Dancin: I think your math may be wrong. Wasn't the bacon alone $4.00? Or did you miss mentioning a OM coupon? That's what I THOUGHT it was going to be, but the clearance coupon (orange peelie on the package) gave me 50% off the regular price of $7.99, so $4 off on each package AND the register rang them up $7.99 and $0, so I ended up getting them for FREE. I wasn't going to complain.

pinkbow - i think you hit the sale too late. my safeway had the wishbone dressing for $0.99 for 4 days only & it ended Monday. I was lucky to get $1/1 coupons but only 2. I found that I really like the buttermilk ranch so got my 2 & had them adjust down the last q to $0.98 for $0 OOP. I didn't want anything else to try to cover 2-cent overage. That's possible, although I swear the ad said Ken's dressing was 99 cents through May 1, which is when I went. I really hate the grocery options here! Everything seems so expensive and the produce is typically awful. I went to visit my parents last weekend and went grocery shopping while I was there and spent $60 buying what would have cost almost $100 at Safeway. I can sympathize. I have two national grocery chains to choose from, Safeway and Nob Hill; and Nob Hill is more expensive than Safeway!!

Has anyone scanned their card more than once this week? Did the red machine give you another $1/1 off deodorant? If you did the Mennen deal, how did it work out? Well I went in to get my son's Rx today. i guess I had good news and bad news on the deod. the good news is that the Bogo coupon for the speed stick is scanning at $3.99 automatically. For me the bad news is I didn't get the $1/1 crt for deod, on either card! I ended up getting it because when I scanned DH's card it spit out an ECB for 0.75 cents that I hadn't realized it had since we use it so rarely. All the CRT spit out for me was the $10/2 olay and $1/1 Gum tp. Oh well I guess you win some and lose some. Question about the P&G rebate. My local Shoprite has some good P&G cats this week. On my receipt it says CG cheeker $3.99 and right under it is says -1.00 for the price plus disc. So for the rebate do I count it as $3.99 or $2.99? After coupons and cats I only paid $0.97 cents for all three CGs so no complaints either way ;D, but I need to know how to count it for the get $10 when you spend $50 rebate. I was at CVS today too and the red machine is no longer giving the deoderant coupon or the toothpaste one...

Well I went to Safeway yesterday and was very excited about going to buy salad dressing for $0.50 a bottle. When I got there, instead of the sale that was advertised ($0.99/bottle), it was 2/$5. I had a $1.00 off 2 bottles coupon, so I still bought it since I went out of my way to go to the store, but wasn't very happy. Does this happen often? This particular Safeway tends to treat customers like criminals, so I felt like talking to anyone working there would have been a complete waste of time. ETA ahh so many typos. My brain isn't awake yet. This happens to me all the time at Safeway/Vons. I am in Southern California and our prices are often higher than the rest of the country and the coupon matchup site lists. ETA: It could also be because my store only doubles the first coupon and the price may be with two doubled coupons.

Hound Alert - I need the 1$ off morningstar farms coupon from coupons.com. If anyone can help me, please let me know. Thank you. SaveinLA, do you still need these? If so, send me a PM so I'll see it sooner. I have 2 but if you need more I can probably print at least 2 more. And let me know if there is anything else you need to fatten the envelope. Swagbucks has coupons dot com on their site and you're supposed to get bucks for using them, though I haven't seen any show up yet from last month. I have a ticket in to them asking how it works, maybe I'm supposed to do something to claim them. If anyone wants to get onto Swag bucks PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you a link. (Shameless referral plug.) I make about $5 in Amazon credit per month.

If anyone uses Discover Card, 5% cashback this month on groceries. I got some really nice Kroger coupons in the mail today. I might have to check out their sales this month. Be Aware: The limit on this is $300 in purchases = $15 cashback. As a single, that is WAAAY more than I will/can reasonably spend in a month. However, I do normally use cash for many other purchases so I will do some cashover spending. I am also planning on getting some gift cards both for grocery stores and for a couple restaraunts. NOTE: You do have to specially sign up for this offer either online or by phone. Chase Freedom card has 5% at grocery stores this quarter too. You also have to register in advance.

