I don't know... wish i did.. even so, that's just when admins can choose to upgrade early.. the forced release, where all forums get converted, won't happen until probably the 1st quarter of 2013 it sounds like.

have you tried the multiple quote function over there, yet?

i love that, though it does get a little weird if you're using BBCode for your default posting style because it puts your preferences under the last quote.. so, you have to copy it up underneath any others and type in between as usual.

I wanted to ask you about V5 Moon, or anybody who can answer. I noticed in my V5 message center that there is an Archive choice. My question is how do I use this feature ? Thank You.

Sugi, if you have messages you wish to keep, but are 'in the way' so to speak, you can select them and archive. Then, when you want to view them again, simply select Archive from the dropdown (normally says inbox) and you can access them from there.

You could even go a step further, and add labels. Maybe one for PMs from staff, one for special friends, etc. from the actions dropdown, select Labels > Manage labels.. If you don't have any, click Create New Label . Name it what you want.. choose a color.. when you're done, you will then have that label in the same dropdown list as inbox/outbox/archive.

To add a label to a new message, select it then go to the actions dropdown >Labels and choose the appropriate label. Sorting is so much easier!

[Steady As She Goes]

So I decided to give this new beta a shot. It appeared to accept my login information. I got the email ... used the link in the email ... went to the "choose" screen to login as me or a guest ... Cose "me" and got the error: "Your login session key was invalid." on the next page. I used the Back Page and entered as "Guest" and could at least view the new beta version, but couldn't post until I logged in ... which gave me the same error as before.

you got the 'your account has been upgraded' email steady? if so, you need to use your email and pw now.. and if it's giving you fits that way, we may have to ask on support. i do see where it says you logged in an hour ago...

you can try to logout, then login again using email/pw combo.

I've logged on and it seems the board is few days behind in posting sense. Why is that?

Another thing is what is following and having followers on the new format? How useful will that be? I don't want to put anyone as 'Follow' ...makes you seem like a stalker IMO. So what's that all about?

Roselia, the beta board is a COPY of this one. most threads are only as current as the day i created it. they are two completely different boards, basically.

I'm not too keen on this 'following' thing. I usually click on a poster's moniker (if I want to) and see their last activity and it's all anonymous. Would that be possible on the new layout or can you only ''follow'' posters whom you've added onto your follow list?

I find the new PM format quite interesting too. I may like it. It doesn't seem much private though with the forward option.

No you can still click on a profile like before. it's anoymous when you do either way.. but what you see would be based on that person's privacy settings. For activity viewing, you can allow

everyone to see
registered members only
Friends and staff - this would mean the mutual following thing
staff only

as for PMs, they're no less private than now. i'm sure people often forward things from one to another.. just copy and paste.. this simplifies it, as all.. i like the threaded view of them and that you can send to a bunch all at once and see each other's responses.

I use the link in the email and it takes me to the Beta board with that message that says "Thanks for checking, blah, blah, blah..."

I select the "Login" link near the top right corner. And it takes me to the new page with the orange and blue boxes asking for email/username and password. I type in my email/pw combo and it takes me to the next page that i get the error message: "Oops, there was an error! Your login session key was invalid."

If I select the Login button again I go to a page that shows two selection boxes side-by-side: One has my "SteadyAsSheGoes username and correct avatar" and the other is for a "Guest" ... I'm asked to select an account ... When I select "Steady As She Goes" I go to the next page and near the upper right corner it finally says "Welcome Steady As She Goes" and I can navigate the forum and make posts.

Strange that I had to go through TWO similar login steps to login.

There is just more settings, but you can still block peeps and everything. The level of privacy is just dependant on your own wants and needs. I like the new version a lot.

We're not "going" anywhere. We'll stay right where we are; however, the layout for these boards will change, as will some of the aspects of posting and responding to which we've grown accustomed. The copy of the boards is the Beta for the V5 upgrade. Going there and messing around will enable posters to learn about the new layout before it becomes reality right here on our stage.

So far, I have really been liking it. It will take some getting used to the new format and etc. but really like the privacy options.

I like V5 too. The privacy options seem more extensive, which is great, and the feel/layout is nice too.

the other thing i really like is that if you use the same global id for all the different PB forums you're on, it's super simple to switch from one to another.. there's a little bar down in the lower right hand corner with options to switch accounts (nice when i need to view the forum as a regular member - i just switch to a test account i have).. or switch forums... or access account options (not yet live).

i can go from our betaboard, to 2 other betaboards.. support,, etc.

I agree on that Moon. It's mostly been he said and she said. In this way it's good to quote the exact pm if some message has to be passed on.
