Firebird - Just read your idea of how you're going to keep track of discussion questions. I will post mine for you then.
Discussion Question "What did you think the most emotional moment in the book was?"
P.S. I tried so hard to read The Time Traveler's Wife and I just could NOT get into it!

Can you make a thread for Hunger Games. Post the Questions, and ask for it to be stickied and closed until the date we start the discussion ?

I don't plan on nominating... i'm guessing there will be enough people who don't that we will at least get more than one vote / book ... Can you make a poll so that you can vote for 2 or vote for 3 ?

That's a shame, because it's a truly beautiful book. One of the bits toward the end makes me tear up every time without fail.
It's hard to get into the first time, I grant you... but then it picks up steam. I found myself finishing it and starting over right away. Now I only let myself read it once a year or so, as a special treat.

I'd be fine with that if people don't want them on the open thread. But I think we can restrain ourselves. I'm already thinking about Pammy's excellent question. Keeping my thoughts to myself

Guys, you can PM me your discussion questions if you'd rather not post them on the thread. Either way, I've got a Word doc started so I can keep track of them. Whatever works best for you.
I think we need to keep the nominations in the open, though. Just for the sake of avoiding repeats.

It's okay! I totally don't mind either way, since I'm just putting them in a Word doc. I just don't want to start too many threads and piss off the mods.
ETA: I'm excited about some of the discussion questions so far, this is going to be fun!

If you like TV series like 24 I've been reading a book that might interest people. It's a YA series called The Homelanders. It is about this 18 year old kid who wakes up in a chair with no memory and having just been tortured. The book is all about him trying to figure out who he is and stop a terrorist plot.
It isn't the greatest written book ever, some of the plot points are really really simplified. But if you keep it in the back of your mind it is written for young adults it's actually pretty good. It's got me hooked enough that I want to read the second book (there are four in the series).
The first book is The Last Thing I Remember.

I was addicted to 24. I saw them all after they went off the air though. I got them from the library.
Drama - I might have to add The Homelanders to my personal list.

DH was addicted to 24. He's not much of a reader though. I think he could get into The Homesteaders, it's pretty fast reading. He said he might consider picking up World War Z if I buy it for the NOOK. My list keeps getting longer and longer. Darn you people.

NOMINATION
I'm in, too (I'm on the waiting list for Hunger Games at the library...luckily I did it right before the movie came out, I think I'm #4 on the list).
I have a nomination for a book, another YA. Gone (which is a series, I am waiting for book #5) by Michael Grant. Another "dystopian" style of reading, lots of action which starts on page 1. Its about the dissappearance of everyone over the age of 15 and the aftermath of those left behind. The area of southern California is isolated through some sort of supernatural dome and some of the kids start learning they have supernatural abilities. Kind of the show "Lost" meets "Lord of the Rings."

mandy- can you please put "NOMINATION" in bold at the top of your post along with the title of the first book so it's easy for oped to find?
Thanks!

It says "Updated" - do I have to wade thru 7 pages to find the update? Or is there some post number with the "Update"?

Thyme, the update is in the OP itself. I modified the title again to make that clear.

At the risk of sounding like a killjoy (as I have often been accused of) why is this YM and not EE?

You guys should consider a separate sub-forum, bc if there is going to be a new book every month = new thread, voting threads, suggestions threads, etc - why not have a sub-forum? G-d knows we have it for everything else

Meh, too complicated. Let's see if this thing even sticks for the first discussion and then we'll go from there.

Hardly, I think it's been well established that YMers suck ;D
It's just personal taste. A couple of YM threads have "gone EE" in the past and they were full of inside jokes and weird comments and I just wasn't into it. For the most part, I like to stay on topic. Just a personal preference.

Aww are the EEers kicked out of the book club? NO, absolutely not!!!! I didn't mean that as an attack on anyone. Any thread with wvugurl > any thread without wvugurl

I think if we go sub-forum or even EE a lot of people may not bother to stop by the threads & contribute. I am excited to read the books, but I will probably miss out on some of the threads because I pretty much stick to YM.
