Cheesy, thanks for explaining that in dummy terms. Does that make me Virgil's interpreter?

I keep getting the "No Data" error message. Does it have anything to do with these changes? Why you say "error message", where does it appear? ETA: It seems like people would like the ability to have the bar on the left hand side of the window as opposed to the right hand side.

"Q: I've set "Show FAQ Strip" to "No", but the strip is still showing up? What gives? A: I haven't programmed this feature yet. However, the computer will remember your setting. The FAQ strip will disappear if you have "Show FAQ Strip" set to "No", as soon as I implement the feature."
Thanks for this feature Virgil. As a tablet user, I am constantly hitting it when I simply want to scroll down the page (l'm left-handed).

Hi Femme! Good evening to you too, sweetie! Virgil - I love you and Moon but when you two talk computer stuff I just don't follow what you are saying because terms you use are not familiar to me. I don't want to bookmark stuff. I just want to know where I was when I was having conversation because I use New Topics and I don't always pay attention to what board I was on. So I just look at my last few posts and then it will tell me. The thing on the right is in my way and it keeps popping out when I scroll. Femme and I are blond - what can I say? But we are cute - or as Omni would say - "Pretty"!

Following the instructions, you can turn it off! I have to read instructions?!?! No one has a magic go away wand? Oh.my. gosh. Is it really that hard to read a bit? When it is popped out, click the gear icon in the upper right. It will take you to your profile. At the very bottom of your profile is the area for QuickBar Preferences Show QuickBar: SET TO NOand save!

Thank You, Virgil !! And it's not in the way of scrolling at all. As soon as you start to scroll, it disappears until you've stopped. I'll check out all the features/buttons in a few minutes, but so far, it seems pretty cool!!

Why you say "error message", where does it appear? Across the page when I try to post. Not always, but a lot lately. Something about server can't receive data? I will have to exit the board when it does this. Lone, that sounds like a problem on Proboards end of things. For those of you having problems with the location of the thumb, hold on 15 minutes. I'm adding in the option to have it on the left side instead.

i'm sorry for being snippy, but it really bothers me when virgil (or others) work SO HARD on things to make our experience better, only to have it shredded because
1. (general) you hate it without even trying it 2. (general) you can't read the instructions before complaining. in this case, it's obvious Virgil worked to cover most anticipated questions but yet..it meant nothing.
easier to say "make it go away". i find it hurtful, and it's not even my widget.
the same stuff is being said about v5. few even want to give it a chance....

Looks like a nice little gadget to me. I think folks will get a lot of use out of it once they get to play with it a bit. I won't use it much as I don't tend to return to threads I've posted in. I'm a roamer. ;D I can see where it might be useful at times, though, even for me, and being able to turn it on and off from the Profile page is great.

I feel your pain, moonbeam. Heck, if you don't want to use it, turn it off. Just because it doesn't serve your specific needs/wants doesn't mean the whole board has to do without something because you happen to think it's "icky". When someone has gone to a lot of trouble to make things better, easier, and/or more fun, what most folks say is: Thanks! (Then, those same folks go right on and do as they wish while enjoying the opportunity to do something nice for someone else.) At least, that's how I was raised, and how I raised my chill'uns.

I hardly even notice it unless I hover over right over it, so it's not obstructive at all - and doesn't interfere with the scroll bar in any way. As soon as you start scrolling it vanishes temporarily. Which is also very cool !!!

Moon, with all due respect, I wasn't trying to ummmm.."shred it" I was simply trying to figure out how to hide it. I'm sure Virgil works very hard and it IS appreciated...some people just prefer, simple. Thank you for the hard work. But there were no bad intentions from my question...and certainly not dissing Virgil's efforts. Hagn.

OK. Sorry if the bar (and pages) have been going through conniptions over the past 20 minutes. I have added the option to have the bar on the left side of the screen instead of the right. Hence, no interference with the scroll bars. I will add it to the FAQs.

Thanks for the kind words from all. And for those who want to "keep it simple", I suppose we can let that slide. But you're missin' out.

Virgil doesn't know we love him?! <<starts singing to Virgil>> Maybe I hang around here A little more than I should We both know I got somewhere else to go But I got something to tell you That I never thought I would But I believe you really ought to know I love you I honestly love you You don't have to answer I see it in your eyes Maybe it was better left unsaid This is pure and simple And you must realize That it's coming from my heart and not my head I love you I honestly love you I'm not tryin' to make you feel uncomfortable I'm not tryin' to make you anything at all But this feeling doesn't come along everyday And you shouldn't blow the chance When you've got the chance to say I love you I honestly love youuuuuu

Moon gets the props for any of the site improvements that don't cause error boxes to pop up en masse during the first few weeks of deployment. And also props for handling e-mails from users whose IE 7 browsers have them locked out via crash due to Virgillian skins.

If people would just scrap IE altogether, that would solve all the world's problems!

May I say that it would be nice to be able to delete a thread from the quickbar? Currently the secondary thread moonbeam locked last night is still in my quickbar, and because it is locked, it is moot to keep it there. Granted, I realize that once the number of threads I post in matches the number I have allowed, it will drop off, but it is still unnecessary clutter for the time being.

I was thinking about that too, Cheesy. I'll add a remove thread feature. After sundown tonight, though. Today is the Sabbath.
