12/03/10 02:42 PM Ok, Folks have asked for another LTG. Here is what you need to know to if you want to participate. It is listed as a Private Game at the VSE.
Game Will Close to New Entries On the last Day Of January, 2011.

NOTE: The VSE seems to think that Mutual Funds Are ETF's as such it prices and Trades them as such. This Has and can lead to erroneous Results. AS A RESULT WE ASK THAT YOU DO NOT TRADE MUTUAL FUNDS WITH IN THIS GAME. While This may inconvenience some Players, the request is for Fairness to those players whom Do not use Mutual funds, or whom may try to use them and Catch a bad Trade.
IF You are a player whom has a Mutie We ask that in the Interest of Fairness that you Place a Sell Order and Clear the Mutie Out of your Portfolio. You Do not need to adjust for the gain, as this was Unforseeable, it is my opinion that the Gain can (and should) stand.

Here are the Details -
Trade Volume - 100% -- Commissions -$2.95 -- Min. Trade Price - $2.00 - Maximum Trade Price - NONE -- Margin - No -- Short Selling - No -- Credit Interest Rate - 4% .
Starting Cash Per Player - $2,000,000.00.

I have hear the arguments over the Trade volume many times, but Brokerages Don't limit you, so neither will the game. I am not going to change this. Short selling is still disallowed, as newer Investors (and some longer term investors) aren't really sure how and when to implement and execute this strategy. Blowing someone out of the game over a "oopsie", wouldn't really be fair (and it wouldn't be helpful). The $2.00 Trade Price is to try and address the VSE's apparent Problem at properly accounting for Securities under this threshold, not a snub at certain Folks.
I setup a Multi Page Spreadsheet using EXCEL, to help us in the tracking of the game. The Spreadsheet is mostly to help track Dividends, "true Cash", etc.
In Order for it to work best I need some help From you guys.
1) If You have something Going X-Date (dividend) Please Make note of the Symbol and # of Shares
here - I will do the math Via the Current Divi and current shares held at VSE.
2) Since, I am going to Count Dividends from the X-Date, IF The VSE actually Credits the Dividend, PLEASE make not of the Symbol and Amount credited Here. This way I can make the appropriate adjustment within the spreadsheet.
Our Current MC, will continue to post the "face" (what VSE shows) results as he sees fit.
This choice and Request is an effort to compensate for adjustments that have been made (and may be made due to "Issues" with the VSE system) and to try to be as "true" as we can, to potentially 'Actual" results.
Each Player has their own Sheet with in the Spreadsheet, hence my requests that players make the Notes requested.

Bought 5,000, FTI
Bought 5000, NOG

Got to clear one that have dropped screen and cut back on others to raise cash for some new ones. The trades don't show up right away, so I lost track of how much money I've raised through sales. So I guess I have to wait until tomorrow to do the adds.
ANH sold all (70,000)
NLY sold about half (13,500)
PTNR sold about half (12,000)
MFA sold about half (31,000)
I thought the trades would show up right after I placed them, but they now show as "pending". I assume that means the money raised can't yet be used to take on the new tickers.

yclept, go to your portfolio and then click your transations, if it has cleared your orders it will be posted there.

You wont be able to buy anything unless you have enough cash, so you can't build your cash untill your sells go through.

I looked again.
Right now the orders show as pending in the "orders" section. They don't show in "transactions" yet (at least not on my screen). I'll just wait 'till tomorrow as I've got real positions to watch and shouldn't devote too much time to managing these paper transactions. I'm intending my port to follow some longer term high dividend stocks -- though I'd obviously like to spend enough time to crawl out of the basement!

If you have market ordres, it takes up to 20 minites to go through. Limit orders take longer.

They were market orders. It's been over an hour and they still show as pending. If they were my broker I'd fire them and have a new broker clawing the positions and money out of the accounts. Since it's a game, it matters not!

Well my returns are already misstated on the new game.

TTT went X-div a couple days ago for a dividend of 1/10th of a share of KHDHF for every share of TTT. I highly doubt that VSE is going to show the correct results here, but at this point KHDHF is trading for $9 per share. That means TTT is worth the current price of $7.84 + $0.90 = $8.74 per share. So right now my returns are understated by $21,176 or 2,353 shares of KHDHF.PK.
