Oh? Which one believes in me? Brahma? Kali? Ganesh? Shiva? Ram? Bastet? Osiris? Isis? Anubis? Abassi? Kwoth? Ikenga? All of them? Or just the Judeo-Christian God? There are thousands. Why should I think only your particular god believes in me? Your choice.

I don't believe in deathbed prayers to be accepted by God at any cost. Imagine a criminal or a serial killer committing crimes throughout all their life but upon the nearing and fearing of death wishes to be forgiven and so they are sincere about it, they are forgiven... I think that's cheating in one way or another. What happened to justice or humanity?
Imagine Hitler being sincere on his deathbed too and prays to God to be forgiven - and he is forgiven and that he'll be entering Heaven. Mind boggling notion.

It is, however, a grusome thought. I bet Hitler didn't have time for that, he needed to crunch down on that pill real quick.

MMMH:
Board Rules
1. NO personal attacks. Under no circumstances will you flame another poster for having a different viewpoint from you.
I'm interested in knowing if this includes no smiley faces that show the crazy sign because of an opinion from a poster? It was rather degrading. How does the poster who put that smiley icon in her post know that I'm a stable personality and can handle the put down? And where did she find it? I don't see it on the list. Thankfully, I am stable and chalk the poster up to being uninteresting and uneducated. I would be interested in an answer to this question. Thank you.

Was he not a Christian? Yes, the thought is gruesome which makes me mad that how can anyone pray and have their sins forgiven at the last call?

It is very unlikely that someone is going to live their life in an evil way and then suddenly be able to turn on a dime at the last second of their life. First, most people don't know when they are going to die. Most people aren't aware that today they are eating breakfast and by the afternoon, they will be meeting their Maker. A true conversion and true changing of one's heart and surrendering to God are what is required. So, as a strategy of sorts, that isn't very likely to succeed.

So, it's highly likely that he prayed to his God to forgive him for his sins - if and only if he was a devout Christian. 2. Upon one's deathbed, believing people do pray for forgiveness.

How do you know what is in someone's mind in their last seconds? You don't.

One only need to look at the Cross and see that one asked for forgiveness and one was still unrepentent. And, even at the last call, the one thief was forgiven.

SHOOBY: Great example. Isn't there a scripture that says (paraphrased) '...The first shall be last and the last shall be first'? Perhaps this refers to this forgiveness thing as well as other life experiences.

If you believe in a Just God, then you believe that God will make all things right in the realm of eternity and that Hitler will indeed receive his just desserts.

If you believe in a Just God, then you believe that God will make all things right in the realm of eternity and that Hitler will indeed receive his just desserts. I believe in the God of 'Yin and Yang'. If He can shower love and blessings then He too can shower pain and hurt. I want my God to be Just but if He can readily forgive evil people like Hitler and just because they pray for forgiveness then what about those countless of lives lost due to them?

I can ask you the same question about your God of Yin and Yang.

I choose the FSM. I've been touched by His noodly appendage. Thought you'd been in a good mood lately Isn't there a scripture that says (paraphrased) '...The first shall be last and the last shall be first'? Perhaps this refers to this forgiveness thing as well as other life experiences. Umm... Bob Dylan, I think - "The Times They Are A-Changing". "The line it is drawn The curse it is cast The slow one now Will later be fast As the present now Will later be past The order is Rapidly fadin'. And the first one now Will later be last For the times they are a-changing" Tune! I can ask you the same question about your God of Yin and Yang. Waste of time. Seems to be a lack of depth to the poster's understanding of the philosophy behind Yin & Yang and so very little sense is likely to be brought forth from a belief in it.

Is that an indirect personal insult at me? A juvenile attempt by someone who doesn't know what I am putting forth.
Go troll someone else.

Now INNER, your impatience is showing. I would be interested in the god of Yin and Yang. Even if it's to understand other cultures, I respect the knowledge. After all, someone convinced me that Feng Shue works (and it does). I think there are multiple ways to bring peace in our lives.
So, if ROSE has an inking to expand on her explanation, I am interested.

Don't think it's an insult, just a statement of fact. Your "yin and yang" sounds like the typical westernized misinterpretation of the concept.

I don't believe in an all loving and forgiving Christian God. If the Christian God can show love then He too can show anger. I used the expression quite freely and boy oh boy - God shows a spilt personality in my opinion. Don't think it's an insult, just a statement of fact. Your "yin and yang" sounds like the typical westernized misinterpretation of the concept. Or opinion at most.

No, it's not an insult, indeed, it's an observation. Presume it's the pride of ego that construes such an observation as insulting; others, perhaps less afflicted with vanity, might seek instead to develop their understanding before responding further. To this end; the overarching idea encapsulated by "Yin & Yang" is to transcend and so resolve dichotomies such as Good & Bad... not preserve them.

You highlighted something and then went straight to ignoring it.. in Yin/Yang Good and Evil don't exist.
Plus, that whole "one god" thing is the absolute height of arrogance.
