A few years ago, I was shoveling the winter acculumation of seaweed, driftwood, other people's docks, and various flotsam and jetsam out of our boat launch. I was wearing cut off jeans and a sports bra, hair pulled into a pony tail, and sweating profusely.
DH was working on the house about 100 yards away. I realized I was being watched. I looked up at him and asked him what the problem was. He said that there wasn't any problem, but told me I looked really hot. As in I want you hot, not sweaty hot.

Since this a "Happy Partner stories" thread, I am not going to write anything. I already praised him enough in the other thread. I have some peeves with him. But that can wait for another day.

I accidentally left my phone at home today. It rang. DH noticed it was my brother, so answered it. Turns out, bro had some great news to share, so DH emailed me with the good news, and to let me know I'd left my phone at home.

DW is just a very kind and thoughtful person who puts her family and friends before herself. I'm a very lucky guy, and I try to show her the same consideration. I'm loving the guys' contributions on here. It's nice to hear about wives being appreciated for not killing their husbands.

Big Sarge takes his lunch with him to work (usually leftovers) because he knows we are trying to save money. As a nice bonus, he tells me that the other guys at work are jealous of his lunch. Yeah, its little. But it means a lot to me.

Oh dear, I hope my thread wasn't one of them that prompted this new thread! A few of the things I love about DBF: 1. Every morning before he gets in the shower he brings me a cup of coffee and gives me a kiss on the forehead. 2a. I truly hate to shop and as such he has repeatedly volunteered to do my grocery shopping for me if I just give him a list. 2b. Along the same lines, I realized that my wardrobe had a hit a new low point this spring and that I needed to get to the mall to do some shopping. The mall is so frustrating not because I don't want to spend the money but because I feel like I don't fit in at the stores...they're either teeny-bopper stores or mature women stores (I'm 35 and fit). He volunteered to go with me to the mall and shop with me for moral support even if I didn't actually want him to go in the stores! 3. He is very thoughtful: my fan broke and he bought me a new one and put it together, he knows I love fresh flowers and buys me a new bouquet every week when we go to the farmer's market, he pays attention to when I say I like things and uses them as gift ideas, etc. 4. We were recently on vacation in Key West and the place we were staying had its very own drag queen cabaret show which I thought sounded super hilarious and fun. He was a little skeptical and I wasn't going to make him go so didn't mention it again but as the week went on he asked if I'd bought our tickets for the show yet. He's becoming so much more open-minded and he even admitted that he was impressed with the amazing Cher impression the guy did.

DH grew up in a family (and culture - we both did) with very traditional gender roles. His first marriage was the same. He worked, and his ex-wife stayed at home with the kids and took care of pretty much everything except mowing the lawn. He knows how important my career is to me, so he's done a complete about-face. He supports me working long hours and going back to school to get the certifications I need. When I'm in school and working full time he takes over all house hold chores and tells me to focus on my studies. He repeatedly tells me how proud he is of me and the things I'm accomplishing.
This means so much to me because we are in a culture where this really isn't the norm. We stick out like a sore thumb in our families, and with most of our friends, but he never fails to support me.

TD is walking on water these days.
After he helped me break out of the hospital when I was getting lousy treatment AMA, he has been doing everything for me.....AND my cat.
From the time that I left the hospital, he made the flight arrangements (including h/c assistance through the airport). We went directly to the ER from our flight and he stuck with me until HE was the one that realized that my cat had been in the carrier for 12+ hours and needed a break.
He made almost (200 mile RT) daily trips to visit me the 3 weeks I was in the hospital and rehab. Once I got to his place, he made sure that I had the equipment that I needed.
Since the beginning of my medical misadventure, he has done 100% of the cooking, cleaning, laundry and hauling.....including changing the litter in my cat's litter box.
Most would have run screaming from my issues, yet TD has been a rock through all of this. I don't ever know how I'll be able to repay him for what he's done for me.

I <3 the Mich/TD combo. The best part is that I'll bet the only "repayment" TD's looking for is a healthy and happy Mich.

I knew he loved cats! (((TD))) For taking such good care of your lady and her kitty. And Mich wonders why all of us women try to steal him from her. ;D I just read where you couldn't take your trip with your friends this year. What a shame. That would have been so good for your spirit. Ruth Chris is wonderful so now you can look forward to eating there and seeing everybody next year will be an even bigger treat. I wish you a full and fast recovery, Mich! I still can't believe all you have gone through but I'm not surprised at all how wonderful TD has been to you. You both are great people and deserve one another.

TD sounds wonderful What??? He sounds like one of those jerks that goes too far and makes the rest of us look bad. Tone it down buddy, or we'll come find you! This will be your only warning.

Trying to deflect such accusations from yourself, Dark? ;D I have to hand it to you, talking about what an asshole you are and how much Loop has to put up with from you is a really good cover.

Too many good things to name. But among the top, he is a great dad to our kids, was a great son to his parents and a great son-in-law to my parents.

I got an unexpected back rub this week. I asked him to put a little lotion on an itchy spot but he spent along time and complained my skin was dry and sucking up lotion. He did my whole back and legs spending a lot of time when I would have been happy with a 1 minute lotion application.

I've been swamped at work, and DH has been taking great care of DS during that time. I also took DS on vacation recently and SH cleaned the house and did all the laundry before we got home. DH is a wonderful father - seeing our son giggle and run to him as soon as he comes in the room makes my heart melt. We still have a great sex life after 8 years, too!!!

I think LOOP got the better deal! But anyway, DF is a great guy. Case in point, last night, after an afternoon of dragging me around looking a new stuff for this house that he is remodeling, he took me to Bonefish for dinner because it had gotten too late for me to make dinner. Then he sat outside, which he hates, because I'm a Florida gal, and then didn't laugh because I wanted the shaded area outside. BTW, Bonefish is not his favorite restaurant, either, but one of mine.

Things have been stressful at work and I e-mailed DH and told him I'd just ordered a pair of $300 shoes. His response: "Good".
He's a househusband and takes most of the domestic stuff off my shoulders: cooking, pool maintenance, most of the cleaning, car maintenance, dealing with an endless string of cable system issues. All I have to do is work for a living and manage our investments.
And he's such a good stepfather that even my Ex's family says so.

Then, once home, berated himself for an hour because he accidentally purchased the wrong brand of Popsicles for the kids. Instead of going back to the store for the right brand?

DH just texted me to tell me he is done early today since one of his job sites canceled. He offered to go home and do all of our weekend chores so we would have all weekend to relax and enjoy the time off from work.
He also puts up with my crazy family and group of friends. He moved to Minnesota with me because he knew that was what I wanted at the time. Then moved to California with me and then back to Minnesota. His family lives no where near us and when we moved here he didn't know anyone but me and a couple of members of my family. It was so nice to see him visiting with my grandma the other night at dinner. She is getting confused and up there in years, keeps calling him by the wrong name and telling him the same story dozens of times but he sits through every re-telling and treats her like a queen.
