Yes, it is disturbing and fascinating, so is Taboo if you haven't seen that.
But, WHY don't the Sister Wives actually LIVE together? I can understand the polygamy thing, but i can't understand the separate homes thing. Why?

I've only seen it a few times, but I believe there was friction between the first three wives and the fourth. I was under the impression that they moved because the husband was going to be charged with polygamy, but I'm not sure. I can't imagine it's legal in any state. I guess once the friction with the new wife started, the other wives had to admit they weren't as happy about all the families sharing the same house as they originally thought they were. Hence, the separate houses. But I'm just guessing here.

You would think the above would be a good reason to get me to watch these shows but nope! Not even for those reasons. I just can't stand them. They are embarrassing. I wish I did like them because that's all that's on most of the time. Unless The Voice and X Factor are considered reality. I like those for the most part. Little Carly Rae is kicking some ass and I love Cassadee from the other show. I'm not even sure if I'm spelling their names right but you would know them if you heard them or watched these shows.

I haven't watched the Voice or X factor much. I think i am a bit burned out on singing competitions. I like DWTS, but i didn't want to see a celebrity edition of people who were already on there so i didn't watch that because the appeal for me is to watch someone who can't dance, truly learn to dance.

Same reason here. My husband likes many of them, however. I feel that watching others live their lives on TV (No matter how gross, etc)...Somehow means that I am not living mine to the fullest. I mean, here I would be watching someone living their lives while I sit! I dunno. I just don't find it interesting what others do in their lives. *shrugs*
However, I have no qualms with what others choose to watch...

If you don't like them you don't like them. I do. I would much rather see people in their real lives and real life situations, struggles and victories than watching a movie with Brad Pitt or whoever. I don't care for movies. I find most of them pretty canned and boring with the same old rehashed scripts. As for realities shows, i think they are also instructive and educational. My dd and i watched "Abby and Brittany" who are conjoined twins. And, you may feel that is exploitative but i don't. Years ago, they would have just been hidden away as freaks. Watching them go about their daily life and see their bright , vibrant personalities is very inspiring and hopeful and i also believe it gives us a sense of understanding about their condition as well as a sense of empathy and compassion for people like Hoarders who clearly often have mental health issues and so forth. It opens a window of understanding to me and us as human beings.

If you believe that most of these shows are 100% realistic, you're deluding yourself.
The shows are highly scripted, for the most part.
The creators/producers of these shows encourage/instruct the people to "act" more dramatic or exaggerate situations - in order to draw audience appeal/ratings.
It's not a true or realistic depiction of their everyday lives.

There is nothing real about reality TV...it is all scripted and edited to achieve the right outcome.
I like American Pickers and and those fat guys in Vegas that have the pawn shop. I also like Billy the exterminator.
Hoarders, after a few episodes I thought they were just taking advantage of people with mental illnesses, so I stopped watching.

Even House Hunters is scripted. Oftentimes, the houses the couples are paraded through aren't even for sale. There's nothing real about "reality" shows.

"Tu es speciale" means "you're weird" or "you're strange" in French. You're welcome.

I don't care. I love Reality TV. Abbey Lee Miller's Dance Competition is really heating up! ;D Heating up how? Certainly not the ratings scale. Nothing like an overweight drill-sergeant personality (Abbey)pushing little kids to the point of tears. Yeah - that's entertainment. (About as entertaining as the crazy-a$$ pushy moms on T&T. [Thank goodness I've only seen the commercials and haven't lowered myself to actually watching a full episode - of either]

Actually that IS entertainment. So because she is overweight she is not a good coach and knowledgeable about the what she is teaching?

That Show Bad Girls? or is it Mean Girls? I think that show is scripted. But I have no idea how we can know if a show is scripted - it's not like they are advertised? "This show is in front of a live studio audience"

Well, i mean who really cares if it is scripted or not? As long as it is entertaining, isn't that the point?

Did they "script" Honey Boo Boo's sister to have a baby with 6 fingers?

Duck Dynasty is the funniest one on. If you haven't caught it yet, do so. It's totally dumb but "Si" seriously cracks me up. Redneck Island is pretty funny, too.

I think it's on Wednesday night, Shoobs. I'm not sure. I just catch the reruns. I honestly don't know but I think the new ones come out on Wednesday. I can't even tell you what channel it's on. I laughed so hard the other night, I scared my dog.
