"I avoid doing business that advertize with "family owned and operated" or a tradesman who does "proprietor", etc. on business cards. I think that they are harder to deal with as everything is personal. Negotiating a price is personal ("THEY" are losing money) etc." Back in 2007-2008, I briefely rented rooms in people's houses. I learned quickly that it's WAAAAY better to rent from a established company not an individual. Things get way too personal when you're in somebody's house. It might be ok to rent property from a landlord that doesn't live with you, but I think I prefer companies. Well, i like my own space and personal time. And, even when i visit my sister, we get a hotel room. I don't like 'crashing' at anyone's house. Would much rather have a hotel room where i can go when i am done talking.

Again, why would anyone CARE if i have on socks with sandals? If that is comfortable to me, or Crocs or whatever, why would anyone care? I don't get it. No one would CARE they would just think you look ridiculous And, then i supposed to care what they think or what? I don't.

Well, actually for this surgeon, that is how it did start for him. His young child died unexpectedly and tragically. And, he then got a tattoo and from there he has just kept going. As for how someone "should" hold a memory, i don't know. And, to wear it on your body is a way of keeping it with you and also a living memorial of sorts i would suppose. It makes sense to me. Hey, if that's how he honours his kid's memory, great. (I don't have to understand or like it, I guess.) (The danger of threads like these is that we're all offending someone. Sighhhh. LOL!)

Shooby, this is a thread to share our crazy biases, not to rebuke people for their crazy biases

And, i am not talking about professional dress. Yes, one has to dress to the satisfaction of their employer. No biggie. But, life is 24/7 now. Sometimes you are running to the convenience store at 1 am for some pediatric tylenol that you forgot to get. Sorry, but if i pop in with my flip flops and PJ pants looking like hell, well, so sad too bad!

And as a woman, I NEVER understood wearing ugly shoes! Seriously, even when I am running out for something quick, I would not consider wearing something ugly.

I guess my personal comfort is more important to me than what someone else thinks of my footwear. I dunno.

Muffin tops. I'm not exactly svelte, but why would I wear something that emphansizes flab in the middle? I'm currently sporting a muffin top. I've gone from a size 4 to a 6 this summer and I *refuse* to buy fatter clothes. So I embarrass myself every day by sporting a muffin. I figure a little embarrassment will motivate me. ;D

"I guess my personal comfort is more important to me than what someone else thinks of my footwear. I dunno. "
You misunderstand me...I honestly don't care what someone else thinks of me or what I wear. I wear what I wear because it makes me happy. I feel frumpy if I leave the house looking like an old lady, even if it is just sporting old lady shoes. My husband laughs at me because he doesn't understadn the shoe thing...while he likes the clothes I wear, he wouldn't care about my shoes...well, he would draw the line at Crocs and things like that

Women who have hair on their toes...who wear sandals...with no socks. Shave your toes, ladies!! It never even occured to me that women grew hair on their toes. But now that you mention it, took a quick look and guess we do. Glad I'm blonde, but wished you'd never brought it up. Thanks a lot. Sheesh, this Board teaches me all sorts of things I never needed to know. Do people really shave the tops of their toes? Wait, don't answer!!!

I have a crazy bias against cheerleaders and past cheerleaders - I assume they are all sluts. (remember I said it was a crazy bias - but I knew some very slutty cheerleaders in high school so that is where my mind goes anytime anyone says they are/were a cheerleader).
