I still have dreams sometimes about a guy I dated in high school. I don't believe he is my soul mate but he sure does pop in and out of my subconscious mind. I will go many months without thinking about him once and then all of the sudden I will have a dream about him and he will stay on my mind for a few days. He lives thousands of miles away from me and the last I knew he was engaged. I don't see us ever being together but I find it really odd that after 20 yrs he is still in my brain. Hum. Have you ever thought of trying to contact him? I contacted him on FB a few yrs ago and that is when I found out he was engaged.

Soulmates? I dunno. But I do know that it's easier to connect with some people than it is others. And when that connection is not forced it feels pretty good. Sure it's work to keep things going, but it's not really work if you enjoy what you're doing, now is it..

Almost40, according to dream interpretation theory very often when you dream of someone it is about what they represent to you. The basic theory is most of your dreams are simply about different aspects of yourself and that the people we see in the dream represent those aspects. He could represent almost anything like a path not taken that shouldn't be or whatever. FWIW. This is probably a pretty good theory. After high school we both went away to college. When I was 21 we ran into one another at a bar while home for Christmas break. He wanted us to get together and I was dating someone. Three months after that my college boyfriend and I broke up so I called this guy and then he was dating someone. I wanted to kick my own ass because I let him slip away.

LOL I heard from an old girlfriend on FB a couple of years ago that would certainly have been closer to a "soulmate" than the woman I married. I'm not entirely sure what possessed her to contact me, but it was nice to hear from her.

LOL - I went to a few different stores, and I even wore some around for a while before I finally committed.

They have surgery for that. No, I think it means someone who 'rides both buses' there's no surgery invovled nor are they hermaphrodites . They are equally comfortable in a relationship with either sex. Not everyone identifies as 100% straight or 100% gay.

Sometimes I wonder if me and my BF are. Other times, I think I'm just a masochist. ETA: I do believe we live more than one life and that the same souls are with us in each life. I've always felt connected to my BF and him to me - we feel safe with each. There are also others I've met that I have an intense dislike for as soon as I see them and the only reason I can find for those feelings is that we had dealings in a previous life that weren't good. I have met people that I have an intense dislike the minute I meet them too. I have learned to listen to that feeling!

We've spent almost 15 years floating in and out of each other's lives. We were only single at the same time twice out of all these years. The first time we didn't connect it was my fault, the second time was his. Considering I'm getting married in Feb, there will be no third chance. He still knows me better than anyone and is a dear friend.

No not in the sense that there's only one person out there that you're truly meant to be with. My grandparents were married 52 years, my grandfather passed away 10 years ago and my grandmother reconnected with a family friend who had lost his wife to cancer after being married for 50 years. Both of them seemed to be in love all over again just the same and it wasn't to disrespect their dead spouses but because they found in each other what they had with the previous spouses.

I can't remember the name of it to save my life (read it yrs ago). It went into some of the past life stuff but really it was about following your instincts.

This is how my parents were. "Doing it for the kids." I admire them both for sticking it out in their loveless marriage. Had they not, we would have ended up in foster care, because neither would have been able to support us on their own. I could not be in a loveless marriage just for the kids.

I know a similar story. After 45 years of marriage a lady I know found herself widowed and reconnected with her first love from high school. They have been inseparable and extremely happy for the last several years. Turns out they never got over each other.

I agree with you Swamp, I don't believe in destiny or pre determination. We all have choices, including who we choose as a spouse.

I think you can have a loveless marriage that's acceptable to those involved and maybe not that bad a thing if it keeps some stability for the kids involved. I think it depends on the attitude of the adults involved. Can they function as a 'couple' even if they just sorta like each other?

Hmmm, didn't realize we had so many members believe in reincarnation.
I don't believe it myself, but *shrugs* you can believe what you want to believe.
Just curious though. If you believe in past lives and claim to remember them. What makes you different than most who can't remember?

^ True... there's platonic, friendly loveless and passive-aggressive, "Dear, please ask your father to pass the peas, if it's not too much work for him" loveless.

The only soul I believe in is the genre of music, so I guess I don't believe in soul mates. I do believe that some people have good pickers and others have broken pickers. ;D

If you believe in past lives and claim to remember them. What makes you different than most who can't remember? No idea. Starting at about age 2 I talked daily about my real family in china and went into detail about family/living situations, etc. I remember being about 7 and realizing the incongruities of remembering both childhoods. My parents never encouraged or discouraged, but it was a good family joke as I got older. If it had been a day/week/month type thing they could have written it off as a tv show or dream, but it went on for years. But really anyone who has 'faith' has some pretty weird beliefs that can't be substantiated. They just feel right to the individual, and if they are used properly help us each to live our lives as best as we can.
