WORMS AND LEAF LITTER: REDUCTION ON OIL IN THE SOIL.
At our Ranch we have been winning the battle to reduce oil in the sand with worms and corn meal. First I dug a shaft from the tarmac to about 5 ft deep: fill it to the top with leaf litter and paper slury. Then I put a barn red wood riser and fill the tip with peat moss. I then add two kinds of worms. The deep worm E. Hortensis and top worm E., Fetida ( this is the old spelling: now has an "O" added). I feed them huge dose of my worm meal and lots of fresh ater.
After 12 months of resting and water collections by my { Sensitive Water Developed Recharge System} we add Alfalfa plants that have been inoculated with the correct bacteria. Deer love high protein. Free food forever!!
Just a thought, Bruce

the , That seems like the best way to regenerate large amounts of tarmac sands and oil dirt - that's the $$$$. Like you always talk about though, need to have the product. So, you guys gotta get your hands on some good clean dirt so you can get the cash flow going and increase your supply of usable dirt.. soil remediation Regina Sk That place is closer to Vernon, not Kermit, sorry. At 1420 an acre for a brand and full operation - if you can swing it - makes the around 800 acres of fill that i will have look like a drop in the bucket.. Just my thoughts - as you say, God bless,

A++++ Well the next Frame (3 ft. * 3 ft. with a depth of 1 ft. is ready for the Peat moss with Coconut media for the Planting of nine Bulldog 805 Drought resistant Alfalfa with PreVAIL Premium Added. As per our Pretest study we should see about ( 2000 lbs.)one tons of Increased protein product per test riser. The deer and quail love the Alfa test so hunting should be great. The information we have is that in 18 to 24 months the tap root should reach the lower water table: this should make for stable growth and food for ten years after the set depth of the plants. Template reach at this point is great. All the production of increasing fixed nitrogen and better water retention with increased worm pop make for more growth all the time: we have seen this with increased worm population and less oil concentration in the sand.
Growth has slowed with the lack of rain but the older plants are doing fine.

, Here I thought you finally got away with your date! . It's been dry up here this year as well. I'm happy to see the switch from Scott's. Is this it? www.springvalleyusa.com/products/fertilizers/prevail 18 to 24 months makes sense. From what you are saying it seems like you are on the way to being able to reclaim land on the spot. It will be a longer process for your customers, but it will be less work aka overhead for JAL. Now for worm transportation?? One thing I keep meaning to bring up. Peat moss is on the way out, we can't keep destroying bogs. This has better properties than Peat and is a sustainable product.. Just a thought as you say.. pittmoss.comGod bless, &Co. PS. What about Tyson foods?? Tyson Stock Plunges After Profit Forecast Is Cut

, so if you have a big enough reactor in the ground the worm tea is clean and builds the water table? More risk than we are taking on here I can tell you that. God bless you guys for that!

Ranch report: Aug 2015 We got rain at the ranch: One of the current projects is to replace our common alfalfa with bulldog 805-5; a deep rooted low moisture alfalfa. I do have 25 peat pots with the plants hardened. I hope to added two pots to the egocentric location in the pit to test the concept of mine for reduced toxic test. We also will do a goat test for goat land study. Jay wants to do a REIT for oil and gas holdings. Not sure about the time frame? We do have R& studies on making better soil from sand plus worms. Great fishing worms. now for the ponds: duck hunting on the ranch looks great.. The quail population also looks great: the 805-5 produces a lot l more high protein seeds and the quail love them! Well, it is looking better all the time, Bruce PS:for details please read ;http://www.epa.gov/oust/pubs/tum_ch5.pdf

Green power!! IT'S THE WAY OF THE FUTURE. A+++++, Green Power: Sounds like goats eating alfalfa to me. Jay will be able to support at lease 25 goats for the needed food to support all my worms. Now only for the main breed of heat ristant goats. JUST A GOAT FOR FOOD AND HIDE; BiMetalAuPt Agriculture Goat husbandry is common through the Norte Chico region in Chile. Intensive goat husbrandry in drylands may produce severe erosion and desertification. Image from upper Limarí River A goat is useful to humans when it is living and when it is dead, first as a renewable provider of milk, manure, and fiber, and then as meat and hide.[31] Some charities provide goats to impoverished people in poor countries, because goats are easier and cheaper to manage than cattle, and have multiple uses. In addition, goats are used for driving and packing purposes. The intestine of goats is used to make "catgut", which is still in use as a material for internal human surgical sutures and strings for musical instruments. The horn of the goat, which signifies plenty and wellbeing (the cornucopia), is also used to make spoons.[32]

Like it says easier to take care of but serves the same purposes for your situation as cattle. I can't say I'm a fan of goats milk, but if you get some sheep too you can have feta cheese and sell wool.

We have discussed the disgusting amount of food waste there is previously in this thread, and now a smart young person has a business that is solving the problem. www.hungryharvest.net/#how-it-works

Considering how much it's spreading around right now in what would not typically be called a flu season, this winter could get nasty.... This is going to be something to watch closely as we are just starting to see a recovery in the flocks.. For the record, this is exactly what happened in China in 2013-2014 - also mentioned earlier in this thread. Poultry stocks rocked by avian flu outbreak

Bim, if I may make a suggestion.... If you don't already subscribe to it, take a look at the magazine geared towards sustainable ag....Acres USA. They cover all kinds of subjects in LOTS of different areas of the US and the world. It's very informative and educational. I've been subscribing to it for several years now. They used to offer a free copy, but not sure they do that any more....but you could ask!

There are some unique ways to get water that are set to come online in the next couple years. We'll see about the rest of the world over the next decade..
