I don't think that global warming is a hoax.....That it is man caused, is maybe debatable.
Organic farming will always have it's niche in farming, but is not a practical way to feed the planet.....Yields are simply not high enough.....But for people concerned with pesticide issues, it will always have a place

global warming is a hoax? ------------------ Yes, of course. Haven't you heard it's just a scam to put money in Al Gore's pocket?
Ignore the fact that it rains more than it snows in Canada during the winter now. Ignore the record-breaking fatal heat waves. Ignore the melting ice caps and Inuit villages slipping into the sea. Ignore the topsy-turvey global weather we've been seeing the past few years. Ignore the wild and extreme weather patterns all over the planet. Ignore the change on seed packets, saying you can now plant things further and further north. Ignore the magnolia trees in freaking Montreal. It's a hoax, dontcha know?

My husband is working in Borneo, they have almost stripped the jungles down there getting to coal it has sure changed the whole eco system. Look at the Amazon and what that is doing. Trees help keep the carbon dioxide cleaned from the air. The oceans are floating trash heaps now. No I'm sure man has nothing to do with global warming, do you also believe the earth is only about 3000 years old?

From fertilizer runoff causing algal blooms and fish suffocation, to the acidification of oceans to deforestation....WE are responsible. Mother Nature is pissed.

Pat, I read plenty about what is going on in the environment. The fact is that the whole global warming arguments is shifting, and fast. Mostly because of what CERN has discovered about how the sun affects our climate more that anything. The fact is that NASA, the people that have been major supporters of this whole global warming... thing, are now saying that these plankton blooms they have just found are the EARTH'S way of balancing out the increase in CO2; and new research suggested that the increased C02 production is actually increasing tree growth in the African Savanna. NASA: Increase in CO2 could indirectly lessen effects of global warming www.thebunsenburner.com/news/nasa-increase-in-co2-could-indirectly-lessen-effects-of-global-warming/Savannahs Soon To Be Covered By Forests CO2 Is Greening The Planet www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/47782There is also this guy who was at one point the biggest cheerleader for this whole global warming doomsday scenario. He has straight up admitted that he and Gore were and ARE wrong about how humans are affect the globe with CO2. Green ‘drivel’ exposed www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/sunnews/straighttalk/archives/2012/06/20120623-165934.htmlThere is also this.... Junk Science Week: Climate models fail reality test opinion.financialpost.com/2012/06/13/junk-science-week-climate-models-fail-reality-test/ Plus the fact is that there was a HUGE warming period during the Viking days... Global Warming Cash Cow in Peril www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/47285 I agree climate change is real. It's just that we aren't as important as we like to think we are. There are solutions for algae blooms in lakes (profitable ones) and the plastic islands in the oceans. I also agree that God is showing us that we can work in balance with each other and mother Earth.

Great thread, and yes the importance of SELF RELIANCE locally national and international.Even in cities, you can have community gardens. Jobless can maintain those gardens which becomes a job, while agriculture training is provided. There are many things other than local food that we all can do. Climate change is also seen throughout our solar system. Therefore it is a natural phenomenon. Of course we don't help matters.

A+++, I DID GRADUATE STUDIES AT ONE OF THE BEST AG-BASED UNIVERSITY IN THE USA...Tarleton University. I TOLD ONE OF MY PROFESSORS THAT HER CLASS CAME TO SCHOOL IN A MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF DUELS.
It is all about money and there is shortage of leaders and learners in the food industry. Just think of all that fun hunting Deer, esp. Mule Deer! Yes, it is all about economics. I have a friend that raises Scottish Red Dear. Kill a stag for $10,000. So how may worms can you buy for $10,000. Worminator likes deer poop!!! How much deer corn do you need to increase the buck to the best of the breed? So we can grow more worms then deer. Well a long way to the idea of this paragraph. Organic food is all about money. Yes, I know that food is more then just organic potatoes and organic garlic. Deer also like potato green's. Feeding the worms.

Bruce, I hear what you're saying. Both of us here have talked about moving onto some land. I like to run equipment too, not just shoot things. I think more people will understand that organics is about using nature in balance with science as we move forward. Got to love how the anti-carbon crowd is trying to explain the "polar vortex", eh? I would like to know how much 10k worth of worms is.... On that systemic issue, the socialized one size fits all system that came of age during the 20th century needs to give way to something similar to what goes on in Germany. A more skill orientated education system. Something like this could be easily implemented in the current system, so not to upset the social system that is in place with sports and so on...

global warming is a hoax? I plant a garden every spring here in Texas. I started about 10 years ago. I would try to put it out in Feb to get my cold weather crops in. In Feb it would freeze a few times, sometimes in March. About 5 years ago I started noticing that we might get a freeze in Feb. The last 3 years even putting it out in those early months isn't good enough it starts burning up in short order and its to warm for my lettuce and things to do well. I may have to start planting in Jan but sometimes rainfall keeps from doing that to wet. This spring was horrible, it got way to hot way to quick just like last year. Areas aren't getting enough snow melt for moisture, ice sheets are shrinking the ocean on the Atlanic area has already risen. Pat, did the Pacific ocean rise, or just the Atlantic?