This week I used a rain check and two coupons from the MF site and got Farmland no-nitrates bacon for $3.50 and $2.95 (for two with coupons.) I was really lucky one week and found Oscar Meyer turkey bacon at the dollar store for $1 each. Unfortunately DH doesn't like turkey bacon nearly as much and he definitely does not like the nitrates. But sometimes I buy these because I like the price. I tell him it's in case he gets desparate, he'll have backup bacon.

Dancin: Wow on the bacon! I was only lucky enough to get a raincheck for $1.99 John Morrell bacon tonight. I did transfer 2 prescriptions at Kroger for $50.00 on my Kroger card and that was the best deal I got this week. I used all my UPs at Rite Aid and the deal didn't work out like I thought so I have no UPs but have $30.00 on a giftcard.
I've been so busy at work that I've been slacking on the grocery deals and I need to get back on track. I went and bought a can of black beans at Meijer and had to pay $.88 without a coupon. Since DH does the majority of cooking, I don't check my pantry as often as I should. I was rolling in free black beans and pasta awhile back and now am getting low on some of my pantry items. I hate paying for things without coupons. I honestly don't know how folks do it without using coupons. The price of groceries is scary.

Hey, the bacon was nothing but being in the right place at the right time. DH has no clue about the prices of things. When I told him the regular price of the bacon, he practically fell over. He said if he were to take a guess at the regular price for bacon, he would have guessed $3.99. It seems like every time I go to the store I notice something that has drastically increased in price. Recently it was an 8 oz. package of Philly at Safeway for $3.29. No wonder people are spending so much money on food!! I know what you mean about running low on something. You get an awesome deal on an item and stockpile like crazy thinking it will take you forever to go through it, and then a year or two later, poof, it's gone. I did that with Del Monte diced tomatoes @ $.10/can. I was so bummed when I had to pay $.59 or $.69/can the next time around.

Stores do this so that way they can recoup the difference on other items that they put on a sale. Most people just buy things aimlessly and they know that. You just gotta be savvy

Was wondering if you ladies(guys?) could help me with something real quick? What do you think is the best printer to purchase that won't kill me on ink? We only have Walmart to shop at. I'm not willing to drive an hour to any other stores, cause I'm lazy like that. Cheap upfront costs is tempting. But then I look at the price of ink. If I am going to be printing coupons for better deals, then I will probably go through a lot of ink, right? The last printer I had was over 5 yrs ago. Have they gotten better? Ok. Sorry for the long post on something so simple. And thanks for any help/advice!

Are you willing to purchase things online?? www.thecentsableshoppin.com/amazon-brother-compact-wireless-laser-printer-81-shipped-was-150/ ..I bought this one and I LOVE IT! Best purchase I ever made and its wireless..i have 2 laptops that print to it wirelessly through my verizon internet wireless modem/router. if you have more questions, feel free to ask ( I'm a PC technician by trade )

ok...I clearly need to go thru my pantry and clean some stuff out but more importantly make a list of my staples...I was doing stocking up I thought when prices got low but a year's worth?? or free?? I really need to get it together!! Bacon is a must in my house and the 3 little ones can almost eat a pound by themselves...we usually get ours at Sam's Club for like 9.99 for 3 lbs but still hurts. Hubby picked up cashews while he was there too (one of the few things my little non eater will eat) and they had gone up almost $7 for the big can I think he said. I said pass but he bought them anyway....oh well :sigh: you can't win them all I guess

Thanks twinmama! I'm ok with up front costs if I'm not going to be spending a bunch through out the month. Cause we all know there are some good coupons to print! LOL And FINALLY my small town is moving in the times and the places are going to start taking them! Off topic- Your name is kinda ironic to me. My mom had twins in 85. And when I seen it, I thought mom had been holding out on me! LOL Again thanks. Hopefully, I will have me a nice new printer for Mother's Day.

