I am reminded of the perennial classic, Aesop's "The Fox and the Grapes".
That said, I ponder why it is that some people are so obsessed with the contents of other people's uteruses? People who oppose abortion of unwanted pregnancies are perfectly free to eschew such procedures for themselves, why do they feel an imperative to deny that choice to everyone else? Or is the repeated focus on the issue merely a cheap trick to increase posting activity on internet message boards? Increased traffic = increased ad revenue?

The same way we feel it's imperative to deny someone the choice of walking in a bank and killing a bank teller. Because it's murder. And it's not good enough to just say, "I won't murder, but I don't care what you do."
But you are right. This has been done!

LMAO!!! But we may have had a different President had that not happened! Or the win would have been a landslide.

Because those "contents" happen to be a living human being? This isn't the thread to debate whether or not this should be a right. Suffice it here that calling it a general "choice" rather than an incredibly specific choice isn't fooling anybody. Pedro is sorry. His English is a little sketchy and he thought the polling booth was the restroom.

For any "newbies" who happen to stroll by, be aware those are Virgil's term definitions, not P&M's term definitions. On P&M, people have their own minds and define their acronyms using those minds, not Virgil's.

Mine just happen to be more accurate. ETA: I mean come on. "War on women"? How can people even repeat that and hold their head up? Notwithstanding the fact that the battle is clearly across ideological lines and not across gender lines, you'd think people would have more respect for the term "war". War is death, blood and carnage, not a party's objection to paying for their fellow countrymen's abortifacient drugs. "War on women" makes a mockery of real wars on women: war rape, FGM, sexual slavery, etc. Anyone who uses the same term to describe these as they do to describe a principled objection to funding abortions is debasing themselves. Other terms, like "debt ceiling", "family planning", "reproductive rights" are textbook Orwellian, and everyone knows it.

I am reminded of a hubristic statement made on this message board: "Don't doubt me- EVER!"
Will the title of this thread, too, be altered repeatedly, in the process of it being perpetuated by its creator?

Will the title of this thread, too, be altered repeatedly, in the process of it being perpetuated by its creator? What difference does it make, patience. You're not forced to read it. As to hubristic statements ... hmmm ... let's leave that on another thread, shall we? Thanks, ever so.

I'll add these two to the list.
The middle two are incorrect, and the final three are something that one or two politicians stated once, not definitions used repeatedly ad nauseum on the board.

Whether or not I agree with the definitions; Do I even need to point out the irony of a Canadian who is better informed of US politics then most Americans....

Most Americans don't realize that the mirror between Canada and the US is one-way. We get your TV shows, your commentators, your news magazines, your newspapers, your radio, your political ads, your movies. Your scandals feature in our newspapers. Your election was headline news for this past week in our newspapers and on our TV stations. Any political message board is 90% or more American. 95% or more of the political blogosphere concentrates on American politics. Your elections last for two freakin' years, while ours are over in about four weeks. You guys are ten times our size. You own some ridiculous percentage of our businesses and assets. Frankly, we get more coverage on your issues than we do on our own, as a simple matter of our proportional sizes. The fact that nothing comes back through that one-way mirror, well... what are we going to do? Whine? Imply that Americans are ignorant dolts? Enumerate the reasons why we think Canadians are more worldly? Those approaches might work for Ms. Weltz, but some of us have better things to do. :-\
