Cretinous, you're the only one complaining. Now, tell me ... why would anyone change a poll because one person complains? The other posters seem satisfied with things as they are, so to change it because just one poster has a problem with it? I wouldn't do it, either. Thanks mmhmm. I should also add that the poll options cannot be edited once the poll has been created. Didn't know that..you done good Virgil...Hope you don't mind but put a invite over at EE , told them poll closes three days...not sure if any have come over to vote.

No problem, virgil. Frankly, I'm sure Cretinous isn't the only one who has it in mind to vote for someone other than the Democratic or Republican candidate. Thing is, not everybody may have the same person in mind, so you'd have had to list every possible candidate. That's just ludicrous. Any candidate other than one of the "main two" is a third party candidate. That's just the way it is, and Cretinous needs to get over himself.

Technically I believe only three third party candidates, there are 13 total..are on enough ballots where they technically could get the 270 electorial votes to be POTUS. Many of the third party candidates are elieble on one or at most three states... Just found that out , another poster put up the link..had no idea so many were taking time to run..learn something new every day if we are lucky..

Thing is, Cretinous, we all have candidates we might prefer to other candidates. You're not the only poster on the board. The majority will probably choose one of the "big two". The rest of us will choose someone else, or choose not to vote. Those were the options offered; however, you felt you deserved special attention, apparently. That's not the case.

I watched a LOT of both conventions. Voted for where I am leaning. I am still leaning the same way I was before. However, I DO want to see at least the first debate. I will have to early vote as I am an election worker so not sure how many I will be able to see.

Looks close so far this AM, Monday.....surprised about the third party selection...I am wondering how many of those, eight so far I believe, would not vote for POTUS..not saying staying home , still plenty of others running for office, Congress plus possible questions of..would have picked one of the big two in real life...not the third party candidate.

I don't know if it's the same in the US, but in Canada, both a representative's name as well as the party he/she represents appear on the ballot. I would have included names for third party candidates, but there simply isn't enough room. For a question to "lead the answer", you're saying the poll is enticing participants to respond in a way that doesn't reflect their true views. The asymmetry might bias results by a fraction of a percent, which would be significant if millions of votes were being counted. We'll be lucky if we get 100 respondents for this poll. Ask yourself: do you truly believe that somebody who comes in here thinking "I'm going to vote for third party candidate X." is going to look at the poll and say, "Oh dear, my candidate isn't listed by name. What possible option can I choose?" If so, let's be glad these people aren't included in the poll. Come November, they'll be the same ones who wander off into the washroom while searching for the polling booths, figuring that pulling the flush handle for the urinal means they've cast their vote. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/thumbsup.png) so true, so true

I chose third party in the poll, but I'm planning to write in Ron Paul if possible. I've never written someone in before, so not sure how that's all going to work. If I can't figure it out on the day, I'll end up holding my nose and voting for GJ (Libertarian).

I'm pretty sure there is a spot on the ballot for a write in candidate. And if not, make your own space to write it in.

Those were the options offered... I would generally support a particular third party. But come presidential election time I will go with one of the "big two" who is closest to my preferences. I "wasted" a vote once before on a third party but I won't do that again in a presidential election. But I will work with the third party trying to get my preferred "big two" party more in line with them over time.

Now there I agree with you whole heatedly and things like that I believe are the pluses of the third party candidates..to influence other major parties... However, with all that said and done..problem is, useing PUBS for example...same would be true of Dems too if same scenario, to make whole sale change of a partys direction, past direction is just not cutting it, and especially if it was happening over a period of time, elections, vs a election, have to replace leadership of a party and thats the rub. To many times, leadership is more interested in keeping their Jobs, perks and idiology so will fight tooth and nail to stay the course instead of admitting their way was/ is the wrong way for the current times.. it was correct at one time, thats why they are the partys leaders, in position theya re in..but times change

Since half the population is forever convinced the other half doesnt know what they are doing when voting, and given the apparent inability of anyone elected actually getting things done (like maybe a budget) Why dont we all just stay home and open it up to our neighbors up north (Canada) to elect who will represent us. Then if it doesn't work we wont have to blame our neighbors here...we can point fingers at our northern friends and claim "they, them. those guys" did it to us ;D

Wow, 5 ineligibles so far out of 78 votes. That's almost 6.5% of the respondents. I'm shocked it's that high.
