Dancin- I've used toothpaste that was at least 2 years past the expiration date and it was fine. It was the little samples you get free from the dentist; I didn't realize it was so outdated until I finished a tube and then proceeded to use a few more. I had it kept in a dark closet.

Re expiration dates: I think it's okay on the dental stuff: toothpaste and mouthwash. Since I don't get many inserts these day, my stockpile of this stuff isn't as large as many other folks. It will take around 1 year for us to go through what I bought yesterday.

Okay, here's a non-hounding question. I have to bring dessert to a dinner party on Tuesday night. Any easy, delicious recipes out there?

What would you like to bring. I have a killer recipe for a cobbler that uses canned pie filling or homemade pie filling, but it's more of a bbq type of dessert as opposed to a "dinner party" type of dessert.

Dancin, if you, or anyone else wants me to send some oral care books, let me know. The coupons are good until like Oct. My stores have had them out by the hundreds, literally. I grab a stack every time I go in. The store today had them stacked up on an end cap on shelves with product, which was a little strange. Keep looking if you haven't found them yet... constanz: Thanks so much for the offer. Obviously, it's too late for this time, but if a deal comes up again where they would be used, I'd appreciate it if you send me some. Let me know if you need my addie. ETA: Would you have to send the WHOLE book? I'd hate for you to spend the postage. If there aren't TOO many Qs, maybe you could PM me with what's available and I could let you know what I might use. I sent 2 this morning

We were down to our last bottle of mouth rinse so I decided to bite the bullet and get back into the RA deal game. I bought: 1 Crest Pro Health (the purple one--large size) $5 1 Crest Whitening (smaller white bottle) $5 2 Revlon emory boards 1.87 (B1G1 50% off) Used P&G (Aug. B1G1F q for Crest) Total with tax was $7.26 Got $10 EB back Then with my DH's card I bought: 2 Crest like above Used $4 Revlon UP Paid $1.21 Received 2/$3 UPs So now I have some mouth rinse and $12 in UPs. Dancin: They had the same booklet at my RA--nothing with any q's. Constanz: If it isn't a bother, I'll take some of those booklet q's if another deal comes along. I don't mind sending them, but they are a bit heavy. I can send 2, like I did to dancin'. If you want more than that, I can send them, I'd just ask for some stamps in return. Let me know...thanks!

Okay, here's a non-hounding question. I have to bring dessert to a dinner party on Tuesday night. Any easy, delicious recipes out there? if it isn't fancy, an easy fave of mine is graham crackers halved with a little frosting made into a sandwich. this is particularly good to use up left over frosting. another easy one is to add bananas to chocolate pudding.

Murpath: I have an oreo ice cream dessert recipe that you can make ahead and keep in the freezer. It's delicious. PM me if you'd like the recipe. I actually made it this week and divided it in two. I'm saving the second one for another occasion.

I haven't made it yet, but someone here posted a recipe for s'mores brownies that sounded awesome! I was going to make it for my reunion last weekend but ended up not going. It is listed toward the end of last months thread and was from all recipes.com too.

Okay, you guys, so far hinil has experimented and found that toothpaste is still good for up to two years past the expiration date.
Do I hear 3?

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm going to make an apple cobbler using some apples from my tree. We can't bring anything frozen because we'll be going into San Francisco (32 miles away). The cobbler will make the trip okay. I'm excited because we'll be meeting my nephew's new baby girl! Constanz22: If there's another killer deal for mouthwash, I'll exchange some stamps for a few of those booklets. Q's are good until 9/30/12, right?

Question: Do you think that Crest rinse lasts indefinitely? I have several bottles approaching expiration (must have been a killer deal at CVS) and I am thinking that they'll still be "good" for months or years to come. Obviously this is a YMMV situation, but for me Crest rinse is never good, whether it's expired or not. It turns my teeth brown around the edges. Apparently it's a fairly common problem; they even put a warning on the label. It's a shame because I think the crest deals are better than other brands for the last couple of years, but I will be buying listerine from here on out On the plus side, I managed to find three copies of tomorrow's RP at the post office today, so I should be good to go for the CVS sales. I have a $5/15 beauty so I could really score a MM with the aussie/HE deal, but I'll probably work a bottle of tide into my transaction because I'm so low on laundry detergent.

Murpath Brownies are always a BIG mover as are chocolate chip cookies.
I was never very brand specific. However, since I became a 'hound' (back in the old msn days) I have found quite a few things I REALLY prefer Lady Speed Stick gel Crest pro-health TP Listerine Cherrios Raisin Bran (kelloggs or Post) Cascade for the dishwasher Ken's salad dressing
Still NOT fussy about frozen veggies, canned veggies, dry or can beans, milk, cheese, whip topping, panc mix, ketchup, mustard, olives, vinegar, cooking oils, tomato sauce, canned tomatoes.............
Notice the difference: personal care vs. food. MANY food items are regulated to minimum standards so most any brand or even generic will be fine.

So, for the past several weeks NONE of our local papers are carrying the smart source inserts! It is very frustrating! I was even going to break down and buy the $3 paper today but THAT only had a red plum. There were 2 smart source and a red plum scheduled today. Not sure what the deal is but it makes it very difficult...

If anyone goes to CVS this AM, can you let me know how long the $5/15 cosmetics CRT from the red machine is good for? I'm hoping at least a week and not 3 days because I'd like to use it next week...

