As suggested by VB, a poll and discussion thread for the second US Presidential Debate (October 16, 2012).
The poll will remain locked until the debate is over, to avoid a repeat of last time's "precognitive voting".

I think it will be pretty even. If you like Obama, you will think he won, if you like Romney you will think he won.

It's funnier if we get to vote early and then defend that vote when faced with reality.

Maybe, but it's also perfectly analogous to what 99% of P&M does 99% of the time.
In this case we'd like to maintain the pretense that people's opinions of the debate aren't completely predetermined.

No predictions this time. Last time I took Obama by points and I thought I was playing it safe and I was wrong.
I know that these pseudo debates are not a full measure of the man, either of them, but the big O needs to step up. Public perception and what all the talking heads are babbling about post debate, seems to matter. I didn’t think Romney would get the kind of bounce he did from the last ‘debate’, but there you have it.
Having said that, if Obama gets caught in an awkward moment, a brain fart, a pregnant pause or shows us that he is not as smart as many of us thought he was…I’m not going to go hang myself in the attic. Quite frankly, I’m starting to suffer from election fatigue. Only three more weeks, thank you great flying spaghetti monster in the sky.
Actually, it would be nice to be on the offensive for a while and analyze what a brilliant job Romney promised he was going to do, and then pick it apart, slowly and with pleasure. These two are not that different…Romney supporters may be disappointed if they think some sort of revolution is coming.
You mean I may have to miss the first half of the Tigers Yankees game…NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Do democrats get to vote twice? Only if they want to win. ![](http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/smileys/1-1.gif) The pressure is really on Obama to perform, but the format lends itself to reinforcing talking points rather than going tit for tat, so only time will tell.

If the subject is foreign policy, I honestly don't see how Romney can win. But if he does, it's all over for Obama.
Edit: Hmm, I could have sworn this was a foreign policy debate. Maybe Romney does have a chance....

I have another 30 minutes to cling to my rope-a-dope theory.

I think Romney is doing well. He basically has to break even to win the debate because Obama is considered to be such a great speaker.

I've unlocked the poll. Please don't vote until the end of the debate.

Obama is doing well so, far. I'm glad he's calling Mitt out on his lies.

Can I vote now? I am not watching the debate or news coverage. No. There will be no voting until the end of the debate. *Heh. Sorry, Virgil. I didn't read you post about opening it up until after I posted. Still, how do you vote for who won a debate when you don't watch the debate? It's streamed on the internet, so you don't have to be watching TV. I know the person who requested the poll wanted voting held until after the debate.*

I'm curious, DJ. You had Pres. Obama favoured four to one a couple weeks back before this "Romney surge". What are your thoughts now?

I unlocked it because I'm headed away from the computer and I wasn't sure if anyone else would be around to unlock it at the appropriate time. I've locked it again, and I'll leave it to you to unlock it when the debate is over. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)
