I can't stand Duck Dynasty, and it seems to be on every single night. Every time I flip to A&E, I see hillbillies.

Speaking of TV, whatever happened to A&E that they suddenly decided to put such stuff on their schedule. I used to love catching old episodes of Murder She Wrote, McMillan & Wife, Columbo, etc - and other various series. Now you get 24 hrs straight (or more) of shows like "Duck Dynasty". There's absolutely nothing artistic or entertaining about A&E. Just a bunch of redneck hunters 24/7. That channel's getting as bad as TLC (another oxymoron) - the only thing I've learned from "The Learning Channel" is not to watch it.

The Learning Channel has turned into the 21st century version of the old-timey travelling freak shows. It was no longer PC to put these people on exhibit, so they put them on TV.

I watched the finale of "The Taste" tonight. I love that show - too bad the competition's over though. I hope it's not too long before a new one starts up.

Every time I turn on A&E, I get a bushy beard and a flag headband leaping out at me. Every. Single. Time.

I suppose it all depends where the hair is. I like some hair on a man. Cannot stand a well groomed and hairless man.

New season of DWTS (Dancing with the Stars) is starting soon. That's as close to real as you can get (IMO) - the grueling practice, successes & goof-ups on dance-floor, wardrobe malfunctions, etc.
(I guess the only thing fake about that show, is attaching the word "Star" to some of the entrants. (The contestants who are true actors are stars in their own right - as are any of the sports celebrities).
{Previous contestants Nancy Grace, for example, wasn't a "star" - nor was Kate Gosselin - they barely even qualified as "celebrities" - and even that's questionable.)
This show at least comes close to being classfied as "reality TV".

GEL: It premieres this coming Monday on ABC for 2 hours (9 pm I think) and then there's another one airng the next night (Tuesday) at 10 pm). Check your local listings for time in your area - but should be the same, since it's the ABC program lineup. Tuesdays show will probably be judging results from Monday's show.

Did you watch DWTS, Shoobs? I thought Dorothy Hamill's dance was beautiful. She certainly has the grace of an Olympic Gold Medal figure skating champion - and she had the choreography down-pat.
I'm inspired by her too - since she's also been dealing with (and so far winning) her battle with breast cancer. She was inspired to do the show because of figure-skating colleague Krista Yamaguchi (Season 6).

Yes, she danced beautifully. The Zendai or whatever her name is at 16 danced great. But, i am not sure i really support bringing 16 yr olds on the show. I really don't want to see an Adult/Kid dance. And, Val will have to be really, really careful not to push the bounds of good taste. Otherwise, it will just seem creepy.

so I'm flipping channels tonite (since nothing's catching my interest), and guess what's on A&E - again ! Yep, Duck Dynasty. I've been watching for 10 minutes (and about to change the channel, since that's all I can stand) - are these people for real? And they all have those long straggly, ugly beards and headbands. I didn't realize hillbillies were still in such abundance. And is that all they do? Make duck-calls? I presume they're all related in some way (uncles/brothers/in-laws). The women aren't much of an improvement.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Shooby, as for the DWTS contestant Zendaya, she's always dressed in modest costumes suitable for her age, and the dance routines she and Val perform aren't racy or sexy per-se. I was happy to see them get a perfect "30" on Monday.
