surgery and a fast recovery time TheOtherMe . Thank you. I'm nervous, but ready. Dr. Google is not always your friend. Got the prescription for painkiller filled today. Pharmacist gave me a lecture about how addictive they are. Also said if I have any left over, do not flush them in toilet or just put in trash. Either crush them and put in kitty litter or bring them back to pharmacy and they will safely dispose of them. These pills will not be the first step to addiction for me.

Theo, you will be in my prayers and thoughts. Spring has sprung here ... and the blossoms and pollen prove it. Ahhh choo! We're forecast for rain on Sunday, but nice weather otherwise for the 10-day forecast. Ran to the grocery store today to cash in my lottery ticket, and picked up some salmon and asparagus for dinner. All is well with my wonderful DH. He's ready to be home and I'm ready to HAVE him home. Two weeks from tomorrow is my birthday (mark your calendar!)

I've moved Lucy's food to the kitchen counter so I won't have to bend over to feed her. She doesn't know what to make of this because usually I am telling her to get off the kitchen counter.

I'm getting nervous about my surgery. Please let this be the answer to my problems. Everyone I have ever known, myself included, has felt better after they had a problematic gall bladder removed. It may not be instantaneous relief as your body will need to adjust to how it digests certain foods but I truly believe you will feel better. Being a vegetarian you may have an easier time adjusting since you are eating fatty meats like bacon.

Theo, I will be thinking about you and your surgery ... and praying, of course. Every single person I know who has had the surgery felt much better once they were all healed up.
Survived two days (Fri and Sat) at our adoption center ... lots of cute kitties got new homes ~ yay! Slept in today, then filled bird feeders and ventured out to Sprouts for some groceries (mostly veggies), but apples and bananas, too. Picked up some turkey and chicken. I even managed to get a load of laundry OUT of the dryer and into the bedroom! Just 33 days until he comes home .... yay! (I did just realize that I have a dentist appointment scheduled that I will have to go by myself, but I'm just reminding myself that it's JUST a cleaning and I can do this!)

Received a Facebook message from Theo after her surgery:
"I am alive. You can share that gallbladder was very inflamed and they had to do big cut. I hurt a lot"

Thanks for the update. TheOtherMe rest easily. You may find that rolling to your side, incision side up, and then sitting up is less painful. That way you are using more of the muscles away from the incision. I too had the big cut

She mentioned today that her doc mentioned that her gall bladder was among the most inflamed he'd ever seen. (Ouch) She said that she was very tired, but feeling better.

Getting out of bed after that surgery was a kind of hell I didn't anticipate. And I only had the small incisions.

I am home. Very tired. Slept most of 12 hours. Lucy woke me up twice, purring. I did get up and go to the bathroom both times.
Waiting for the home health nurse to call. Tired, so going back to bed.
I haven't had any pain meds in over 24 hours. I am hoping not to feel the need for anything stronger than tylenol at home.
No sleep in hospitals. At least I have no complications so far, aside from needing the open surgery. So I have the 4 small cuts and the large cut because the original plan was not the open surgery.
Nurses and CNAs were great. Worked with me yesterday about my fear of being home alone and homebound because of home health care nurse.
It does hurt to get up. Taught me to push myself to edge of bed or couch and push from there. It's a bit less painful every time.
Walking and doing breathing exercises as instructed.
Thanks for your kind wishes.

TheOtherMe glad you are home and able to get some rest. You would think that hospitals would understand that you will feel better and heal better if you can get some sleep.

The first night, day of surgery, the staff had gotten us all ready for the night and I'm sure hoping we'd sleep. I'd had all my meds, including pain pills. Then we had a tornado warning and they had to get all of the patients in to the hall. They were working so hard getting the patients in the hall. All the farther they had taken me at that point, was the commode. Hadn't even gone as far as the bathroom.
They got me in to the recliner and pushed me in to the hall. At least I could stay awake. Since I was only supposed to be there for 24 hours when I went in, there were no meds ordered for me except pain meds. I'm guessing some of the others had other meds, including sleep meds, as they couldn't stay awake.
Looking back, I can see humor, but it hurt really bad getting in and out of that chair at that point.
The next morning is when I started walking the halls. Doctor had not released me to do that the night before.
He came by about 6 AM both mornings and wanted to know what kind of day I was having. At that point, I really didn't know either day.
No pain meds today and don't feel the need at the moment.

I am sure your kitty missed you, Theo. That part about the tornado is scary ~ glad everything turned out OK.
Went out to dinner with a girlfriend tonight, it was nice. Tomorrow is a Petco day (adoption center), then I have the weekend off. I don't think I will need to go grocery shopping over the weekend, so I may just plan two days in my jammies! Except for getting the mail and filling bird feeders .... I'll do that in shorts! (smile)
My wonderful DH sent me an adorable fuzzy stuffed animal sloth .... so I've named him David Lee Sloth (a not-so-subtle tribute to my Van Halen-loving youth) We're supposed to be in the 80s by Tuesday. I don't think I'm quite ready for the 80s. But it is great open-windows weather, of course! That I really do appreciate.
I'm still counting down the days until my wonderful DH comes home. Oh well, at least he'll be home by our anniversary in April, right?

Yes, your wonder DH will be home by your anniversary.
Lucy woke me again last night. Not as tired as first night as it took some time to get back to sleep.
Home health care nurse will be here in about an hour.
