azmom - sorry to hear about your friend. I'm sure she appreciates your wanting to be there for her.
startsmart - I saw your comment on June about genders. We aren't going to find out until they are born (although I'm pretty convinced it's one of each). You said something about voting - did you mean names? Those are fairly set, although we booted Carmelina as the second girls name and now it's Elianora. So Antonio and Leonardo, Madalena and Elianora. We'll see what pops out lol.

Okay, I had another weird brain glitch this evening that I thought I would share just for a laugh. A good friend posted this on her Facebook page: And here was my response ....... When the temperature’s high And the family is bored Then off they will fly And join a great horde
Of Acorns and Walnuts Pecans and Brazils All gathered together To watch Flying Squirrels
Bring water and sunscreen Your camera and cell phone Surrounded by other fans You won’t be alone
The benches are metal In the sun they’ve been baking So be careful when sitting Or visit to ER you will be making
Go cheer for the Squirrels Those cute little rodents ‘Cause those who love you best Already know that YOU’RE nuts !!!!

Rocky Mtn Saver: 1 NSD, 3 CSD (<$5). Thursday and Sunday were CSD's, so I got something out of the weekend. Friday I succombed to an invitation to breakfast out, and Saturday was a movie and dessert. I'm hoping for a NSD today. I'm all prepared hopefully -- I have work snacks, I brought lunch, and I even pre-purchased a stamp to mail something this afternoon. :-) Now I just have to NOT think of anything I need to pick up. Mrs.L: Congrats on the big life change!

5 NS/CS Not too bad. Yesterday was an NS but only because we were so busy running from place to place to spend any money.
My finger is feeling better. It is still sore but the swelling is gone and I can actually type with both hands. I was off Wed-Fri last week and we did a lot to get the house ready to put on the market.
Wow MrsL congrats! I already like you on FB. You will do wonderful and I love reading your blog.
Azmom- I hope that the PT starts to pay off for you soon.
Startsmart- Hugs about your grandpa. We just moved DH's grandpa from his home of 40 years, it is hard. DH is having a hard time letting go of the fact the house will be sold.

Wow, the first week of July kicked my butt, anyone else? So much happened that I can't even summarize in a short way. First, I'm officially handing the Captain Reins to Azmom - thanks for volunteering! Second, Grandpa is doing okay, he's settled into the convalescent hospital okay and today will get a new hydraulic lift chair delivered. When I'm back in town I'll be going by at least once a week to check in. His new place is half as far away (1/2 mile instead of a whole mile lol) Third, I finally finished painting my master bedroom ceiling! OMG, that project was started in February... once again when I'm home again I'll be prepping and priming the walls so I can finally paint. What else is going on? blue eyes is good, business is growing, I have zero free time outside of work and home projects, I need to go do my hair so I can record videos and Wilson is feeling better too. Whew, I think that's all - sorry I missed the shout outs this last week, everyone deserves a big woooohoooo and for surviving this last week.

Weekend wasn't too spendy. Dinner out on Saturday, but we ate leftovers last night. And did lots of vegging. Saturday was just so gross out, we watched an entire season of How I Met Your Mother. Perfect day, really.
And I made myself bring lunch today. Tummy still isn't too thrilled about pb & fluff sandwiches. But if I can do that a few times a week it'll save some money. I still prefer my crazy salads. Which are healthier, just pricier.

4/10 NSD I had PT this morning and my legs are screaming. They are so bruised up you would think I was abused! Today is a busy day. Will report back tomorrow for my Captain duties and to answer my own Question and Challenge of the week.

azmom: My mom recently did the PT route after her knee replacement, and she'd totally feel your pain! She got such bruises and had to rest the whole day after therapy. But she's doing great now, and she loves her physical therapists so much that I'm thinking of going to see if they can help me with a chronic back pain issue.

COTW: Instead of focusing on setbacks, write down or reflect on how far you have come since tracking your NSD/CSD? For me, it's all about the envelopes and cash only, baby! Each payday, I take my allotted spending money and divvy it into envelopes in small bills. I know exactly how much I have until next week, and if I spend something from the envelope now, I know what I have left to make do with. If I use my convenience card, my spending habits always get looser. Those greenbacks are very real and much harder to part with.

Rocky Mtn Saver: 2 NSD, 3 CSD (<$5). Today will either be a spend day or a CSD, we'll see which. I do need to renew an expiring software license this week, so that'll definitely be a spend day when I get around to that. ;D Not much else to report. It's finally cooler and a little wetter around here, which is awesome.

5 NS/CS Yesterday was a spend. We signed mini-D up for swim lessons and soccer yesterday. He is so excited about both of them. Swim lessons start next Monday and go 4 days a week for 2 weeks, then soccer is in August. The pool is indoor so that won't be too bad, but hopefully by the time soccer comes will be cooler then than it has been recently.

