I just want to let everyone know I have been told I have stomach cancer. I have lost over 35 pounds in the last couple of months, I have been puking almost everytime i eat solid food. I went in for an upper GI last tuesday and they found a tumor, where the esphogus meets the stomach, it is blocking over half of my esphogus. The GI doctor sent me for a cat scan right away. I called on friday for the biospy results and was told it was cancer. I have an appointment with a cancer doctor on thursday to see what my options are and the stage i am in. I will update after i find out more.
I just thought i would share here, before i post what is going on, on facebook and plus i dont have everyone on facebook.

Patty, I’m so sorry to hear that, but the big awful C isn’t some kind of final sentence, by any stretch of the imagination. My mom is a breast cancer survivor, going on 15 years now. You are such a down to earth positive person and so full of life, you can overcome this and I absolutely know you will. Thinking of you…

Thank you everyone, sorry just to it out there. Like I said I will be posting an update on FB and of course dont have everyones fb, so I thought i would share here with some of my oldest and newest board buddies. I will update after i learn more on Thursday. I am hoping that it is treatable and I will come out of it or recover from it, sometimes until you are dealt a blow like this you have no idea how many people care and are thinking of you. You also look at all the things that you have going for you in your life, and just the people who have touched your life over the years.
All your well wishes and thoughts and prayers got me crying this morning. Big hugs to you all for your kind words.
Patty

I'm sorry to hear the news Rene and I hope you beat its ass for yourself, peanut and every person out there that was unable to do so. If its ok with, I want to take the time to jump on a soap box.......... Ya know it's all too often ya hear news of cancer or so many other diseases and premature death. I myself have had over 30 good friends die, anywhere from suicide to car accidents to disease. When these things happen it reafirms to me how I go about living life. None of us know when our number is going to be called. For this reason we should all enjoy life to the fullest extent, travel when you get an opportunity, if someone asks you to do something that may be enjoyable do it. Enjoy life, it's later then you think...thats a song I just heard on the series finally of House. I would post the song but I don't know how, but the song rang very true to me. Enjoy your life folks. We get one shot at this and if we do it right once is all we need. Good luck Rene

I hope your appt goes well tomorrow. Bring someone with you. They say there is a transparent vale that separates the healthy from the sick and one can get sucked through without warning leaving one bewildered on how they got there. Stay strong and take it one day at a time.

Patty, I know (been there) you're in uncharter waters right now and that it can be quite frightening but try to take comfort in knowing that cancer is far more treatable today than it was just a few short years ago. The American Cancer Society has a good website with forums for all types of cancer - you might want to check it out: csn.cancer.org/forumIt's sometimes slow to load but worthwhile. From our house to yours ETA As has been suggested, definitely bring someone to your appointment with you - a second set of ears can be invaluable during a time of medical stress and information gathering.

My DIL, son and mother are going with me. My DIL said she will take notes so that i can look at them later. She did this with her mother when she had breast cancer, so I am hoping she will ask or think of questions that maybe i miss. I love all and any suggestions anybody has, i am open to everything right now, as it is all new to me.

I know when my DD had cancer I took a notebook with me to all her appointments because they give you SO much information it becomes a bit overwhelming. Just take along a little notebook.

My SIL does the notebook too. Also if your doctor wants a scan or test & your insurance says they won't pay for it, fight them. They will give in. My SIL has used the line that it is her life & she will not die because they think they know more than her doctors.