Areas aren't getting enough snow melt for moisture, ice sheets are shrinking the ocean on the Atlanic area has already risen. Pat, did the Pacific ocean rise, or just the Atlantic? We planted a test deer plot in Kermit,TX in Nov-Dec 2013. Garlic did well but the cabbage did not have enough water. We also planted potatoes for the late spring growth. We added worms and lots of organic matter. We should see potatoes late March or early April. The idea was we needed to be ahead of the rain.
We also seeded alfalfa and bird seeds for the spring growth.. Yes, we will also seed in spring to see which works best. Both of these are eaten BY DEER.
As far as water. Pan water evaporation RATE has gone down over the last 20 years. Also low density farming with more organic material will be productive as the soil is not destroyed. Most if not all rain will be adsorbed and storied in the first 24 inch of the soil. Back to potatoes for deer. Feed the deer and worms by supporting bacteria growth for better composing. Also good for eating spilled oil. Worms, alfalfa and potatoes will improve the soil with massive dose of worm and deer poop.
Just a thought, Bruce

THE RANCH HAS SEVERAL GROUPS OF JAVELINS BUT WE CAN HUNT THEM IN SEASON. They eat more of the deer corn then the deer's eat. We have photos of them eating the corn but not the potatoes. With luck we will be able to clean out the javelins after we build a game fence.
At least we should have some night crawlers growing in the sorghum Peat Moss. With luck the bacteria will eat up most of the oil spill we are working on. The worms should act as the vector to actuate and spread this bacteria as well as bacteria for the alfalfa. Now growing in the pond are some catfish fingerlings.
Well we are going increase the organic material, again with more peat moss , worms and potatoes. We can see the result from the corn and potatoes.

ORGANIC POTATOES IN SAND HILLS ..
ORGANIC RUSSET STARTS PLANTED INTO OIL FIELD THAT HAS NEVER BEEN FARMED. ORGANIC PEAT MOSS WITH ORGAN WORMS FROM JIM'S WORM FARM. NIGHT CRAWLERS. ADD ASH FROM THE WOOD LOT. WATER BY GOD!! ADDED DROPPING FROM ORGANIC DEER.
RESULTS!! BEST Hungarian Goulash I: WITH GREAT TEXAS ORGANIC BEEF.
WHY THIS ABOUT POTATOES...ORGANIC IS HOT. PRODUCTS POTATO SELL FOR 35% MORE AND TAKE OFF THE TOPS BY DEERS..EAT LEAVE 30% MORE DROPPINGS GARLIC ABOUT 50% MORE ALFALFA ABOUT 15% MORE DEER . high protein food with high calcium WORMS..TO VALUABLE TO REMOVE MAKING MORE WORM POOP TO IMPROVE SOIL AND DIGEST OIL SPILLS. FUN AND RELAXING..PRICELESS . Cardiac rehab and great garlic potatoes. BBQ deer or hogs..
Just a thought, Bruce
PS: THE SYSTEM WORKS IN HOLES IN THE TARMACK THAT ARE ONLY 2x2 WITH DRAINAGE FROM 10x10. WATER EFFECTIVE IS ABOUT 400% OF RAIN. JUST A TEST.

I never found Texas beef I liked.
We are back in Indiana and I'm buying from a local farmer that sells only at Farmers market, his meat is awesome. I get pork, beef, and some chicken. But the chicken is outrageously expensive. Pat
I Never had a problem with Texas ORGANIC Angus Grass feed Prime grade. I take mine very rare. Bought from the Brown ranch north of Abilene, TX. Every steer has its own ID number and is tracked. They know the bull and cow. Every one is graded.

From fertilizer runoff causing algal blooms and fish suffocation, to the acidification of oceans to deforestation....WE are responsible. Mother Nature is pissed. SO FREAKING FISH IN THE POND..the BABY CATFISH ARE DOING WELL, WHEN MY SON RECALLS FEEDING THEM. WORMS ARE DOING WELL FEED WITH BULL SHIT AND PEAT MOSS. RAIN, INCH OF RAIN WILL NEVER RUN OFF AS ALL THE WATER RUNS DOWN TO THE POND OR PITS WHERE THE GARLIC AND POTATOES GROWS ON THE BANKS. DEER ALSO LIKE THE PONDS AND DRINK FROM THEM. SO WHERE IS THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM MUST BE THE DUCKS ZND EGGS ON THE DAWN. pH FOR THE WATER IS ABOUT 9.0. ACID NO ALKALI AND THE LAND IS SET ON SAND THAT RECHARGES THE UNDER GROUND LAKES UNDER THE HIGH PLAINS. SENSITIVE RECHARGE AREA AND IN TEXAS WE NEVER WASTE WATER. DRINK TEXAS WINE. I BOUGHT MY FIRST ISRAEL DRIP SYSTEM IN 1974 FOR MY SAUL VON WASSWEILER VINEYARD. MY PN 667 ARE WORLD KNOWN. MAKES A GREAT BUBBLY WINE I CALL TEXAS 44 MAGNUM. WE HOPE FOR A BLOOM OF B.BRAUNII RACE B. TO MAKE PETROLEUM OIL. GREAT BATH OIL IF I CAN MAKE ENOUGH. My TAMU agent tells me i need to apply for having organic grapes, golden and russet potatoes, garlic and worms. DID I SAY WOOD LOT!..THINK BBQ AND HOT FIRES IN THE HOME. Just a thought, Bruce

