The reason the link isn't working is the URL needs a "/" at the front of it. Right now it's linking to "threads/recent" instead of "/threads/recent" Once we get the admin area working for you this should be a very quick fix in your settings area. I don't mean to throw anyone under the bus, but the "New Topics" button worked for quite a while earlier......was there an edit?

I don't mean to throw anyone under the bus, but the "New Topics" button worked for quite a while earlier......was there an edit? It works just fine. One of the admins here manually added "new Topics" to the top menu via the Admin Settings section. However, when they did this they forgot to put the "/" at the beginning. Very minor mistake and very simple solution for you to fix.

I'm still having to use the Ctrl+Shift+P to get the sign-in window to appear (and work) if I exit the site 99.9% of the time. Can you do me a favor and try again? Most of the problem related to login issues appears to have been from bad codes that were setting cookies on the forum. Our system is setup to delete those bad cookies automatically now which *should* resolve the login issues. Give it another try, and if you're still having problems, please let us know. We're continuing to monitor the issue.

cheers, I was just wondering if an edit had been made since earlier today when it did work. Virgil doesn't tend to mess with his code once it's proven to work, so I wasn't sure where the tweaks were. you and Martyn are both posting tonight, thank you for the attention post-upgrade.

OK. I fixed the missing / in front of /threads/recent so that's working properly again.

It would work on the very "homepage" of the forum, but other pages would not work. We're here to help, and we hope to have most (if not all) problems sorted very shortly here. Lots of last minute patches have been going in to try to ensure all these problems go away.

Patrick, are the 'phantom' PMs part of that? A number of us show that we have new when we don't. I know there was a thread on support earlier today but it hasn't been updated recently.

I don't believe so. If you can figure out how to reproduce this problem (step by step), that would help us to track it down and get it fixed. Please post on the v5 bugs board with the details when you have them

Please post on the v5 bugs board with the details when you have them Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to reproduce it.. some of us had 'new messages' showing since after the conversion took place last night. nothing i've done has made it go away.

Moon-for what it's worth. I too had the 'new message' showing last night and I clicked on the 5-6 most recent messages to see if I had missed one. After clicking on the few, the 'new message' message went away.

Moon there was no error message - when I clicked login on the homepage, a second page came up with a pic of my avatar(my account) and another "guest" account I clicked on my account and immediately got re-directed back to the homepage without the sign-in window ever appearing. I then had to do the Ctrl+Shift+P a couple of times until the sign-in block finally appeared again. I filled in my username and P/W and checked the Stay Signed-In box. (Which had always left me permanently signed-in before on v4.5 unless I manually signed-out). I've taken a chance and exited the site (gone off the web) a few times today, to see if I could get back in like before on v4.5 (by clicking the idesktop icon I have the site saved in on. No such luck - had to go through all those key-entering steps again to get the sign-in box to appear.
I probably sound like I'm talking gibberish - but that's the best way I can explain it.

Are you logged in for a single pageview (but then you are a guest after you click)? What happens exactly?

Not sure how to be more descriptive without sounding totally inept and blonde. I explained the hoops Im having to jump though (99.9% of the time - before on v4.5 I was always logged in - and I just had to click my destop icon to get back here. Now if I exit the internet, Im amost guaranteed to have to do the Ctrl+Shift+P to get the login window again. Before if I was logged out, it would come up automatically once I clicked sign-in.

Can you try this: 1) Close all browser windows 2) Open up your browser, and immediately clear the entire cache and all cookies 3) Close the browser again, and re-open it 4) Go to the forum and try to login Let me know how it goes.

I tried to use quick reply twice this morning (in the WIR declutter thread) both times - my post disapppeared, and I got some sort of error message that said something about a possible forgery. When I used the reply button, the post went through ok.
BTW, I used quick reply yesterday, with no issues.

I can not post anything using the quick reply button. I just get Invalid request token / possible request forgery. I was able to get a post in the coffee shop by using reply. My post did go blank after hitting reply and I had to retype it and then hit the create post button.

Not as much fun coming from a computer program.

I'm using Safari and am having the same Quick Reply and Reply problems as Waffle and Sharon. I have to use Create Post to post. I also want to second that there is no page number box at the bottom of thread pages in Safari. And, finally, is there a way to permanently set one's font size? Safari seems to always default to microscopic font and I prefer a 12 or 14. Otherwise, thanks, everyone!!! I know your contributions of time and effort have been very significant -- on top of your already busy real lives. Know that it is sincerely appreciated.