I second the Brother. That brand is supposed to be one of the best in saving ink.

Last printer we got was a multi-function printer/scanner/copier/fax Lexmark pro 905, and I chose it because it uses the cheapest ink out there. $5.00 for 500 pages black. We don't use the fax function - the phone jack in that room doesn't work - but we have been really happy with it. And I get the ink at Staples for free, with their rewards; plus you get a couple of dollars rewards with each used cartridge you return for recycling.

Pink It is NOT unusual to find places that are 30-50% cheaper than the natl chains. I do that quite frequently here just by shopping at independent markets & Aldi.
Filed ANOTHER online complaint with Dominicks (Safeway) today, as my FREE J4U Starbucks Refresher did NOT come off on Friday. Left the ENTIRE order.
Got a FREE 12 double roll pack of toilet paper via UPS on Friday. Apparently I agreed to do a survey on this brand. Do NOT remember this but I’m a happy camper. Will not mention brand now as I must have signed a non-disclosure agreement.

I have 3 year old twin boys, and i was born in 85 haha... oh, one other thing that is nice about the Brother is they sell off brand cartridges for a lot cheaper, and unlike brands like Samsung, Brother's printers will take them. Samsung became smart and has installed a chip on their genuine cartridges as well as their printers and if you try to use an off brand cartridge, the printer won't recognize it...HTH

Well, I took my last $1/1 deodorant CRTs to CVS this morning and picked up (4) more of the Speed Stick. They were pretty wiped out. I'm sure it had more to do with the BOGO coupon than the $1/1 CRT. In any case, I was happy that I could add some to my stockpile for FREE this week. Patience and FREE is still the name of the game for me.

Found a DIY video on how to replace it, popped open the dryer and sure enough, the belt slid right off..Now I just have to find someone in Lompoc who sells dryer belts I really being handy with things As DH would say, "Yo da man!!"

Dropping by to say hi. I just caught up on this months thread. Wish i had a killer deal to post but we all know there is not much happening right now. I was thinking of things that i used to buy, like the Philly cream cheese, and a whole bunch of other things that we just do not purchase anymore. It really is a large list that has (to me) gotten way over priced and i just will not buy. I looked on ebay and thought it was a joke at the amount of 25c MQ i saw being offered out. Goodness, 25c on a $3 - $6 item er yeah, i will skip the item. My HBA is still in good supply. I have actually cut back on how much of it i use trying to conserve it for as long as possible. I now use dish clothes instead of grabbing at the Bounty cos i am down to the last 3 rolls and will not be buying them for a while. I'm just glad that i didn't go crazy giving it away when the times were good, i gave to family, mainly Kids in collage or just starting out on their own.
Dancin, that was a great Shopping trip you posted. Bacon sure is not cheap anymore. Nice deal you got for everything.

I'm so glad that your stockpile seems to be holding up. Just keep watching the ads looking for rock bottom prices. There are still deals to be had, just not as frequently.

Dancinmama:
Re your luck with the OM bacon: I went to SW last night and immediately checked if there were any of those 50% off packages. Of course, there were none. We don't eat bacon that frequently and I have a package in the freezer so I passed on the BOGOF deal. I think SW raises the prices drastically when they do those promos. But I did score some free organic blueberries. The sign said they were $4.39 but they rang up at $5.49. I went to Customer Service and they refunded the entire amount. That's never happened before.
I like the $$ store, too. I can always get a bunch or two of bananas there for $1.00 each. It's the ROXY brand which is a division of Dole. Sometimes the outside of the banana doesn't look that great but they are hardly ever bruised. Better quality than those at SW! I've even gotten a bunch of pkgs. of Oscar Meyer Selects for .99. The expiration date was 5 weeks off--those pkgs. are $5.99 each at SW! My $ store also often has organic spring mix, sometimes blueberries, and often good brand yogurt. Not to mention the gift bags. It's on my way to work so I stop by once or twice/week.