Pat, We have lots of future energy from WIND. I also think THORIUM energy will be the future for power. Now for the damage done with 150 years of coal!! NG is safer because there is no heavy metals in pipeline gas. We burn off more gas then is used. Water is more valuable then oil in Texas. The water we use is 500+/_ 100 feet under the surface water reserves KNOW AS OGALLALA AQUIFER (550- feet from surface). THE WATER IS OVER 1,000 YEARS OIL AND 100% PURE. TESTED PERFECT LAST MONTH. B OTH WATERS ARE GOOD. We do not use chemicals on the ranch and the air is clean. My test plots for potatoes and garlic are 100% Organic as was the seed plants. Bruce The Ogallala Aquifer is a shallow water table aquifer located beneath the Great Plains in the United States. One of the world's largest aquifers, it underlies an area of approximately 174,000 mi² (450,000 km²) in portions of eight states: (South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas). It was named in 1898 by N.H. Darton from its type locality near the town of Ogallala, Nebraska. The aquifer is part of the High Plains Aquifer System, and rests on the Ogallala Formation, which is the principal geologic unit underlying 80% of the High Plains.[1] About 27 percent of the irrigated land in the United States overlies the aquifer, which yields about 30 percent of the ground water used for irrigation in the United States. Since 1950, agricultural irrigation has reduced the saturated volume of the aquifer by an estimated 9%. Depletion is accelerating, with 2% lost between 2001 and 2009[2] alone. Certain aquifer zones are now empty; these areas will take over 100,000 years to replenish naturally through rainfall. The aquifer system supplies drinking water to 82 percent of the 2.3 million people (1990 census) who live within the boundaries of the High Plains study area.[3]

A+++, I AM NOT SURE BUT MY WORMS ARE KEEPING UNDERGROUND. I UNDERSTAND L. TERRESTRIS LIKES TREE ROOTS AND LEAF LITTER. JUST THINK OF ONE BILLION WORMS EATING UP ALL THAT ALFALFA AND FEEDING ALL THOSE DEERS. LET THE DEER DROPPING FALL WHERE THEY MAY. BET THE WORMS WILL EAT THEM UP AND MAKE TONS OF COMPOSE.
NOW FOR THE REAL MEANING OF ORGANIC COMPOSING TO IMPROVE INCOME PER ACRE. YES, DIVERSIFIED INCOME FROM ALL THIS B.S.. SO WE SILL ADD E.HORTENSIS FOR BIO DIVERSIFATION AND MORE COMPOSING POWER. JUST LOOK AT THE PRICE OF 1 GALLON ON WORM TEA. ALSO 1,000 L.TERRESTRIS GO FOR $95 + $65 TO SHIP FROM CANADA. NOW WHEN IT COME TO DEER SEASON, MULE DEER ARE LARGER THEN WHITE TAIL. YOU GIRLS KNOW DEAR, SIZE MATERS. ERIC AND I SAW TWO LARGE DOES AND A SMALL BUCK ON THE DEER PLOT LAST MONTH. DEER ALSO LIKE EATING THE POTATO TOPS.
SO WE WILL HAVE A GREAT PICTURE FOR THE DRONES TO WATCH THE DEER AND WORMS PLAY, SOUNDS LIKE SELF INCREASING REINFORCING CYCLE TO ME.WORMS EAT THE D.S. AND MAKE WORM TEA THAT FEEDS THE ALFALFA. THE ALFALFA GROWS FASTER AND THE DEER EAT THE NEW STRONGER HIGH PROTEIN ALFALFA AND CONVERT THE BIO-MASS BACK INTO D.S..
SO HOW MUCH IS A BILLION WORMS WORTH AT $95/M? B

B, I would say that with the need for all of Europe to secure a better energy source, a billion worms might almost be worth a 500k investment into 180 acres of prime Canadian farm land, some of it unbroken. I'll bet the worms would luv all that water. Worms for American Restoration and drones to save on shipping? God bless,

Interesting events could be seen as the underground development produces better production. Think about the wood lot and alfalfa honey. I can not raise seed because of the farmer North West to the plot: has Waterman 205 Alfalfa and we have a older dry crop alfalfa. L. Terrestris will eat up all the leaf litter free. Alfalfa seed sells for $5.00/lbs. and if you are 5 miles from any other field the seed can be certified. A&L 101 Superior land reformation hybrid. We can sell high protein deer cubs after that.