Still at 4/10 NSD. All of our kids are going to VBS this week and that leaves DH and I with 2.5 hours of free alone time (depending on what time he really gets off work) and we went out to grab a bite to eat and we probably will all week. It's coming out of our grocery budget since it only cost $30 to make the kids dinner all week at home. Either way it's money we both are willing to part with. We rarely get any alone time. MRS.LYNCH: YOU KNOW I AM BEYOND PROUD OF YOU. I AM SO EXCITED. YOU ARE SUCH AN INSPIRATION AND ARE GOING TO DO AMAZING THINGS! Honey: I you. You are just such an amazing women filled with such knowledge and incredible talent! Rocky: Thanks. That is reassuring. Right now I am just all over the place emotionally. One run will be so promising because my legs feel great and at a jogging pace I am flying. Then my next run I can barely move my legs and have to stop. Yesterday my legs hurt so bad. There are three patients at PT who just had knee replacements and I LOVE their attitudes and how hard they work and seemingly easy task. I suggest PT for your back. At first I was like I could do this at home...and then they started scrapping my legs (I have a love/hate relationship with this treatment) and I could feel all of the scar tissue being broken up. AND I am so proud you have your snacks planned for the week. The hardest part after you have everything planned is the mind games. Good Luck. RED: I am probably going to say this a few more times because I wish someone told me, please, please just remember to rest. You're life will forever be changed (for the better of course) when these babies come. I love that you are getting away with Blue before the babies are born. Mizbear: Thank You. Dakota: I hope it pays off soon too. Glad your finger is feeling better. SS: I hope to channel some of your motivation when the kids start school and get some projects done around here. We have to go out in this heat today. We have books due at the library and a few to pick up. I was hoping to take a few good reads with me on vacation next week but I'm number 68 in line for Gone Girl and 14 in line for Let's Pretend This Never Happened so that just leaves me with T o Kill A Mockingbird... SHEILA: If you are around. Do you have any suggestions of things to do with the kids in Palm Springs? and a cool place and/or restaurant to take my DD for her 5 yo birthday?

azmom - don't worry, Blue regularly calls me lazy haha. I put laundry away last night and called it a productive day. Usually I just lie on the couch and read or watch tv. And sleeping in on weekends is a must for me. So so far, so good! And luckily the weddings are over for the most part. One more in October but I'm not sure I'll be going, we'll have to see how I'm doing then. Blue is in that one, so he'll be going at least. The most exhausting thing is just the commute in and out, and I'm sitting for most of it. Thanks for your advice though! I hope that soon ALL your runs feel great!

Back from Vacation and will be setting my goal of 10 NSD. I have a real hard time with eating out. It seems I am always in town during the lunch hour and my 2 yr old LOVES McD. So I am going to allow myself to treat her two times this month but I am going to refrain. I might eat out on July 30th and 31st due to it being preplanning and as a teacher, those are the only days we ever get to go out and eat together. Also I have two days next week I will be at a conference and I will need to eat out.

We just got a notice that the complex we live in is going to be rehabbed and rents will be going up. I don't see it as a problem as long as we stick to a budget. DM flipped out because it means we must stick to a budget (mainly it means that she will have to pay off her credit card, start eating at home, etc). Personally, I think the higher rent is worth improvements- and being in federally subsidized housing, they are required to keep things to certain standards- but she is pitching a B****.
It may also send us up the waiting list for the 2 BR up quicker because people will not want to pay the higher rent.

Update: 4 NSD 4 CSD
Just a quick update. Have not been doing real well with NS days thus far but the spending has not been excessive. I have been doing my summer routine of personal maintenance -- making the round of doctor appointments for annual checkups. As a teacher most of these are scheduled during the summer. Today is another one of those but I am almost at the end of these. Unfortunately I am almost at the end of my summer break as well.
I have been getting quite a bit of housework and decluttering done. Also trying to rebuild my inventory of completed beading projects -- I have two craft shows in the fall and my completed projects were getting on the low side. We have been in our usual summertime weather pattern of 50% chance of rain each day which helps me to stay in and become creative.
Got to get moving as I have appointments this morning.

Rocky Mtn Saver: 2 NSD, 4 CSD (<$5). So far, this month is going pretty frugally, woo hoo! Camping next week might bring some added food expense, but that's to be expected. The county still has a fire ban in place, so we may have to skip the s'mores.

azmom- I am not very active but I do still skim from time to time Fun to do in PS- Um, there is a Children's Museum that's decent. Geared a little young so your younger daughter will have more fun than your older daughter. There is a Knott's Soak City Water Park that we loved. The Air Museum is pretty nice. If your DS and DH wanted to go to a Man Day I would recommend that. Not trying to be sexist just in the event they wanted to have a father/son outing. There is a small amusement park by the Trader Joe's in Cathedral City. If you want to get away from the heat you can drive up to Idyllwild. It's up the mountain from the desert. Touristy area-shops, hiking, scenic overlooks, etc. The Tram to the top of the mountain is Ok- hiking up there but otherwise not a lot else to do and kind of spendy. Not sure if you have been to Palm Springs before so I apologize if this is redundant. Basically the 111 comes into Palm Springs off of the 60 and becomes Palm Canyon. All the other cities are in a line and as you drive along Palm Canyon you are going from Palm Springs to Cathedral City to Palm Desert etc. It's all considered part of "Palm Springs" but the actual city of Palm Springs isn't very large. Restaurants- I like Ruby's it's a 50's style diner. Out by The River (Shopping center) there is a PF Changs, CheeseCake Factory, etc. A lot of the places in PS are single restaurants and not chains. I have never had a bad meal in Palm Springs. Warning- the people that work in the restaurants are very friendly and would frequently sit down with us and start visiting and carrying on a conversation with us. People in PS love to visit. It takes a little getting used to. If you rent a car and decide to hit the beach it's SUPER easy to get to Laguna. Basically you take the 60 to the 91 and follow that in to Orange County It's a little more complicated than that but not by much. It's about an hour to hour and a half depending on traffic. Took me 30 minutes to get from PS to my house and 35-50 minutes to get from my house to the beach. Traffic on the 91 going back toward Riverside (and on to Palm Springs) is a nightmare during rush hour. Just an FYI. If you have more questions you can PM me or send me a fb message or ask here and I will check from time to time. Jealous of your vacation- I really miss Palm Springs, next to San Diego that was my favorite place in CA.

OMG! OMG! OMG!
So this morning I was checking my blog stuff and what do I see? A link from The Simple Dollar! I don't know how it happened but holy crap, I am so lucky and blessed that it did.
If I ever needed affirmation that I did the right thing, this couldn't have come at a better time.
