Some of the recent threads are totally bumming me out. Please share a happy story about your partner - either something nice s/he did for you recently, or a time that you guys worked out a big issue and it made you stronger. Something like that. I'll start. DH liked having our recent houseguests about as much as I did but that did not stop him from helping me clean the entire house top to bottom before their arrival, cooking for them the entire time they were here (as well as me and my parents), and going with me to hang out with them in SF all day

little thing: he turned on the NBA Finals last night because he thought I wanted to watch it. Well, I didn't, but I appreciated the thought. He also got me the comforter off the bed because I said I was cold. big thing: he agreed to a cruise next year for our 5th anniversary WITHOUT DS!!! ETA: another big thing - well, huge... when DS was born he was 100% supportive of my wants and needs during and after the birth. He did all the administrative stuff (call work, the insurance company, family, etc.), kept people from bothering me (DS was in the NICU for a week and I really didn't want to talk about it with anyone at the time), and shuttled me back and forth between the hospital and home to visit and nurse DS. He did that until he developed a heart problem that landed him in the hospital later that week.

I've had a migrane for 7+ weeks at this point. DBF has done the majority of the housework/laundry/petcare/cooking in that time frame. My mom and dad also come down for a couple of days a week to check on us because I can't really handle much more than going to work and various doctor appointments right now. DBF has also been really good about making sure I'm getting the correct medications in the right dose at the right time, at one point I was on about 9 kinds/day. He's working really hard to make sure i'm doing all the right things so I can get better. Things are pretty tough for me and he's being the biggest sweetheart and taking such good care of me. He's the best

DH is almost done with my new kitchen. He put in electrical, gas, plumbing, installed the cabinets. He's been working on it since February. He even insisted on installing a pot filler over the stove so I don't have to carry pots from the sink to the cooktop. ;D
I also love watching DH with DS. He's been teaching him to play golf, scaring away monsters, and teaching him things like saying "yum, yum, yum" when he raids the cookie jar so I don't get mad.

I get migraines and they knock me flat on my back for about 48 hours. I can' imagine dealling with one for 7 weeks. I'm so glad you have people who care about you who help out!

Yay! Okay, this isn't recent but it was still cute and made me go d'aww. DH and I got together when we were both randomly in Vegas (we'd known each other for a long time but hadn't seen one another in years). He told me awhile back that once he knew I was going to be there, he bought a new outfit to wear

1st off, know that DH is so not into shopping.
But on our recent trip to Paris he let me drag him into one of the biggest department stores in the world. Things were even more expensive that I thought they would be. And 5 floors of just women's wear alone. But he was the one that tracked down the trench coat I wanted and couldn't find in my size even after I had given up on it. And didn't blink at spending 200 euros for it.

I've been very proud of DH lately. He sold his motorcycle and put the money in savings. He's in the process of building a beautiful rock patio for our yard. And he voluntarily went to a party with me last weekend (he HATES parties). I think I'll keep him

If we trace the flow of money, DW technically paid for most of our wedding and both our wedding rings. She has a career that is taking off, not just a job that bums her out. She is much more willing to "make do" with something than acquire every material possession possible.

My DH has been a rock so far in this pregnancy because I have been miserable. Monday, when I called my Grandma to tell her she was going to be a Great-Grandma again, she blew me off and then went on to complain about having all of her Great-Grandchildren born in the winter! I was pretty upset (with her and missing my other Grandma). DH wanted to call her up and yell at her for making me upset! I appreciated the though even if i didn't want him to do it. He is also actually looking forward to our long weekend at a cabin with my entire family. If that isn't true love, I don't know what is. ;D

DH used to get up when I was pregnant and couldn't sleep because of heartburn. He'd rub my back until we got the gas up and he'd get me my TUMS. It became so routine he was able to do it in his sleep.

DH ran his first half marathon on Saturday morning. Afterwards, with barely a break to shower, he ran errands and helped me clean/do yardwork all day long in preparation for DD's bday party we were having the next day. Then on Sunday he got up early and decorated the entire house with streamers/balloons while I baked/decorated her cake. He rocks.

