DI.....you are a saint.....ty for keeping track. CAT is paying on the 19th of Feb and WAG on the 12th of Mar. So far those are my only dividend stocks that I have found pay dates for. 1000 shares for CAT and 2000 for WAG.

Sorry, I just had to post this. Might be the only time this year I'm doing this well. My dividends are worth a bit since most of my stocks pay a dividend, and I should have about $25k in KHDHF that's not showing.

Yeah I'm showing off As you should too! I haven't actually sold a stock yet in this game. I added substantially to TTT on the dip, but that's the last move I made. This portfolio is similar to my real portfolio in that TTT is the 300 pound gorilla, along with healthy positions in ENH, FRFHF, and KHDHF. However, I hold some stocks in this portfolio that I like, but don't hold personally. For instance, CHK, L, and CNA. I do have some PM in my personal portfolio, but at this point it's only a 1.5% position. I'd like to add more but right now I'm working on the debt and cash sides of the balance sheet.

wxyz,
This portfolio probably has about 60% overlap with my real life portfolio. I'm investing it like I would a $2 million equity portfolio. Sure wish I had access to that much money. This sort of thing shows the beauty of running a hedge fund. If you could get 2 and 20 on 2 million I could probably double my net worth every year for a long time even with 12-15% equity returns.
Too bad I don't know anyone with money to run for 2/20 ;(
Agreed about PM. Think MO and PM are both great companies, but PM certainly seems to have less economic headwinds. Normally I hate the idea of investing in a company that's leveraged to have little tangible equity, but PM earns an insane ROE and is a continuation of the most successful business of the last 50 years.
The market cap is already high, but if earnings go to dividends and share buybacks I think this could be the ideal long term inflation hedge (PM earns an obscene ROE of around 130% last time I checked...the company is very profitable and the product is addictive. I think inflation will increase revenue much more than the cost of doing business and PM should do great.)
The nice thing about PM as an inflation hedge is that it doesn't rely on a commodity investment that would likely perform poorly in a falling market. PM is non-cyclical, wide moat, and pays a large dividend, all of which are defense qualities in a falling market.
I would definitely consider making this my #2 position if I had a lot more capital to invest. Fortunately this stock lends itself to buying over time.

DI,
It wasn't a $25k cash dividend. What happened was that Dec 31 was the X-date, and TTT paid out 1/10th of a share of KHDHF.PK for each share of TTT. At the time of the X-Div I had 23,530 shares of TTT in the game, so my results should have another position of 2,353 shares of KHDHF.PK. The prices are estimate and based on the current market price.
Instead of keeping track of it, at the end of the game I'll just add the value of 2,353 shares of KHDHF (at the closing of the game.)
I've had some cash dividends too, but nothing too big and it's a lot of work to keep up with it. (Which is why you've been called a saint for doing this not only for yourself, but everyone else too!)

wxyz,
Decided to look through my personal portfolio to see if I could find a way to add to my position in PM. I decided to sell off the rest of my BUD position (made a nice profit for fairly short hold time and sold half at a higher price.)
Not willing to sell TTT or ENH. I'd like to buy more of both of these. I'm way over invested (% allocation-wise) in TTT, and yet the position is only about 1/4 as big as I'd like. This is just because I don't have enough capital, and I've got a million things to spend it on.
Still, perhaps I can do some shuffling and get at least $5,000 in PM (which sounds like nothing, but TTT is my only position in the 5 figures even.)

Thank you. I feel it's coming to an end. If I didn't want to see how this would turn out I'd be tempted to start taking some profits here and moving back to cash. It's nice to say that my personal portfolio is doing about the same, although sadly nowhere near $2 million in size ;(

A short term quirk. I fully expect my large position (TTT) to pullback next week. Longer term I think it's going to be worth quite a bit more than the current share price, but in the short term it seems overbought.
I'm staying long in all my accounts and will manage this portfolio like it's a longer term portfolio (rather than being a 1 year game.)
Honestly I realized on Friday that if I were to play this for the game I'd probably have taken a lot of profit on Friday and saved cash until I found another good short term opportunity.
My goal is to earn long term (40+ year) returns > 15% annually. If I can earn long term returns like this then I should be able to achieve my financial goals in time. A huge part of this is going to hinge on managing downturns in the stock market.
I don't like selling on the way down. I think I can hold some of my positions through a downturn and recover in the long term, but I need the ability to invest meaningful amounts when I have the best opportunities (i.e. after the market drops 40%.) I may have to revisit the idea of hedging, holding more cash, or investing in some securities that should be exceptionally recession resistant.

Sold most of my KHDHF.PK. I'm going to hold onto the phantom distribution of KHDHF until the end of the game.
BTW wxyz I bought 40 shares of PM in my ROTH IRA today after selling some small positions. I own a tad bit of MO too. I'd like to get to the point where I have about 20% of the portfolio (at this point about $9,000) invested between PM/MO. There's a european subsidiary of PM that pays a really nice dividend right now, but I think it's only traded on european exchanges.

I'm upset, because I want to see wxyz stay in the game. I appreciate your long term approach, and would like to watch your investment moves.
This game is always off, but at least it provides something even if constant adjustments are required. In this game my returns are understated by between 1-2% for dividends (the KHDHF.PK spinoff is the main difference), but last year my return was way overstated.
Perhaps someone could find a better platform for a long term contest (and I like the idea of a multi-year contest personally, but only if it's accurate.)