Emhalf, I went this morning. The $5/$15 expires 8-8. HTH. There are some things we are brand specific on. One is Osteo Bi-flex. Sierra had surgery on both her back legs a few years ago. (ACL's) and the vet suggested it. So, today CVS had B1G1 Osteo Bi-Flex. (Yikes, $39.99 for the 120 count). My transaction was: 2 Osteo @ $39.99 2 MM @ $5.00 1 MM salty snack 1 Hershey syrup (we were out) 1 MM bowl Used: 2 $3.00 off Osteo coupons 2 $6.00 off 120 count Osteo CVS coupons (from a couple of weeks ago) 1 Free salty mix wyb 2 MM (They credited me $3.49 but price was $2.50 on the mix) $5.00 EB. The MM bowl was free w/MM purchase total $28.79 plus tax. Sierra is now stocked. I also went to a few Wags for the Carmex lotion (the coupons dot com coupon for $1.00 off rang up correctly). Got $4.00 RR back on each. Also picked up four packs of Bic pens for free... On Non brand specific, today I stopped at Jewel/Albertsons for a few items. I was able to pick up Libby's canned veggies using their sale and a store cat and a coupons dot com coupon for .25/can. They were also running a sale on frozen veggies at $1.00 a bag. (store brand) Not free, but worth picking up some.

Dancinmama asked: murphath: Weren't you pulling from unsold papers from a retailer or am I confusing you with someone else? |
No, I used to get several sets from my former job: 1 set from the Chronicle from a Co-worker and 2 from the papers delivered to the college. When I retired, I followed your lead and went and asked at two of our local liquor stores and the CVS: no go at all three, but at least I tried. Now I get one set from the Contra Costa Times---not the best and sometimes from a neighbor who has an online subscription but gets the Sunday inserts. She's not interested in using the q's. That's hit or miss though.

CALLING ALL RITE AID EXPERTS. I NEED HELP!! I was doing the Buy $20/Get a $5 UP on Ziplocs and Planters which are on sale BOGO. Transaction #1$11.98 (4) Planters @ $5.99 and BOGO ....4.39 (2) Ziploc Gallon Freezer @ $4.39 and BOGO ....3.89 (2) Ziploc Snack Bags @ $4.39 and BOGO $20.26 .......61 Sales Tax $20.87 Subtotal -15.00 (3) $5UPs -..2.00 (2) $1/2 Ziploc -..3.00 (3) $1/1 Planters $....87 OOP --> $5.00 UP (doesn't expire until 9/19) YEAH!! At this point I was thinking that my trip was going to go slick as snot. Transaction #2 (Same card cuz the limit is 2) $11.98 (4) Planters @ $5.99 and BOGO ....4.49 (2) Ziploc Sandwich Bags @ $4.49 and BOGO ....4.39 (2) Ziploc Gallon Freezer @ 4.39 and BOGO $20.86 <-- See I have $20 worth of product. ......74 Sales Tax $21.60 Subtotal -15.00 (3) $5UPs -..2.00 (2) $1/2 Ziploc -..3.00 (3) $1/1 Planters $..1.60 OOP --> NO UP PRINTEDThe bottom of my receipt says $20 GENERAL MILLS $5+UP total $ 16.63 Okay, the $16.63 equals $.26 from Transaction #1 and $5.99, $5.99, and $4.39 from Transaction #2, so the system must not have recognized the Ziploc Sandwich Bags that were $4.49 and BOGO as part of the deal. It is interesting because they weren't tagged for the UP, but I had the cashier scan them and they scanned at BOGO so I just thought that they didn't get that item tagged. Does this mean that if I go in and buy $3.37 of something else that is part of the deal, I will get the $5UP? Or should I call CS tomorrow and argue the case hoping that they'll load the $5 UP to my card? I love these UPs because they don't expire until until 9/19/12 which means this must be tied into a deal that goes to 9/05/12? Does that sound right to you RA experts? Now to figure out what it is. I'm sooooo confused. Why is Rite Aid sooooo hard for me? I'm beginning to think I am carrying a RA curse.

Did SD say all sandwich bags or just the 100 count cuz the 50 count is what is pictured in the ad. Unfortunately, once again the problems at the register and lack of stock at Rite Aid are reminding me of why I stopped shopping there. The deals have been absolutely AWESOME, but the lack of stock and the problems during execution will probably cause me to hang it up again....until another deal like the GC deal comes up, that is.

If you are holding excess Ups and want to convert some to cash, a good deal this week is the "Gracious Living" accessory tubs. They had them in blue and green here. They are a little smaller than shoebox size and are in the seasonal aisles. They are 2.99 but 25% off this week. There is a $5 SCR when you buy 2, limit 3 deals. So, it's even a slight money maker.

Dancin: I believe it was the 100 count sandwich bags that did not count. With a deal like this BOGOF, there isn't enough stock to go around if you want to hit the $20.00 total to get the UPS. In the past, I have bought paper plates in a size that I did not want, but it was all they had to complete the deal. When they got their shelves filled, I exchanged it for the size I wanted. It's a hassle, but you may as well get the product you want.

Wow, those gals are REALLY mean. I don't know what the heck the gal they were talking about did to them, but they were calling her some REALLY BAD names. I was quite shocked. ETA: I went back and re-read the SD thread and it was a guy that was making the rude comments. I guess he got schooled by one of the gals on WUC and he didn't like it.

If anyone got coupons for Mentos gum and you won't be using them, I'd appreciate them. They're on sale at Rite Aid this week and I'd like to stock up. TIA. I had planned on doing this deal and no Qs here in NorCal (not in the metro inserts or the major metro inserts). Oh well, I've got gum. ;D