When we were going to be in London for two nights, DH asked what shows I wanted to go see. I told him I hadn't been planning on any since he's not a big show fan. He told me that was stupid. How often was I going to be in London and we were going to a show at least one night. So, we went and saw Lord of the Rings which was awesome (for both of us, even). Recently, they've been advertising "the happiest ballet on earth" here and DH asked if I wanted to go. I said no, but it was nice to have him offer.
And the big one: Adoption is NOT DH's first choice for how to grow our family. But it's my first choice. So he's going through this whole process with me, including doing a lot of work and jumping through hoops we wouldn't even have to think about if we were doing this the old fashioned way.

It's not something he did for me but it was a happy moment. We were at Nebraska Furniture Mart and they were having a bridal expo type event to showcase the fact that they now have a registry option. They cake, stationary, people demonstrating stuff you could buy at NFM etc.
In the middle was a DJ company playing music and hosting the fashion show. Gwen LOVES to dance so she made a beeline over there. DH followed her while I went to get what I was looking for.
I come around the corner and they have a crowd around them as Gwen busts a move and DH is dancing along with her. It was so damn cute. Wish I had video on my phone

DH isn't a big fan of shopping and just going into stores without a specific purpose in mind (like many men). Even though we've lived in our current for 5 years, I'm an introvert and don't make friends easily. One day, I was talking about I wished I had friends to shop with. DH offered to go shopping with me. In the end, I didn't take him up on that offer that day because I think he was sick, but I did appreciate the offer.

One thing I appreciate about my DH is he is so playful. I'm definitely not - my gig is all about teaching responsibility, manners, academics, character, etc. I'm definitely not the most fun mom out there. DH is always fun and I'm so glad my kids have him for a father as it balances me out.

DH is AWESOME with tutoring DD on math. Seriously, she hit a major road block this year (several D's and F's) and he went online for hints on how to get her past it and created dozens of sample tests. Drilled and drilled her until she got past the block. Everyone was very pleased when she ended the year with an A in math...
(have to add I've been trying to post this for about 5 min and keep getting the angry bear/server problem message, DAMM that is funny!)

We went to a wedding this weekend, and part of the ceremony was a friend of the bride talking about how in a long-term relationship you tend to fall out of love and have to fall back in love with your spouse again. On Sunday it will be ten years together. I've never fallen out of love with my DH. I am normally the pickiest person on the planet, and he is just that incredible.

DH does all the grocery shopping, because not only do I hate doing it, but he's a much better comparison shopper than I am. No telling how many thousands of dollars he's saved us over the years.
I work late a lot and DH usually has dinner made for us by the time I get home.
My mother recently had to move into an assisted living facility and someone had to take her cat. My other siblings have dogs, so we ended up taking her in. That means we now have 3 cats, 1 cat over the usual quota. DH is not a cat lover, but has not once complained about the uninvited guest.
DH is the frugal member of the family. If it wasn't for him, we would probably have very little retirement savings, as that wasn't something I even thought about back when I married him.
And the best part - DH is a fabulous father, which somewhat made up for me being a lackluster mom. Our DS grew up into a great human being, and I give most of the credit for that to DH.

So that!! ^ No matter how mad I can get at DH that alone will keep me from every divorcing him. I hate shopping! My DH has been amazing helping me probate mom's estate and dealing with my brothers. I don't know what I would have done without him. He also spent his Memorial weekend redoing the lines for our water fountain out back and added more up lighting in the garden. I love it! He did the tile back splash in our kitchen and it's perfect. <<doesn't mention that it took him 2 years and it didn't get finished until I bitched about it>>

He wanted to go to a Folk Life Festival but wanted to go really early to find a place to park. I suggested we take the bus instead and he agreed. He paid my bus fare and for the Monorail, the festival was free. I was surprised he would take a bus but he wanted to ride the monorail since he hadn't for 50 years and neither had I. I liked that he was a gentleman and wanted to pay my way and didn't fight me on taking the bus. The great part of the bus was I could go home when I had enough and he could stay as long as he wanted and we shopped the Pike Place market on the way.

Every single morning, so far anyway, I wake up. This might not seem like much to some of you, but it means that Loop didn't smother me in my sleep, and considering that she's had to live with me for over a decade, that's pretty huge. The woman is a saint I tell ya.
Feel better now?
